I walked all the way from Los Muertos to Velas Vallarta and saw all the various resorts along the way, and Velas Vallarta was by far the most beautiful! We absolutely made the right decision to stay here. I’ve listed a lot of pros and cons, but understand that the cons were not deal breakers (just hoping to help make things better), and I would definitely recommend this resort 100%.
PROS – Gorgeous property with hacienda architecture that feels authentic and luxurious; 24x7 room service; beach-front restaurant; formal restaurant with gourmet food; large resort amenities with boutique feel (perfect size); daily staff (housekeepers, bellboys, landscapers, waiters, room service operator, etc) are unbelievably kind and courteous; very easy to get a taxi with correct rates; always able to get a lounge chair at pool and on the beach; very walkable beaches and the Marina; warm pools; water aerobics was fun; few friendly and non-pushy vendors in case you need something; pretty good food selection (fajitas were amazing); spacious and clean rooms with extra large view balconies (we had a 1-bedroom); in-room safes; extremely comfortable beds and mostly quiet at night; ATM onsite in parking garage basement area; onsite included covid testing was seamless.
CONS – While more vegetarian friendly than most places in Mexico, there was a limit as to what we could order because the menus did not vary; not enough Mexican food considering we were in Mexico (perhaps there are more restaurants during busy non-covid seasons); activity schedule was very confusing because we were given conflicting schedules at check-in plus things didn’t take place on time – probably the most disappointing part for us; check-in in general left me absolutely perplexed because nothing was explained to us and she wasn’t welcoming or smiling; no water sports (paddleboards, kayaks, etc) which many other resorts had onsite; whilst the daily staff we encountered were great, I found the areas like reception and guest services were not so friendly; mini-bar could use a little more variety of snacks and drinks (the only non-alcoholic and non-sugar drink in the refrigerator was still water); I really wish tips were truly included because having to carry cash around all the time was a nuisance (and I say this knowing that it is not a requirement to tip, but how can I not knowing that it is vital to many people?)
Loved the service and beautiful grounds

From the time you walk in, it feels like a vacation... simply beautiful and the staff is so accommodating... our concern was getting back into the states, but the hotel staff was so efficient that they made it super easy for us to make an appointment on the grounds... thank you!
The food is the one thing that was good but could be a bit better, loved the 24/7 room service, food was good as well and the beds... were so comfortable... AHHHH
And we can also thank the pool and bar staff, awesome!!!! Gracias por todo!!!
Jose Luis, Pedro and all others and of course our maid, she was so pleasant.
