I am shaking my head returning from a visit to the Marketplace store at Shadow Ridge - Villages. Presumably it is high season - April with Coachella event. Not that this is acceptable any time, but the store is literally a mess. The two female employees are talking behind the register and not noticing paying customers at the other register in back (Starbucks). An elderly gentleman was waiting awhile so I went to alert them. Meanwhile, I am stepping over empty boxes and the store in disarray. Cleaning supplies left in the middle of the jewelry, I could go on. You get the point. I expect more from Marriott.
Beware: this is not a full service hotel, and those "villas" is a joke!

We made a mistake coming there with our daughter on a marketing presentation trip Being Titanium Member of Marriott Bonvoy, we are often invited to join for Marriott Vacation Club presentation. We decided to go to Palm Springs, CA to take advantage of great rate during spring break. Well, this place is not the type of property I expected getting used to Marriott (mostly) higher standards. Calling this room "villa" is either bad joke or affront! This place is just dated, tired and not well maintained. Titanium status doesn't help there and it is not even being acknowledged. Long wait to check in, room was not ready until after 4:20 pm, check out was at 10 am (ridiculous!). The room was not prepared or ready for 3 people, zero attention to detail. This room with pullout sofa is also not fit for 3 people, too small and poorly designed. Since it is efficiency unit, not really full service hotel, it is weird hybrid between hotel and Airbnb. Everything was prepared for 2 ppl, not 3, no linens, bed wasn't set for out daughter, not enough towels, glasses, utensils. No tea kettle in the room, as promised. Mini fridge had pretty bad leak overnight and had to be replaced the following morning. Shampoo and conditioner were not refilled, and we had to request to refill. This was more of self service unit, regretfully. One house cleaning service in 5 days. Room was old, dated, the bathroom too cramped, the towels of poor quality, Courtyard style. We stayed first night in much higher quality Westin few miles from this property. It wasn't exceptional, but definitely much better in comparison. The service was mostly indifferent. No good restaurants or decent places to eat on property. Guiseppe's is very busy, standard fare, and rude service, but they are not even associated with the resort, to be fair. It is 2 stars, not one, based only on the low rate we paid. Next time I will stick with full service Marriott hotels, not Vacation Club properties.
Hotel was great and the pools were lovely and warm! We will return!

We stayed at this hotel (two parents and two young teenagers) so this review is based on that. I was worried about the reviews I read here on trip advisor. We had already booked this hotel and I checked the reviews after. I am not sure what area of hotel we stayed in but we were in the 1400 complex in a two bedroom corner suite. Based on the reviews, I wanted to chime in and add mine. Let’s start with a few very minor negatives. 1. Parking can be “hard” as your room doesn’t have a dedicated spot. There is enough parking it seems but sometimes the parking that is open, isn’t in front of your complex. It’s a minor problem but made things a bit more challenging when unloading your groceries, checking in and out etc as your car is not near your own complex. 2. Our main bedroom was so hot and the kitchen/LR was so cold. The air circulation in the main bedroom made for very hot sleeping and as middle aged parents, this was uncomfortable. 3. You can hear the people in the room above you walking around. We heard all the 2am bathroom breaks of the person above us. I’m not sure if they were stomping around but it sure sounded like that. We will ask for the top floor next time. (3rd) 4. Waterslide is very slow. When you have young teens, sometimes they like more than just the pool and need a bit more entertainment. This waterslide is perfect for small children who are cautious! It would have been great when our kids were 2-5. Lifejackets are available too for free. Our teens were disappointed though as we booked here because it did have a slide. The good. And there is so much good here. We will be back and we travel a lot but we will make the effort to return here. So for us, that is a big deal! 1. Water is so warm in the pools. It didn’t matter if we went early mornings or late nights, the pool was a beautiful temperature. Hours were 7am to 10pm. At some hotels we have stayed at, the pool is so freezing and nobody wants to be in it and this is not the case here. There were a wide range of families and this resort felt fun. Throwing a football around the pool as a family was allowed and nobody got dirty looks or angry if it splashed at them. Pool area is beautiful and really clean. 2. The hotel room had everything! We had a beautiful view of the lake and bird watching. The patio was lovely for morning coffee or an evening sit and for quick drying of pool items. We bought groceries and ate a lot of our meals at the dining room table together. Full fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, ten cup QUIET coffee maker, toaster, all the dishes, pans, soap, dish towels, paper towel, etc! Just everything. We didn’t wish for anything else. 3. Hotel is Close to shopping and grocery stores to bring your own food, snacks etc. We brought our own ice cream treats too. 4. At some Marriot vacation clubs we have stayed at, the timeshare owners can be nasty! Clearly, “guests” are not wanted. Let’s just leave it at that! At this resort, everyone we connected with was so wonderful! This resort had a different feel around that and we felt welcomed. We did not participate in any of the events at the Mirage building but there did seem to be a lot of variety of things to do there. The water aerobics every morning looks amazing and well attended. 5. The grounds are beautifully kept and our room was very stylish and renovated. Our room was also very clean! BBQs stations were available for cooking as well. It was nice to have a W&D in the room.
Some good some bad

First of all, the good parts of shadow Ridge, the layout of the condo and the grounds are very nice. The pool areas are very nice and well maintained. The shuttle bus on premises are a nice touch and a nice way to get up to the only restaurant on premises. Giuseppe‘s restaurant is a very nice restaurant and recommended. The bad part is the furnishings are old, dated and feel dirty. They need to be replaced with updated furnishings. The carpets are dirty and walking around barefoot made the bottom of your feet black. There are only a few areas in the complex that offer electric vehicle charging, this was very inconvenient. The condos, that we were in, had no way to make ice. The only ice machine that I saw was at the pool areas. The layouts of the kitchen and the placement of the flatware are out of reach for most smaller people. During our visit, we had six full bottles of wine removed from our room by the maid. The half case of wine was in the kitchen. We complained to the management and they “investigated” . The housekeeper told them she”thought” they were being recycled. Really?? We were not offered any type of compensation by management.
in a city where first class hotels are a dime a dozen this property should be close to the bottom of your search

I stayed February 12–14, 2026, and I strongly recommend finding another place to stay. These villas are extremely overpriced for the quality you receive. Upon check-in, we were told (after specifically requesting a ground-floor unit) that we were on the second floor — and, by the way, the elevator wasn’t working. That was never communicated in advance. The villa itself was unacceptable. It smelled heavily of smoke, which we reported to the front desk. Nothing was done. The floors clearly hadn’t been vacuumed — there were THC gummies scattered across them that housekeeping somehow missed. The refrigerator was dented up, the bathroom sinks looked like they’d been quickly wiped rather than properly cleaned, and the bathtub was flat-out disgusting, with someone else’s hair and visible dirt still inside. The on-site gift shop that supposedly carries food never had basic items in stock. Every time we asked for something, they were out. Checkout is a strict 10:00 AM with no flexibility. When you’re spending nearly $1,000 for roughly a day and a half, you expect at minimum a clean room and functioning amenities. That wasn’t the case here. In the Palm Springs area — where there are so many great options — this property would be at the bottom of my list. Marriott’s villa properties have noticeably declined since COVID, and the service has not returned to what it once was. If I could give zero stars, I would.
