Unethical; Double-charge and avoiding me

I usually don’t write reviews, especially bad ones but I am so furious and disappointed. I had a reservation for December 2022. The day before check-in, the major winter storm came about in the US and I was sick in another parish. I called Booking.com whom I booked through to see what can be done. Long story short, they said refund not possible and to contact property. I understand this. I truly get it. Called property and the manager lady explained because of holiday, they can do refunds so I asked about cancellation and in the end, they accept the modification and told me to reach h back OIT to Booking. The lady said the $291 deposit which the hotel collected for the first night’s stay is non-refundable and they can only issue a credit towards future stay for it. Again, I understand and was willing to forfeit it altogether as is never be back. I then asked that since it’s non-refundable, could I come to Montego Bay and stay the one night since it’s already paid for? The lady said yes. I asked several times to be sure I understood the new agreement. Low and behold, I showed up next evening and the nice gentleman and woman at the front desk was checking us in. They were very pleasant and all. The slim gentleman said “oh no, looks like there’s a double charge on your account.” Foolish me thinking people are ethical and the history well documented, I said that the manager is already fully aware and it’s just a mistake that I would clear it up tomorrow when I return home. My toddler was tired and we’d just journey from Manchester. They ended up charging me that night AGAIN so now I’ve paid twice. It’s been over a month that I’ve been trying to call them, email and get this taken care of. I can’t stand unethical people and I hate to put a business down but this is disrespectful and unethical. I see why evil exists in the world. I will report them as fraud and do whatever I can to get my money back. Criminal behavior.

The service here was outstanding! Want to give a special shout-out to groundskeeper/animal tender/helpful beyond description Mr. McShane. He helped make this trip one of our favorites ????????????. The food was great, but a little repetitive. We took two trips, one on a glass bottom boat/snorkeling and a guided tour of the city. Many more were offered if you wanted a day long excursion.
