Unplanned stay with outstanding location and service
acspark (Seattle, Washington) on Jan 26, 2023
We ended up at the Royal Kona Resort unexpectedly when our other accommodations were cancelled at the last minute. Their proximity to the ocean allowed for wonderful views of the crashing surf and their pool was very refreshing. My kids enjoyed using up our drink allowance on milkshakes from the bar. The interiors of the towers were filled with ginger flowers and water features. We also had a nice, spacious balcony, which was useful for drying our many wet suits and towels. Maria in the food service department even helped us get our farmer's market pineapple cut so we could eat it (our other lodgings that were cancelled had a kitchen). The location of the resort is very close to shopping and restaurants in Kailua Kona, so it was easy to walk to them.
Amazing Location, Good Hotel!

The hotel itself is somewhat dated, it's not brand new or newly remodeled but it is very clean and well maintained! All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Wendy who checked us in and took the time to give us recommendations for great local restaurants and activities. The pool is a little small but very nice and relaxing, we saw whales breach from the pool, the bar is walking distance away and the drinks and food at the bar were great! But I can't say enough about the location! It is right in the heart of everything Kialua-Kona, we walked everywhere and only needed to rent a car one day because we chose to go to Volcano's National Park. You can walk in about 15-25 minutes to all of the restaurants, bars, brewery's and shopping.
