An OK stay at the Grand Palladium...
alishya (Chicago, Illinois) on Jul 04, 2022
I can only echo other people's comments. Our stay was ok, not amazing, but given the (much) cheaper price we paid, it was a great deal. The grounds are beautiful but it took us a few days to get a handle on where things were and how to efficiently get around. Rooms were in older condition, but beds were comfortable and rooms were spacious (notwithstanding the broken phone, broken safe, no hot water unless you ran the water for 15 minutes). Food was consistently good (not great) but drinks were on point and amazing everywhere. Sad that there is only one café on the whole resort, but those Bailey coffee's were worth the trek. Pools were awesome but the beach was AWFUL (that seaweed issue they have there is no joke... lousy to swim in and STINKY). The various people that accost you for time shares, excursions, etc was pretty intense sometimes and really invasive. The spa was a MUST DO - ask for promotions (like a 50-min massage and a day in their hydrotherapy pools for $100). All of the staff seem relatively grumpy and miserable and getting any of them to smile (other than the front desk and bartenders) is a serious task. Really helpful if you speak Spanish as very few of the work staff seem to speak English. Also liked that they had multiple resorts within the Grand Palladium umbrella - many more pools and restaurants to try. The shows at the theater were definitely cool and the kids loved them. Food was consistently good but not great (and making a reservation at a special restaurant took us hours with guest services). Wi-fi only works here and there and that app is annoying and rarely works. Tried to go snorkeling but it's windy here so hard to find calm waters. All in all, I'm glad we went but would likely never go back.
