Has Potential…

Yvonne S on May 25, 2024

May bank holiday, 10 friends (all women plus 3 children) spent 2 nights at this hotel. I had read reviews prior to attending and the main theme I picked up were mixed reviews, mainly about negative treatment from staff. So being pre warned I was ready to experience this resort for myself with an open mind, as I’m aware that you can’t please everyone. Checking in - not a bad experience and the wait was not too long. Between 10 people we had 4 rooms. All but one room was in close proximity to each other. The other was on the other side of the resort and this was explained as availability at the time of booking. Overall, nothing to complain about, especially as three of the rooms were ready before 3pm. Accommodation - Positives: our room for two people was on the ground floor near to the main amenities which was good. It was spacious and clean and the decor was nice and overall aesthetically pleasant. The shower was powerful and the hot water was hot! Also had an iron and board. The beds were comfortable. Negatives: The phone did not work, neither did the safe as there were no batteries in it. There were no blankets in the room which was quite cold at night (so you have to request a blanket which we did and received). There was a coldness to everything, especially the bedsheets; and the floor was too cold to walk on bare foot. There was a humidifier in the room, so that was no coincidence. The room has a good size mini fridge however it was empty. The only complimentary items were two bottles of 600ml water. Also there’s no coffee maker. The signal on the TV was very intermittent which was surprising considering the location of the hotel. Lastly, our second day we were promised a towel, however after several requests, we still did not received it. Food - this is one area I have no complaints. From breakfast to dinner, including snacks the food was very tasty, the selections were varied and the temperatures were right. The lines were not too long and you didn’t have to wait for a table. Entertainment: Having stayed three days and two nights, this was mixed. We stayed from Wednesday to Friday. Wednesday night was OK. The entertainment is from 8pm to 10pm which is a bit short to what I’m used to. The highlight though was the fire eater. He was average but entertaining all the same. The May Day entertainment was a lot better. This night was full of fun and laughter. Special mention to the singer (beautiful lady dressed in all white - wish I knew her name) and the MC ‘Country’, he was very engaging and funny! Day entertainment was lacking for me, as not a lot going on within the hotel. Most of the entertainment was at the beach, which is literally across the road. Pool - first time I have seen a pool so empty. No need to reserve loungers as most adults did not seem interested in using the pool. Also, the hours in which you could use the pool may have something to do with it. Not sure though. Beach - although small, this was a highlight of our trip. We had a lot of fun here taking advantage of the free water activities i.e. kayaking. The water is nice and warm, the sand is clean and the vibe was right. It was also great to watch the planes land if you like that kind of thing. Staff - again this is mixed. Unfortunately, most of the male staff who served food appeared unfriendly and lacked customer service skills. To the omelette guy, please Sir, it’s OK to smile and greet guest! Try it! It was generally rare that you would hear staff say ‘good morning’ etc., so staff could benefit from hospitality etiquette. On the other hand, the female staff were quite opposite and made up for their male colleagues. Final thoughts: Would I return?.. No. It’s the small details that make the difference for me. For all the negatives, only if these were rectified, would I consider returning. Having travelled to a lot of resorts, this would rate as average, hence 3 stars. Would I recommend?.. only if you don’t mind the absence of the smaller details. Sea Garden Beach Resort has potential to be great should the stakeholders take heed to the feedback given by their visitors.

Mixed feelings

Anna A (Birmingham, United Kingdom) on May 13, 2024

The front end staff were miserable, waiting staff were very nice, rooms could do with a paint job, the food was delicious, the taxi drivers were very nice and informative, good entertainment of an evening. Close to the beach and airport, no tea making facilities in the rooms , might be a good idea to put these in as some people like a cup of tea or coffee early morning.
