Lovely Spa! Did the combination package (masssage and hydrotherapy pools) plus Champaign ! Yocastly provided my massage and she has magic little hands - excellent massage ! I had a great experience with my sister-in-law! It was a nice treat!
Disappointing to sum it up

As a group of 6, we stayed at Senator Puerto Plata in late November 2024. Good stuff: - The staff were great; they're happy, helpful and kind. They're always singing and dancing, it's nice to see. - Staff are quite grateful if you tip them and are not always trying to get tips in a forceful way. - The entertainment crew was fantastic and always kept the crowds busy (shoutout to "Monkey Black") - The beach was great. It wasn't crystal clear water, but the shore was clean and - The photos match what is on the resort. The views of the resort are great - The price is inexpensive if you consider the pools, views, beach and all-inclusive status. Bad stuff: - Only one employee working at the check-in on arrival. It took almost an hour to get checked in. Seems like there was a general staffing issue as there were not many staff around the resort. - Power on the resort kept dropping (maybe a total of 6 times for a total of maybe 20 minutes). This disabling AC, Wi-Fi and lights for the whole resort. - Wi-Fi was dropping intermittently - The coffee did not taste good for a country known for coffee. - There are so many flies in the buffet area and a few in the rooms. I've never seen this many flies in any resort or hotel. - Booking à la carte restaurants is a manual process that involves going to the lobby front desk and talking to a person, there is only one person. The lineup can take 30 to 60 minutes. This was the biggest pain point. This needs to be converted to an online system or app system because they can't support the amount of people booking restaurants in-person. - When we finally get to speak to the person, majority of the reservations are already taken. When we managed to get a reservation and arrived, more than 70% of the seats were empty for the allotted slot which doesn't add up. Rooms: - Room furniture is damaged and the fixes that have been done are patchy at best. The mesh of the door leading to the balcony was damaged for all three rooms. - There was no hand soap in the bathroom. There were four different people that confirmed we would get hand soap, and it never arrived. - The commode and bathtub were not cleaned properly. You could see stains on both. Buffet/Food: - There are only 3 à la carte restaurants. - Japanese and steakhouse restaurants are below average. The Italian restaurant is great and that's saying something since I heavily prefer Japanese and steak. - Food became worse as it came closer to the end of service. Go within 30 minutes of starting to get the best quality. Applies to à la carte restaurants as well. - A waiter/server needs to give you a cup, it cannot be obtained in a self-service manner. This can sometimes take 15 to 20 minutes (due to staffing issues). Pools: - Pools maintenance is poor. There were lots of debris in the pools. - Around 40% of the pool/beach chairs have their mesh or some part damaged. - Beach towels were not in good condition and can only get them starting from 9AM. - There aren’t enough towels as they ran out of clean towels on many days (or laundry wasn't finished fast enough) Other guests who've been here previously mentioned that the resort has become much worse in terms of quality starting about a year or so ago. We suspect it's related to change in management as that's a short period to take such a nosedive in quality. Overall, we still enjoyed our time there. However, we won't be going back if the resort stays as-is. I'm writing this review to give a more honest expectation of the resort.
