Majorly Disappointed

Spending close to $500 per night, I expected more from this hotel. We found a cockroach in our room on the first night, and they merely offered to spray some chemicals in the room, not switch rooms, despite hundreds of available rooms as we booked in the down season and the hotel was nearly empty. They also decided to stick people directly above us (there are two levels, and we were on the first floor), and they kept us with their loud walking and pacing until 1 am every night. Again, there are hundreds of free rooms; why pile us up like sardines? There are signs everywhere all over the resort and the room asking you to help and opt out of housekeeping. Plus, I got multiple texts asking me to do the same. We didn't opt out because we were traveling with young kids, and the place gets messy quickly, but some days, they never sent housekeeping anyway. This was super frustrating as we always try to give housekeeping their space. It's annoying to return to a pile of dirty towels and garbage and dial 0 for items you would typically take for granted. Because our stay coincided mostly over the weekdays, multiple amenities were closed; one of the pools with a splash pad plus only one of the two waterslides was open. We were the only family in the pool with about six lifeguards, and they said they only opened it on the weekends when it was busy. Why not just open it for us? I've never stayed at a four-star resort that tried to cut so many corners and rip you off. Based on the reviews, this resort has taken a downhill turn in recent months, so I'd look elsewhere until they can get together again.
Fun Time with a Few Hiccups

We stayed at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas for 3 nights from Sunday Nov 24, 2024 to Wednesday Nov 27, 2024. I stayed with my wife, my 11 year old daughter, and my 8 year old daughter. We were given room 1925 which is a Vista View Room with two queen beds. We've been staying here for years and really love the resort but there were a few hiccups along the way this visit. We were able to check in at around 2 pm and my daughters wanted to head straight to Splashtopia. I went to put our valuables (wallet, keys, phones, ipads, etc) into the room safe and quickly realized there was no safe in the room. When I enlisted my daughter to help me try to find the safe and she ended up finding a sock from a previous guest on the floor on the other side of the bed. Not a good start, at all. I called the front desk and was put on hold and hung up on and then called again and was able to talk to someone about the safe. They said they'd send an engineer out to put in a new one but it took a second call the next day to get that done as nobody showed up. Luckily my wife didn't swim and was able to carry our valuables out to the pool with her that first day. The rest of the stay went pretty smoothly. My girls absolutely loved the pools, the waterslide, and the lazy river. The outdoor temps in late November were the mid to high 70's and the pools were all heated and felt great. We were given 4 free drink tickets that the we were able to use at the Palms Cafe. My daughters were also given free ice cream and activity bags at check-in that were very nice. We'll keep coming back as the Omni is our favorite hotel in the desert, but hopefully things pick up a bit on our next trip!
