Always a Great Stay.

GP-AZ18 (Phoenix, Arizona) on Jul 19, 2024

This was our third time staying at the Fairmont Orchid. We stayed there for a total of 10 days. The hotel and staff never disappoint with their service. Tiara checked us in at the front desk and she was lovely. Nice options to eat and drink throughout the property. Beautiful grounds with relaxing beach. Spa was great as well. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet with its amazing food choices and beautiful patio. The hostess Princess was great and always smiling. Thank you to Scott and Destiny from Hale Kai, and Manna from Luana Lounge for being so awesome! Overall, we had an amazing time and will be back very soon!

Staff shoutouts!

Kristen B on Jul 16, 2024

I was at the hotel with my family (8 of us across 3 generations) and I wanted to give special mention to a few staff who made our stay great. Elijah at paddleboarding, Ahi at the canoe area, Matt who did snorkeling and helped my nephews gain confidence with their swimming, and then my massage was amazing to the point where I have to admit I'm not 100% sure of her name- pretty sure it was Carly. But all these folks really added to our experience.

The perfect spot for an extended family group vacation

Kittesq (Burlingame, California) on Jul 15, 2024

Our extended family group of 15 (6 rooms) had a wonderful stay at the Fairmont Orchid. I highly recommend this hotel for your family group. Special shout out to Barbie Nakamura who made our trip effortless and restful, assisting us with check in, breakfast tables and dinner reservations and anything else we needed. All our rooms were conveniently located close together in the same hallway. The beds (even the pull out) are comfortable and the rooms are very quiet. We never heard other guests or doors opening and closing. Housekeeping staff was excellent and made up our room each day. The pool area is spacious and comfortable — highly recommend making Resort Pass reservations for pool daybeds or hales if you are able as the lounges do fill up quickly. Although there are many families with young children, the Fairmont Orchid is a peaceful and quiet oasis. We enjoyed a particularly delicious dinner at Binchotan and a lovely private dinner on the balcony of the Luana Lounge. Both have spectacular sunset views. Several of our party are gluten free (including 1 celiac) and the Orchid does a great job of labeling menus and the breakfast buffet foods and will gladly bring delicious gluten free banana bread. Overall we had a wonderful extended family vacation.

3 star at best -Don’t waste your money

After reading some of these good reviews I had to check and make sure I looked up the same hotel.. THE only thing keeping THIS Fairmont above water is the island itself! The grounds are pretty but that’s where it ends. DO NOT go and expect a Fairmont experience it is VERY clear that The orchid staff don’t care, hate their jobs and are NOT held to the very standard that I have experienced at any other Fairmont in the past. For start the rooms are dusty and not maintained the pool staff seems unhappy and angry everything you ask of them is a chore (The word RUDE is an understatement) Not sure who is training the housekeeping staff but the cleanliness is off putting. The front desk staff have zero communication and put us in multiple dirty rooms when we checked in. Only people doing their job is the wedding coordinators/planners and bell service. I can speak for myself and the also 30-40 other guests that stayed and had their own negative experiences while attending our family wedding when I say this hotel needs a facelift (One bartender told a guest during the reception *a recovering alcoholic that he doesn’t deserve his good looking wife while ordering a coke instead of alcohol..) not kidding. Then he went on to call anyone going up for a second round an alcoholic. Even putting alcohol in drinks when people asked for none.. This vacation experience has made me loose trust in everything that I thought the Fairmont stood for and makes me second guess ever staying at a Fairmont again.

Overall a 5-Star Experience despite a Few Hiccups that were Made Right

audreyc222 (Los Angeles, California) on Jul 11, 2024

My family and I stayed at the Fairmont Orchid for 9 days. It was our first experience at a Fairmont property, and our expectations were high. It goes without saying that the property is absolutely gorgeous. Yes, it's older and can definitely use some TLC in repairs and renovations, but the overall presentation is amazing. Large pool with plenty of seating, accessible lagoon for swimming, snorkeling, and other water activities, and mini bridges and waterfalls throughout the property make for a serene oasis away from it all. We basked in the beauty every day we were there. The first room we checked into had an unpleasant odor. A quick call to the front desk remedied that. We were promptly moved to another room where we stayed 4 nights. On the 5th day, we encountered another issue that was not acceptable, and had to move again. Lynn at the front desk went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. She promptly arranged for us to move to a much better room, and also made sure we had a wonderful time at the pool and lagoon. Even after making these arrangements, Lynn followed up with me to ensure that everything was satisfactory. Her dedication to ensuring our comfort truly exemplified what excellent customer service is all about. It is this level of service that sets a 5-star hotel apart from its competitors, and it will be one of the main reasons why we'll return to the Fairmont Orchid. Honorable mention for Michelle, our luggage attendant (a teacher during the school year!), who was so kind when we checked in, helping us to our new room. She remembered our names after the first day and would greet us with her friendly smile whenever we ran into each other. Food wise, our daily breakfast was good. The beach hut, Hale Kai's offerings, were ok, not great. We did have a wonderful dinner at Brown's on our last night, although my husband wasn't thrilled about his dish. But really, you just can't beat the atmosphere, watching the sunset as you enjoy your dinner and cocktail in the warm Hawaiian breeze. I did go to the Spa Without Walls for a waterfall hut deep tissue massage, which was amazing. Pricing for both food and spa are high, but it's to be expected at any 5-star resort. There's complimentary self-parking on site, which is wonderful to save a little money, although the valet guys were really pleasant and friendly. They give you water bottles to enjoy filtered water found in filling stations throughout the property - I'm a huge water drinker and loved this! We truly enjoyed our stay at the Fairmont Orchid and already can't wait to be back next summer.
