Pleasantly surprised

Peter R (Chiang Rai, Thailand) on Jan 27, 2023

Really enjoyed my stay here. Check in was fast and friendly. I asked for and was given a late checkout at 1PM. Rooms are a good size and very comfortable. Loved the view from the room. Bed was very comfortable and provided a good nights sleep. Coffee machine was provided in the room. Bathroom was a decent size with a walk in shower. Wifi was fast and free. No bottled water was provided in the room. Breakfast was pretty good, and I enjoyed a few beers and some food at the restaurant. Thought the location was pretty decent too. All the staff that I interacted with were fantastic. Would definitely consider this hotel again when I am next in New York.

A large hotel in a somewhat deserted part of town

Bryce S (New Hope, Pennsylvania) on Jan 02, 2023

We recently spent a Friday night in New York, staying at the Marriott Downtown, near the World Trade Center. The hotel is big and well maintained, pretty new looking. It has an on-site restaurant, a pub run by a third party. The room was fine. Are there negatives? Downtown Manhattan is pretty empty, especially on weekends. The hotel is clean and well maintained, but felt cold in terms of personality.

Great hotel downtown

joeypore (Dallas, Texas) on Dec 26, 2022

One of the best Marriott-brand picks in Downtown Manhattan. Really modern, upscale feel for a Marriott. Starbucks on the ground floor. Nice restaurant / bar with good quality pub food. Staff professional and friendly. Had absolutely no complaints at all. Lots of downtown hotels you can choose from, but being right on the west side highway is also convenient if you’re going north or to have to get to Newark by car.

A Safe and Transactional Hotel

Apecalvin (Singapore, Singapore) on Dec 26, 2022

NY Marriott Downtown is a decent hotel in a safe precinct. With the 911 Memorial right next to it, police presence is hard to miss, making this possibly one the safest parts of New York to stay in. The hotel itself is nice - public areas are simple, pleasant and practical. My room is clean, spacious and functional, with plenty of natural light and a view of the city and bay in the distance. It’s definitely a decent hotel - safe, clean and comfortable. The staff, however… every interaction with them feels very transactional. As Lifetime Platinum, I wasn’t offered an upgrade to a corner room that so many other reviewers were given. I stayed 5 nights and was denied an upgrade throughout the entire stay. When I asked if they had an international socket adaptor, I was told matter-of-factly that I should have brought my own. Isn’t this an establishment that caters to the needs of international travellers? In most other hotels, rooms are equipped with international sockets or the hotels have spares they loan to guests. Don’t expect any of the little extras here, that will make your stay more memorable. Finally, the Concierge Lounge: it’s a nice space with a fabulous view! Food (both breakfast and evening snacks) exceeded expectations. The ladies who work here… they offered the only warm and sincere interaction I had with anyone in this hotel. In particular, I would like to commend Irene for her warmth and kindness. I have enjoyed chatting with her while I had my breakfasts here. Like many executive lounges in the US, this one doesn’t operate on weekends.

Stunning view, comfortable stay

Moushumi P (Singapore, Singapore) on Dec 19, 2022

Stayed here for a couple of nights on a business trip. Had a really comfortable stay, with a stunning & breathtaking view from my room. The location is great, within walking distance from the WTC memorial, and the subway, with some good eating joints nearby & easy access to cabs.
