Exceptional customer service

PhilipJesse (Chicago, Illinois) on Mar 27, 2024

The customer service here is EXCEPTIONAL. There is so much staff and they are all so willing to help. From valet to the front desk to concierge to everyone else. I’ve rarely experienced this level of attentiveness. Laura F. at the front desk is a gem. The pool deck is under construction and you can’t use it so keep that in mind. Fabulous location, clean property, and again, customer service. Whoever is in charge of customer service should be acknowledged.

Stay away!!!!!

J W on Feb 05, 2024

BEWARE!!!!! The hotel is UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!!!! RUDE contractors who will wake you up at 8am and will not move out of your way. Besides that they dont tell you the hotel is under construction when making reservations, they dont advertise this on their site. So this is what you can expect: loud beeping noises at 8am, a makeshify lobby on the 12th floor, rude security who greet you with "are you staying here?" instead of Good Morning sir....Painters, bad smells, rude customer service. Black mold in the room. (See pics) Stay away!!!!!

It was a wonderful Christmas!

jenniferaY3838EM (Las Vegas, Nevada) on Jan 10, 2024

We had the pleasure of staying at the W Hollywood over Christmas. Everyone was so welcoming even though they were working over the holiday. We felt like true VIPs! Our room was beautiful and well appointed. The room had a view of downtown LA which was appreciated. Our visit began with a superb greeting by the valet staff especially Kenneth. Check in with Micaela was professional and most pleasant. The bellman, Luis, accompanied us to our room and made sure all was well. We received a wonderful welcome gift supplied by CJ and Lina. The housekeeping staff was so friendly and polite every time we saw them. They cleaned the room daily and it was always spotless. Kudos to Amelia who planned and coordinated our whole stay! We can’t wait to come back!! What a perfect way to spend Christmas!

Avoid at all costs

_yo_pmc (London, United Kingdom) on Jan 05, 2024

I am an experienced traveler and a regular Marriott hotels user (Bonvoy member). In the W chains, I have previously been to W NYC (Union Sq), W Dubai, W Miami Downtown, W Barcelona, and W London. I recently did a full road-trip along the Californian coast from San Francisco to San Diego, stopping at top hotels along the way, each of a different owner as we wanted to compare (Hyatt, Intercontinental, Marriott, and 2 independent hotels). In LA, my partner and I decided to stay at the W Hollywood for 2 nights (for $1.1k including all charges). It was definitely a mistake and the poorest experience in the trip. Once we arrived at the hotel (by car), we waited over 20 min for a valet to show up. We had to unload the luggage ourselves, and we weren't even helped with our luggage with the stairs at the ground floor. Once we arrived at the 12th floor for reception, the check-in agent confirmed it was a "Fabulous City View Room" as booked online. To our dismay, when we arrived at our room, it had view on a brown/red building (to be clear, no open view at all, directly facing the building)! When we called the reception, they initially agreed to give us a $100 voucher for the "inconvenience". When I checked-out, the person at the reception (who was very nice to us) admitted that Marriott has been *mis-selling* the "City View" rooms for more than 6 years as a new building has been built in front of those rooms, and gave us 2k Marriott points plus an additional $200 cash reimbursement. About the room: not great either for the price. No coffee machine, no free WiFi (despite Bomvoy member), no branded soap, no shower caps, no free water. Far from a luxury stay and the first time (for me at least) it's been this dire at a W hotel. The room was bland (everything was white with a single colorful pillow). The AC was making weird noises all night. Oh and also the robes had white-ish/orange make-up stains when we arrived (of *very* different color than my girlfriend's skin tone...). About the restaurant: we wanted to use the restaurant before going out one night to get a drink (to spend on our $100 voucher). When I ordered an additional Coke before leaving, they served me an *opened* can of Pepsi. Leaving: when we arrived back at the stairs of the entrance to access our car, the security guard had to help us with our luggage, and told the W person standing there that it "wasn't his job". We were very understanding with the security guard. At $80/night parking, you'd expect better roadside service. Total cost for two nights: $1.1k minus the $300: $800. I still think that's overpriced by another $300. The only highlight of the stay were the barmen on the pool deck!

Overall a great hotel

sswant (New York City, New York) on Dec 29, 2023

Got a room with a view of distant Griffith. Service requests were responded quickly. Staff are friendly and proactive. Room is clean. The light switches however did not work very well and can be confusing (had to sleep with some lights on the first night…). The outside environment isn’t so bad like other comments mentioned and even if it was the hotel itself shouldn’t be at fault. All I care about is cleanliness and service.
