Kudos to Crusoe’s Restaurant in the Comfort Suites, Paradise Island
ok2doit (Phoenixville, Pennsylvania) on Nov 10, 2024
There are plenty of reviews written about the Comfort Suites, Paradise Island in the Bahamas. This review is about the food that is currently coming out of Crusoe’s Restaurant, located in the Comfort Suites. My husband and I stayed in Comfort Suites many times over the past 50 years or so. We chose to eat in the restaurant, Crusoe’s, just occasionally. The food and service has grown to be impressive. The staff is professional, polite, efficient. They work hard to accommodate their guests. We had the pleasure of meeting the Manager of Food and Beverages, Sarahn, and Chef Rashad, as well as Gerard and Embria and another server. During our visit in June, I was hoping to enjoy a lobster dinner. Although it wasn’t available for me on that particular evening, Sarahn and Rashad agreed that they could have a fresh lobster tail dinner ready for me the following evening, and they did have a very fresh 8 oz tail prepared for me the next day! During our most recent visit in November, we happened to encounter Sarahn and Rashad as they were leaving Comfort Suites for the day. Once again, they said that a lobster dinner could be made for me the following evening. They also guaranteed that my husband could have a fresh grouper dinner ready for him. Sometimes lobster and grouper are out of season, but we were in luck. Lobster and grouper were in season! We asked if our sea food could be prepared lightly with just a little seasoning. Our wish was their command! My lobster tail was delectably prepared. It was moist, succulent, very lightly seasoned, and the grouper was prepared in the same caring way. Lobster bisque soup was a special for the evening. It actually had plenty of fresh lobster pieces throughout the cup of soup, once again a real winner. The following day in November, I decided to order one of the specials for lunch: an appetizer of coconut shrimp. On a whim, I wondered if any of the lobster bisque soup was available from the night before. It turned out that I could enjoy another serving of lobster bisque and an appetizer of coconut shrimp. The shrimp were exceedingly fresh —- straight from the ocean —- never frozen (I believe). They were coated with delicious sweet coconut and then quickly and lightly deep fried. I asked for a little serving of Caesar dressing to enjoy with the bed of greens that the shrimp arrived on. None of my requests met with resistance or poor attitude. I enjoyed the meal so much that I ordered it again for my dinner that evening, along with a huge piece of warm, sweet, moist banana bread, topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with Carmel sauce. Each meal was a huge success! Island food is expensive compared to many comparable meals in the U. S. We have found this to be the case at each of the islands we visited over the years, not just the Bahamas. (Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Cayman Island, Walker’s Cay). Here’s the point I would like to make, however. We have eaten sometimes at the Atlantis and sometimes across the street at Anthony’s. Crusoe’s prices appear to be a little more reasonable than either of those two places. For example, one night we ate baby back ribs at Anthony’s. They were tender, falling-off-the-bone delicious. A full rack of baby ribs at Anthony’s currently costs approximately $50; a half rack of ribs costs $38. The following night at Crusoe’s in Comfort Suites, a rack of baby ribs costs $42. The delectable coconut shrimp appetizer cost $13.99. The cup of lobster bisque with real chunks of fresh lobster meat was $11. A huge piece of warm banana bread with vanilla ice cream and drizzled Carmel sauce costs $11. Crusoe’s has the ambience that Anthony’s lacks, and often the Atlantis also lacks ambience because of the crowded situations with dining tables often situated right on top of each other and lines of waiting guests. The outside seating at Crusoe’s is totally under cover, with white linen table cloths and napkins, sparkling clean glassware and dinnerware, comfortable padded cushions on chairs. Tables are not placed too close together. The staff is pleasant and efficient. Overhead fans keep the area cool. During our visit, the inside portion of Crusoe’s was under renovation. I believe it’s about to reopen. That’s where the fine morning staff oversees the complimentary continental breakfast for Comfort Suites guests. Kudos to the morning staff. Each day of our stay in November 2024, Shillan went out of his way and provided exemplary service during our continental breakfast. Employees always spoke with smiles on their faces and pleasantries. They always asked if we needed anything and promptly whisked away used plates and dinnerware. My husband and I believe that Crusoe’s in the Comfort Suites is a little hidden gem of a restaurant. The food is excellent, the people are efficient and pleasant, the prices seem somewhat less expensive than other restaurants in the immediate area. We will definitely return to Crusoe’s in the Comfort Suites.
Great Budget Friendly Alternative to Atlantis Rooms
bryano38 (Fairfax Station, Virginia) on Nov 06, 2024
Comfortable alternative to Atlantis proper. 5-10 minute walk to Marina and Atlantis. Has its own pool that is open until 10PM (compared to early closing pools at Atlantis((5PM!)). A hot Breakfast is included but do not expect too much, however, breakfast elsewhere is going to got you $50-100 each day for a family of 4. Aquaventure and Atlantis amenities ARE included! However you will need to get an armband from the Atlantis desk each day. It’s worth it but will take you 10-15 minutes each day. No big deal. Food and beer is expensive on the island so be prepared! The ABC store next to Dunkin’ donuts is your best bet. Still $50 a case of cans but better than $7 a piece on property. If you want to eat at the Atlantis restaurants book reservations early before you get on the island!
