Amazing Views...Find Alfredo Cardenas the bartender!!!

ThoseWhoCant (Lynnwood, Washington) on Jul 02, 2022

We booked for a day of relaxation, pampering, and some gluttony :) If you are coming for a short trip, the premium service is well worth it. It provides for early access to all amenities and gives you a later check out and stay. You can also make yourself pretty much any kind of cocktail you would like to in the "premium lounge." There also was a small bottle of tequila waiting for us in the room which was a nice touch. The wait staff works extremely hard and really does a pretty exceptional job. I felt fortunate to find Alfredo at the bar right away and when I asked him to make me something fresh or "algo fresco," he did a phenomenal job of making various cocktails that tasted quite delicious over the course of our stay. When I booked our stay I tried to call and make dinner reservations 3 days in advance knowing we were only coming for one night. I was told over the phone to make them when we arrived... Well when we arrived (at 10:30 in the morning), we were informed that every a la cart restaurant was booked... So this was not a great start. However, they were able to call me around 3 in the afternoon and got us a reservation at one restaurant (our last choice but still decent) and sat us right where we could watch the sunset, which was incredible. Lesson: if you are staying for a longer time, try to book each night of your stay if possible when you get here. Barcelo is about 25 minutes past downtown in Mismaloya... It was under 200 pesos to get out here which was not bad at all. The beach in Mismaloya was sandy and quite calm, much different than the rocky beaches and aggressive tide in the city. Getting to just float in the ocean was definitely a highlight here. Swim up bar (located in all ages pool) and adults only pool are pluses in this family resort. We truly enjoyed our stay and can't thank Alfredo Cardenas enough for providing exceptional skill and service at the bar!

Relaxing very nice

Great resort! Super clean, drinks were great and the staff was amazing, Super nice! I was nervous and thought I was not going to have a good time, but I was wrong. This place was amazing. The only drawback was the buffet. It was OK, but I thought they could have maybe added some other food. But will definitely return.

We absolutely loved our stay at Barcelo Puerto Vallarta. The resort is beautiful, clean, with plenty to do. We went for a surprise wedding vowel renewal that I was in charge of planning. I worked with Yessica Moran, the events coordinator at the resort for months prior to our arrival. She was very helpful from start to finish! Answered all my questions promptly and accommodated all my request for this special event. All other hotel staff were just as amazing. Please tip any and every person you encounter there. They work tirelessly to make your stay a great experience. The only reason I’m not rating 5 stars is due to the quality of the food. We were not at all satisfied with the food. Breakfast buffet was ok. I recommend going down to Malicon to eat, it’s delicious!

Son's graduation

We just came back from a week at this hotel. Overall the hotel was very nice and a beautiful location nestled in the mountainous jungle. We are an average family that goes to an all inclusive every 3-4 years, usually on the Playa del Carmen side, but with the seaweed issues, we visited the other side this year. Here are my Hits and misses for this resort. Hits: Large and nice rooms AC worked fantastic Beautiful location Wonderful small beach 2 nice large pools (very warm though) Resort was the perfect size, not to big, not to small) Great beds Misses: THE FOOD!!! It sucked. The buffet was a monotonous servings of Mexican type dishes that were OK at best. The snack bar was terrible, the pizza was brutal to eat and the burgers looked a little shaky at best. The taco bar was pretty good. One day I watched the pizza guy making the crusts by hand, which were terrible, and the hundreds of flies flying around the sticky dough and topping made me feel a little sick inside. The stand alone restaurants were not much better. If this place could up their food quality, it could be a real diamond in the rough. This is the first all inclusive, that the family and myself went home hungry, what does that tell you?
