A sad and tragic holiday. Ruined our 40th anniversary and left us traunatised for life.

The D on Feb 22, 2024

Sadly this turned out to be the worst holiday experience we have ever had. This was our 40th anniversary and we expected a lot more. I honestly don't know where to start. We arrived late first night as had airport delays and then caught in traffic on the 2 hour transfer which added a hours to to the journey. When we got to the hotel showed to our room and then shown where to eat. We was starving after a very long journey and we caught the end of service. Yes there was basically some rice and brown stew and not much else. This was barely warm. But we thought as we are late perhaps tomorrow will be a different experience. But oh no the choices were so limited i mean like maybe two or 2 or 3 mains and 2 or 3 sides. And that was it and mostly local food so if you never ate Jamaican food you was gonna go hungry it was adeqaute and there was no problems with the food just the lack of choice etc. Basic tea coffee etc water, but very basic food choices and being all inclusive we was shocked. There was no snacks or out of hours buffet for between main meals There was one bar from 10-10 daily no entertainment apart from a band Sunday evening for a few hours again we expected at least some proper music or such daily but it was like a ghost town. The hotel is located on a cliff overlooking the sea and people swim in there. Sadly during the Sunday of our second week a young man of 20 years old and his Girlfriend ended up in the sea which was rough and dangerous there was no life guards on site. There was barely any life rings we only saw 3 on the entire complex and one of them was well away from the water. There was none directly where people swam or where the couple fell in or slipped in. I would of expected the hotel to have a launch or something so if someone gets in trouble they can fish them out sharpish but oh no. The boy drowned in front of eyes and the hotel had no plan of action or means to rescue him or his GF. It could easily of been someones child or elderly relative. It traumatised us as we have never seen anyone die personally and to stand watching it while it could of been avoided with some safety measures put in place has left us badly traumatised. And after there was no management checking on the guests who witnessed it to make sure we was ok. They all just went about their business like it was routine. It has taken me this long to actually come to terms with watching a young man die needlessly and being able to put it into words as every time i think about it i relive the pain of watching and feeling helpless as the girl screamed help him to a management that had no plan or means to rescue him. It could and should of been avoided. How much is a life worth because from my stand point a few thousand invested in a launch could make all the difference. As i said we have been traumatised for life by this and it ruined what should of been a perfect 40th anniversary celebration. That aside the staff were polite and helpful Charlie Tina Marcia and Georgia were all a credit to the hotel as was all the staff in the kitchen etc the cooks servers and security all top notch And not firgetting the young ladies who work in the gift shop who were helpful and polite. The managment was polite friendly etc. Just the package all inclusive is basically a joke basically the first weeks menu is the same the second week. Not even a proper buffet as described on the advert it is served to you and you cannot help yourself which i have never had anywhere. And like i said the lack of a plan or equipment to deal with the tragedy of someone who cant swim falling in accidentally is beyond me. Never knew lifes were so cheap :( God rest that poor young man and His Gf who survived will be forever in trauma i can still see and hear her screaming for help from the onlooking management who had no plan or means to rescue the boy :( That will haunt us for life. Please be aware how dangerous it is near the cliffs of this hotel for anyone who cannot swim like small kids etc.

Awesome experience and great staff

Mikael A on Feb 17, 2024

Went with friends expecting an average hotel experience but I actually really enjoyed the staff and how they treated us visitors that didn’t know anything about their culture. Food was great and drinks we’re better! The cliff diving was quite the experience and having it 20 feet from our rooms was wild
