Azul Beach Resort Negril: A Disappointing Stay

Worldtraveller316316 on Dec 12, 2024

Our experience at Azul Beach Resort Negril was far from the "prestigious" escape we were promised. From the very beginning, the trip was riddled with frustration. After boarding the shuttle bus at 3:30 PM, we waited an entire hour before departing, and the journey dragged on until 7:30 PM. Unfortunately, this set the tone for what would become a week of disappointment. Food Quality and Dining Experience The dining experience at this resort is, quite frankly, abysmal. Despite the variety of food, everything was bland and lacked flavor. Worse, the food was hardly warm, raising legitimate concerns about food safety. Authentic Jamaican cuisine was laughably absent, and the "fresh" fruit was clearly canned or otherwise inedible. One evening, we tried dining at the Italian restaurant, but arriving at 9:25 PM (well before the 10 PM closing time) meant being turned away. This left us with the buffet as the only option, which, given its poor quality, was no consolation. Facilities and Room Condition The resort feels dated and poorly maintained. Our room featured stained furniture, chipped shower tiles, and moldy caulking. The view from our room was equally disheartening—overlooking a noisy road, we endured constant traffic sounds that penetrated the balcony doors. It often felt like the doors were open, despite them being firmly shut. Across the resort, furniture and facilities were in a similar state of disrepair, from stained cabana beds to broken beach chairs. Umbrellas for shade? Nonexistent, though their stands still remain, as if to mock the guests. Service and Staff Attitude The staff's attitude was one of the most disappointing aspects of our stay. Interactions ranged from dismissive to outright rude. Whether it was asking for a drink at the bar, hot sauce at the buffet, or assistance scheduling our return shuttle, we were met with reluctance and apathy. Poolside service? Nonexistent, especially on the beach, where the only staff interaction we had was being told the pool bar was out of order. To add insult to injury, the bars frequently ran out of ingredients. Mojitos were a rare find, with mint so sparse that other guests stopped us to ask where we managed to get one. Environment and Atmosphere The overall atmosphere was far from relaxing. The constant parade of vendors on the beach—selling drugs, trinkets, and services—was intrusive and unending. Instead of fostering a welcoming environment, the resort seemed more focused on upselling guests on upgrades rather than addressing fundamental issues. Final Thoughts Azul Beach Resort Negril fails to deliver on even the most basic expectations of a resort experience. From the subpar dining to the rundown facilities and lackluster service, this stay was a significant letdown. Instead of prioritizing unnecessary add-ons, the resort should focus on creating a genuinely comfortable and enjoyable experience for its guests. Until that happens, I cannot recommend this resort to anyone. We are only on our third day of a week-long stay at Azul Beach Resort Negril, and we instantly regretted our decision to come here the moment we arrived. This resort has been nothing but a series of disappointments, from the long wait times and poor service to the lackluster amenities and unwelcoming atmosphere.

Needs a lot of improvement!

Not a 5 star resort!!! Where do I start? Food below average, we had an upgraded room, was run down with peeling wallpaper with old furniture. Food was below average, the only saving grace were some of the friendly staff in the Mahogeny buffet restaurant and in the Akee grill. No laundry service available, not even paid laundry service (even though they provided you with clean towels and bed linen) why not use the same company for that? it was offered in the package but not provided.... rude bar staff, rude serving staff on the beach, one in particular was so rude I don't know how she got the job. Paid a premium for this holiday and got less than substandard food and service. No premium drinks available at the bar, just watered down rubbish, no straws available for drinks. Our bedroom wasn't cleaned for two days as well, had to ask for housekeeping to come and clean the room. Flooded corridor outside our room. Good parts: The night time entertainment was great as were the staff hosting it, would be better to start it a little later than 8 pm as most people are still eating in the restaurants.... The beach was the best in Negril, the only down side was people getting up at 4 am to take ownership of the sunbeds... first come first served....!! The hotel needs a lot of cosmetic improvements, broken tiles by the pool, flooded corridors, with a facelift and a shift in staff, this place could be how it was when it was run by Sensatori
