We just returned from a 7-night stay and were truly blown away by the experience. We originally had a credit from canceling another Iberostar resort in Cancun and decided to transfer it to Montego Bay. We went in with fairly low expectations, but the trip exceeded them. Our room was beautiful, we had a ocean front junior suite and it was spacious, and always cool—almost too cool at times, but I won’t complain since good AC can be hard to find at some destinations. One small downside was occasional rolling power outages. They only lasted a few minutes at a time, but it’s something that could improve. That said, we understand the island is still working hard to restore power infrastructure after last fall’s hurricane. The highlight of the trip for our family was the Kids Star Camp. We don’t usually use kids clubs, aside from a few cruises, & one of my kids typically doesn’t like being separated from us. To our surprise, both kids were begging to go every day. The hours (10 AM–8:30 PM) were great, the activities were well organized, and a great mix of activities(water activities and crafts/imaginative play) and the staff made it such a fun experience. They were all so amazing! The kids loved it, and it also gave mom and dad some time to relax. I also highly recommend the catamaran/snorkeling excursion through Dressel Divers on the property. Earlier in the week we booked a similar excursion that cost twice as much, was farther away, and didn’t even include drinks. The Dressel trip was a much better value and experience. Usually after a few days on vacation I start missing home, but this time we wished we could have stayed longer!

While the Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites property itself is visually stunning, our experience unfortunately did not live up to 5-star expectations. This was our first visit to an Iberostar property, and sadly, we do not plan to book with the brand again in the future. The Pros: The Grounds & Beach: The resort layout is nice, kept very clean, and the beach was wonderful with absolutely no seaweed. Activities & Pools: The pools are great, the lazy river is relaxing, and there are a ton of daily activities to keep you busy. (Tip: Download the resort app before you arrive to help plan your days). Check-In: Our check-in was quick, though we did arrive around 12:00 PM when it was slow. The Cons & Areas for Improvement: The Rooms: The property was built around 2007 and the rooms are seriously in need of refurbishment. Upon arrival, we found a lot of stray hairs in our room, and even encountered a cockroach. Food & Dining: The buffet felt repetitive and the food was often lukewarm. Furthermore, the wait times at the à la carte restaurants were long, and the meal quality simply wasn't that good. Disappointing Drink Selection: For a self-proclaimed 5-star all-inclusive, the drink policy is highly restrictive. The only included beer at the bars is regular Red Stripe. Light beers are only provided in the room (small 8oz cans)—if you want one at a resort bar, you have to purchase it. Premium spirits like Tito’s and Tequila are also extra upcharges. To make matters worse, the pool bar drinks were overly sweet, and the bartenders didn't seem well-trained in making quality cocktails. The Service & Tipping: While most staff were friendly, we ran into several grumpy employees. We noticed that we had to tip very well every single day just to secure a smile and decent service. Timeshare Harassment: We were harassed daily to attend their "free breakfast, no-frills presentation" (a timeshare pitch). By the third day, we lost our cool and had to firmly tell the staff to stop bothering us. Atmosphere: While the entertainment team does a great job, be aware that the main pool in the afternoon turns into a mix of loud music and rowdy, drunk teens and adults. Summary: It’s a nice layout, but management seriously needs to focus on consistent service, room cleanliness, and better food/drink quality to justify the price. It just does not deliver a true 5-star experience.

The property was beautiful, and the staff was very friendly and helpful whenever we had questions. A special thank you to Obrian at the front desk for his excellent service. The entertainment was great, especially the Motown night, which was one of the highlights of our stay. The food was good overall. We ate only at the buffet, which offered a decent variety of options. The beach was absolutely wonderful. Unfortunately, our trip ended on a disappointing note. On our last day, while waiting to watch the sunset, I stepped on a rusty nail that was 2½ inches long. The nail punctured my foot half an inch deep. I never would have expected something like that to happen on the resort’s property. After making my way to the front lobby, I asked for a Band-Aid and was told they did not have one available. My aunt asked a security guard if they had peroxide, and fortunately they did, which helped. I was also informed that seeing the nurse would cost $70. Since the nurse would not have been able to provide a tetanus shot or antibiotics, I chose to wait until I returned home to see my doctor. Despite this unfortunate incident, the property itself was beautiful, the staff was generally helpful, the entertainment was enjoyable, and the beach was amazing. Had it not been for the injury on our final day, the experience would have been excellent.

Amazing Jerk chicken! My family ate there every day for lunch, opens at 12:30 pm. The best! Nice people! Have to eat there!
