I had a great stay with my family at this hotel this past weekend. I was greeted with fantastic service from my valet boy Owen and the hotel overall was great. I was totally satisfied with everything. We will definitely be returning on my next trip to LA.
A great place to stay in Redondo

This is the second time we've stayed here and had the same wonderful experience. The hotel is situated right across from harbor, so you have cool ocean breezes and views of the boats. It is within easy walking distance of several fun restaurants. The rooms themselves are huge by most hotel standards, with sliding glass doors onto balconies where you can enjoy the view. The breakfast buffet is worth it as it offers a variety of dining options. There is ample parking attached to and adjoining the hotel. One of the fun things to do in the evening is to take a long walk along the harbor, as it is protected from traffic and is quiet and safe.
Underwhelming at best

Aside from the lobby, which is light and bright, the rooms are dark and need an update, or at least a deep cleaning. I chose the hotel because it touted itself as beachfront. What I mostly saw was a parking lot with the harbor in the distance (room 3096). The room was not worth the steep cost for two nights mid-week. To make things worse, I left an expensive hairdryer in my room on accident. As soon as I got home I phoned the hotel, but nothing was turned in by housekeeping. That was a real bummer, especially since I had left the housekeeper a nice tip. I was very disappointed the hairdryer was not turned in as it should have been. Furthermore, ordering food for room service is difficult. When you call the room service number, the phone rings and rings and then goes to a voicemail asking you to leave your room number and someone will call you back. However, I did so and no one called me back. About 45 minutes later, I was finally was able to place an order. Finally, trying to reach the hotel by telephone in general (to look for the lost hairdryer) is very difficult. Management should try calling the hotel between 4 and 6 and see if they can speak to a human (good luck). My experience is that one is placed on hold over and over until finally disconnected by the hotel (after 3 cycles of returning to the main menu, the line automatically disconnects). Not a very good way to treat one's customers. I will say the food that came from the room service was tasty and the bed was comfortable, but that was about it. Overall, I was really disappointed in this hotel.
Good hotel for business travelers

I stayed at the Sonesta Redondo Beach this past weekend. It was really busy with holiday parties and events. While the lobby and event areas were decorated nicely for the holidays, the room was a bit dated. However it was large, clean and quiet. There was a partial view of the ocean and a small balcony with a couple chairs. The bed was comfortable. I stayed for 2 nights but housekeeping didn’t come to clean the room. Not sure if it was upon request? The outdoor heated pool was not as warm as I thought it would be but decent overall. I thought it was weird that there were no towels or used towel baskets in the locker room. Both were located in a few spots around the pool/jacuzzi. The towels were also smaller than expected and if I had known about its size I would’ve brought the bath towel from my room. There is a laundry room next to the pool locker rooms, and a microwave in the ice room on the same floor. The hotel is within a 5 minute walk to the pier and boardwalk with restaurants and little boutiques.
