This is a very large and very busy hotel. I recall staying here many years ago and since then they have renovated the rooms. But the rooms couldn't be enlarged so they are still small even though I had a premium room. The bathroom is very small and only large enough for one person. My room had only a shower and not a tub. The room itself was clean and well kept up. The lobby isn't anything spectacular, pretty plain, but large enough for the crowd of people. I checked in on Friday night after Thanksgiving and there was quite a long line. But I have elite status with Marriott so there was a separate line which had only two parties ahead of me when I joined the line. The lobby has a bar/restaurant in the evening which doubles as a "fake" Starbucks from early morning till 3PM. Since it isn't a real Starbucks, not all the special coffees are offered and the food is from an unknown source. If you don't go early, the food selection will be rather limited although the Breakfast Sandwich isn't anything to crow about! Ha! The food in the evening is decent. There is also a Breakfast restaurant called Harmon Market. I didn't eat here because I thought the pricing a bit outrageous. $38 for a buffet which didn't seem very extensive, no special egg dishes or pancakes offered. But I didn't enter to see the selection. One thing to know, to all food bills sales tax and a 15% service charge will be added to your bill. That makes the buffet close to $50!! Go to Carnegie Diner or somewhere. Destination Fee: A mandatory $30 per night fee is added to your bill. But part of this fee includes a $30 credit for purchases made at the "fake" Starbucks or bar/restaurant and the Harmon Market. But be aware, the credit is available on a daily basis and if not used on that day, you lose it. It cannot be carried over. So if you arrive on your first night at say 11PM, you will get charged the $30 fee but there is nothing open any more to get your $30 credit. Purchases made at the small gift shop do not count toward the credit. I have read many negative reviews and comments for this hotel even some calling it a "dump"! I consider it to be a 3* hotel which is quite adequate. Many reviews and comments mention rude reception clerks, slow elevators (20 minute wait) and dirty linens. I experienced none of that. I would say the service is good but nothing exceptional.
Just say NO

Came back again to cash in Marriott points and hopeful that it can’t be bad again…well it’s worse. As a titanium member I can confidently say this is the worst Marriott I’ve ever seen. Abysmal check in lines, nonsensical emails prior from the hotel describing the pain that is about to come for guests, rooms that were last updated in the 90s, a general stench of an outhouse….and on and on. I love Marriott and will remain loyal but not to this property. This place needs an absolute gutting of both the physical property and the leadership. Perhaps Marriott can see that this prime location and space could be so much more…until then, avoid at all costs.
