Barcello Jan 2023

ritamacd (Peachland, Canada) on Jan 27, 2023

This a is a very safe resort as one is not close to anything remotely dangerous. There seem to be plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas for everyone. Roma’s a large and comfortable. However, you are 1 hours from the airport over a wi dynbubmpy Road, so getting into Puerto Vallarta for a day trip is an undertaking. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay as I don’t feel the need to go to the city. Loved the tequila Tati g trip. Beware though x the tequila tasting roots tell you that the flavoured tequila don’t oust as alcohol so Canadians can take back as many bottles as they like. NOT TRUE! These are sellers trying to upsell. The border will charge for overage. Two bottle max.Take insect repellent and Stop Itch”

Wonderful Vacation

KJHO3 (Saskatchewan, Canada) on Jan 27, 2023

We wanted to have a very relaxing vacation and we had exactly that. The staff were the best part - all of them so accommodating and so friendly. The only items to note is if you are in tower one - the balconies face north and therefore do not get the sun on that side. However there are great views of the main pool and entertainment in the pool area. Tower two faces south and gets the sun but would likely get very hot to sit on in the afternoon. Location is about 45 to 50 mins from the airport and 30-40 mins to downtown PV. The Premium Level was ok - being able to get room service when we want was a plus. There was a bit of food in the lounge that we had now and again and it was good. However I needed to use the computer room a couple of times and someone was in there with the door closed having a meeting on their own computer - so felt I couldn't go in and disturb their meeting. I basically went back later to access what I needed to. Not sure anything can be done about that but if the person brought their own computer, I'm sure they could have done their meeting in their room. Overall the trip was exactly what the doctor ordered.

Booked twice - Can’t wait to come back!

Jose5253 (Port Chester, New York) on Jan 26, 2023

I was able to book in advance via emailing the spa directly. I was attended to by Diana and Sam once I got on property. The massage service was a surprise for my guest and we got to enjoy a private jacuzzi tub laced with roses, champagne and snacks right after the 1 hour signature service. I loved the service so much I booked again shortly thereafter for a 90-minute couples therapeutic massage. It was yet again incredible. If you’re on property or even visiting Mismaloya for a day, book with Diana and Sam. You will not be disappointed! Thank you so much

Pros and Cons - Barcelo PVR

BRAD_JOAN (Alberta, Canada) on Jan 26, 2023

We normally travel to San Jose del Cabo with one-off's to the Mayan Riviera and now PVR. This 21-night trip left us with mixed emotions. Pros: #1 ocean front. #2 Local boat based excursions - prices negotiable. #3 Adult only pool 4' deep. Other pools include a family/mixed pool, kids pool (small and shallow) and short-deeper swimmers pool. #4: Plentiful sun chairs, umbrellas less plentiful. #5 enforced no-reserve rule (couldn't leave a towel to claim chairs) meaning people had a chance at their preferred area. #6: Preferred guests have unlimited dining bookings at specialty restaurants...other guests may book 3 meals/wk or choose the buffet (we didn't use the buffet but heard some great meals there). We found a 2-4 good/great dishes in each restaurant. #7: Our suite had a large wrap-around balcony giving afternoon sun or shade as we preferred. #8: Room service had a pretty good selection with pretty quick service. Cons: #1: Sand Fleas - lots of folks with large red welts from sand flea bites, even those who never went to the beach. The fleas are very tiny and bites were mostly unnoticeable at 1st, but left a center mark and swelling like a horse fly bite. Welts lasted several days and were itchy (resort store sells insect repellant). #2: Room was tired ... Our ocean front grand master suite was large and included a dining area, living room, bedroom and two bathrooms. The bedroom toilet ran slowly but continuously and was sleep disturbing, plus one of two closets had a door that continuously derailed despite two service calls (I became proficient at reinstalling it ... shouldn't have to). The bed was not as comfortable as most resorts or hotels we stay in. Finally, the location and low floor exposed our suite at times (depending on the wind) to the smell of the wood burning pizza oven or exhaust fumes, even when the patio doors were closed. Preferred floors are 7,8 & 9 with preferred ocean front suites on other floors. We were on the 4th (Ask for higher floor). Staff kudos: the resort has some excellent staff - Premium Lounge: Claudia & Cesar & part time Veronica. Cantina Bar: Edgar. Kyoto: Angelina. Los Arcos/Grill: Luzdivina & Daphne, Sergio and Dany. Reception: Ricardo, Laura and Karla. There were others who worked hard and were kind but these several deserve extra high praise for excellent service, care and kindness. They made each contact special.

We can't say enough positive things of the treatment we received from Cesar Lopez. He is incredibly friendly, and treats all his guests incredibly well. He runs the premium lounge at night, at keeps the place very clean
