A Very Pleasant Surprise!

Q7203OBstevenk on Jan 30, 2025

We booked this hotel at the last minute as we had to move up our date of departure to avoid a huge winter storm that closed our airport the day we were schedule to go to Jamaica. So we booked 3 nights as the cost was reasonable, reviews looked good and it is only about a mile from the airport. This hotel was beautifully maintained inside and out. I believe it was built in the 70's and has a little of that vibe. Beautiful gardens, fountains, shuffleboard also made for great photo op's. Our room was supersized to our surprise and actually the size of 2 rooms at no extra cost but that's probably cause we were out of season and there may not have been full occupancy. In any event we had a ground level room with a beautiful patio to walk out to. The open air dining room was very pleasant. Typical Jamaican food choices. Omelet station at breakfast. Usually chicken, fish and meat available at dinner with sides. Very pretty private beach area and bar, fun entertainment including steel drum group that played continuously for at least an hour with no stopping and a fire breathing dance group near the pool at night. The pool was large, clean and beautiful. Was definitely a place I'd return to. Not the level of a Beaches or Sandals resort but far from the price too.

We tried….glad it was only one night

We ended our vacation in Jamaica with an expirament. we booked our last day at Seagarden resort to try a lower priced resort with good reviews closer to the airport. Results…..you get what you pay for. Check in was disorganized. we were sent down the hall to the check in desk which was packed full of people. It felt like a Walmart returns counter. Our room was clean. 3rd floor with balcony. Not so fun fact. the balcony overlooks the entertainment which was so loud from 8pm to 11pm. second fun fact..my kids go to bed at 8. Food was buffet. They did have restaurants. I think one was included and one was extra but not sure. we had the buffet. It was ok but i wouldn’t want to eat it for several days in a row. The drinks were included but poured into tiny cups so i felt like i was constantly bothering the bartender. what we really noticed were the lack of smiles. This resort must not treat their employees well because none of them seemed happy. The beach was small but that part was actually really nice. the swimming area was clean and beautiful. My son was not feeling well and didn’t want to join us for food. We were not allowed to take food to our room. We did anyway but that was really annoying. I guess they have had problems with guess giving away food to the locals or something. I don’t know but we just brought him a plate anyway. We would 100% not return to this resort
