Great family vacation with impeccable service

Reka K on Jul 11, 2026

We stayed at Velas Vallarta for a week in July 2026. It was a really great experience. The price was right, room was big, light and modern, perfect for a family of 4 (parents and two teens). There was a bedroom with a door to isolate the snorer in our family and two couches in the living room that served as comfortable beds. It’s really hard to find that kind of set up. The service was impeccable … room cleaned every day, turn down service with chocolates on the pillow. Staff was incredibly professional and nice and went above and beyond. The all inclusive package included 24 hour room service and service for food and drinks by the pool, in addition to the onsite restaurants. The food was uniformly good and in some cases excellent. Both the menu and buffet at the Andrea restaurant were really good with a rotating menu for variety Highly recommend. Much better than other all inclusive experiences I’ve had at larger resorts.

Miss it already!

The place always looks amazing and clean, despite the classless guests who treat the place poorly. Cristina and Omar continue to run their respective restaurants with true leadership and care for the diners. Louisa did an amazing job keeping the room spotless and Ernesto offered spectacular poolside service.

The Perfect Vacation Spot

Alexa G on Jul 08, 2026

This year marked our third stay at Velas in May. We first began visiting with friends in 2023 when our son was four years old. We didn't think Velas could possibly surpass the incredible experiences we had during our previous visits, but somehow it did. What keeps us coming back is the atmosphere and the genuine care shown by everyone at the resort. The staff consistently make us feel like part of the Velas family. It’s clear that they go above and beyond not because they have to, but because they truly care about their guests. Our son especially adored Marcelino, who always made him feel special during dinner and even took him outside to feed the peacocks. Those thoughtful moments created memories our family will cherish for years to come. This year, we traveled with my parents and had planned to spend part of our vacation at another resort after our stay at Velas. However, within an hour of arriving there, we realized just how exceptional Velas truly is. We immediately missed the warm and attentive staff, the immaculate rooms, and the overall experience that makes Velas so unique. Our family decided to contact Velas and return for the remainder of our vacation. From the moment we arrived back, we were welcomed with such kindness and warmth. To our surprise, we found gift certificates for massages waiting in our room, along with the sweetest turtle stuffed animal for our six-year-old son. This was such a thoughtful and kind gesture from Juan Carlos Lopez, the manager of the resort. We had already planned on returning every May, but the care and generosity we experienced upon our return truly solidified that decision. Velas has become a special place for our family, and we cannot wait to come back again next year.

Amazing Trip!

Pedro M on Jul 06, 2026

Had an amazing time as always at Velas Vallarta. The customer service is outstanding; the resort is super clean and offered plenty for our family to do. Marcelino took amazing care for us at the Andrea Restaurant, but we have had him at the pool in years past, and I prefer to have him take care of us at the pool. He is the best!

Wonderful family vacation with exceptional service – a few areas for improvement

Alejandra S (Burlingame, California) on Jul 05, 2026

We spent 10 days at Las Velas Puerto Vallarta and had a wonderful family vacation. The greatest strength of this resort is, without a doubt, its people. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely cared for. A very special thank you to Cristina, the manager at La Riviera (breakfast and lunch). She is the definition of hospitality—warm, kind, attentive, and always making every guest feel welcome. She spoiled us every day and consistently went above and beyond to make our meals feel special. She is a true asset to Las Velas. We would also like to recognize Fernanda and Keyri at La Riviera, and Giovanni and Cristina with the pool service. Giovanni especially impressed us by remembering our favorite drinks after just a couple of days and bringing them to us before we even had to ask. It’s those little details that make a vacation memorable. The resort is beautifully maintained. Every morning the staff is out pressure washing, cleaning, and taking pride in keeping the property looking its best. The suites are spacious and comfortable, and the mix of hotel guests, owners, and local visitors gives the resort a unique and authentic atmosphere. This is an excellent family resort. Our 13-year-old daughter quickly made friends and spent hours enjoying the pool, the swim-up bar mocktails, and pool volleyball. For guests staying longer than a week, the dining options become somewhat repetitive. While both restaurants offer themed dinners, the themes repeat frequently during the same week, making the menu feel repetitive on longer stays. We also noticed that several lunch dishes were consistently over-seasoned and quite salty during this visit. Another concern is beach safety. Due to recent heavy rains, crocodiles have been displaced from nearby rivers into the ocean. Tragically, a visitor was killed just a couple of hotels away shortly before our stay. While warning signs exist, they are small and easy to overlook. Given the number of families with young children, I believe the hotels should communicate this risk much more proactively. I found myself warning several families heading toward the water because they had no idea of the potential danger. Finally, the only disappointing experience during an otherwise excellent vacation involved the pool manager, Ramon Marquez. A lounge chair had been reserved with nothing but a towel for approximately seven hours. After waiting several hours and seeing that no one returned, I moved only the unattended towel so a family with a four-month-old baby could use the shaded chair. Rather than simply resolving the situation by providing the returning guest with another towel, I was confronted in an unnecessarily argumentative and unprofessional manner. It was completely inconsistent with the outstanding hospitality shown by every other employee we encountered during our stay. Overall, we had a fantastic vacation, and it was the exceptional staff that made it so memorable. We would gladly return.
