It took me over 40 years to find the best Hotel in NYC

I have travelled to the greatest city in the world to attend the Belmont Stakes for more than 40 years, having witnessed greatness in the form of Sectretariat and American Pharaoh. I am a starwood/marriott guy having earned lifetime platinum status separately in both programs. I've stayed JW Marriott/ W/ Westin/Le Meridian/Autograph and this year finally found my "PERFECT" hotel - the Lower Manhattan Marriott. 2 blocks to the subway. Restaurant Bill's Bar attached is sensational - thank you Scott!! Quiet - try saying that from Times Sq. A housekeeper we wanted to adopt AND THE STAFF - DING DING!!! Winner Winner Chicken Dinner...........Led by the venerable (i think he sleeps there) James Hatzidoukas at the front desk, was passionate in their attentiveness to my permanently disabled wife and her needs in the form of accessible accomodations. TIP - Accessible accomodations typically have a double headed shower system that we much prefer. We were offered a corner room with wonderful views. Convenient to a blend of local artisans/craftsmen and traditional shopping, best wishes for a safe adventure. For me, i've found my future home. respectfully.

Great Location and service

We usually stay at another Marriott group, this was by far the best. Maria at check in a warm friendly smile and professional. Same for Eli on the club floor. Probably one of the best gyms we have seen too, Walking distance to so many great spots

Nice Rooms with Poor Breakfast

Stayed here for one night as a Bonvoy Plat on a last minute points redemption. Booked a double room which was all the app had and requested for a king via the in-app chat. This was not pre-arranged despite acknowledgement on the app, and the front desk staff had not been apprised. I was accommodated in a very nice corner double room, which was appreciated. While there's a US$25 destination fee, I was able to use this at Bills for a burger upon my late arrival. Breakfast at Bills, however, was dismal. They were unable to accommodate a single take-away coffee and insisted I wait an hour to be seated if I wanted a drink. I went back to the front desk and sought points instead. Overall will return again and recommend.

Train your staff to be nice!

Went to Downtown @Marriott NYC to visit my brother, who’s on a trip. Got stuck in the elevator for 40 mins with my wife, 2 kids and my brother. I missed my Uber and it all ended up delaying us by more than an hour. The saddest part was how @Marriott handled the situation after that. I understand that I was not the guest but I was visiting a guest (who was also there in the elevator) and there were two little kids who were really scared. Their manager (I won’t name) comes and (without any courtesy or asking how we’re doing or offering even cup of water or even apologizing for the situation) tells me that “he understands that I missed my Uber but I can always get another one. He doesn’t have any way to make it right for us.” The tone he talked to us was so rude! I know me or my family is nothing for a company like Marriott but the manager behavior costed Marriott a customer for the lifetime.

Horrible dated hotel w front desk staff issues

Checked in and was treated poorly. Checked into room and it had a horrible smell. Staff could care less but concierge staff was amazing. They should teach Geraldine at the front how to treat guests. Won’t be back. So many choices down there in that area. Look elsewhere.
