We stayed at the Royal Club for a birthday celebration. Our suite was beautiful and big enough for 3 Ladies.
Tony (our concierge) was very nice and accommodating. We requested to have the suite decorated for the birthday girl while we were at the spa. They did such a fantastic job!
The food was delicious in most of the restaurants and the service was impeccable.
The salt water pool on the Royal Club side was amazing!! and the restaurant was just a few steps away!
We did a tour with Gabriel’s, who was the owner operator. We visited the volcano and Hot Springs. My friend was tired while doing the hike and Gabriel helped her the entire way!
This was an amazing trip and I can’t wait to visit again!
Absolutely incredible.. or as they say "PURE VIDA!"

Our family of 4 (2 kids, 4 & 8 years old) just returned from 8 nights at this resort, and oh my goodness, what a genuinely incredible experience! We've been to Barbados & all over Mexico, and this was our favorite trip out of them all. Costa Rica, it's rich, genuine, & honest culture was just phenomenal. The resort itself was amazing- the pool area was the best we've ever experienced.. plenty of pools to relax, swim & play in. There are several kids/shallow areas throughout the pool, which is great, so you're not locked into one area. The pool bar was so fun, and the drinks were decent. My favorite was the smart fox, with rum added. The food was great for an all-inclusive. I wouldn't say it was amazing, but we all enjoyed several different types of meals on our stay. The steakhouse was our least favorite, the restaurant at the royal club was our favorite. We didn't upgrade to the family area, and personally, I didn't see the benefit of it. We had plenty of resources at our disposal with just the standard room there. The rooms are amazing, with plenty of room for a family of 4 to set up camp for the week & not feel crammed. There were plenty of shuttles to get our family where we needed, and was one of my 4 year olds favorite parts of each day, haha! We did the horseback riding right there on the beach in front of the hotel, and it was just unreal, I would highly recommend. My son just rode with me and it was a very safe and pretty mellow activity our entire family could enjoy. Eric G helped set us up for the monkey boat tour, and the most incredible, genuine, knowledgable guide, Heiner (aka "Goose"). He picked us up in a truck, and took us to the monkey boat tour, with plenty of education & conversation along the way. He stopped at a local pottery shop on the way back, with a demonstration by the 4 generation potter, which was a very cool educational experience for all of us. I would highly, highly recommend him as a guide! Overall, we are already plotting how to get our family back to Costa Rica. Just a very safe, clean, wonderful experience. If you're on the fence, just book it, you won't regret it!
Some of the bathrooms did smell like sewage (esp the one by the pool bar). One critique I have for the Westin, would be they need to improve their single use plastic! The amount of plastic cups and straws was disappointing & not in alignment with Costa Rican standards. I would really hope they could get their act together and at least use re-useable hard plastic cups for the pool/beach area, in the least.
