Some nice aspects but after a 7-day family vacation, we decided it wasn’t worth y yr money we paid. PROS: -Beautiful beach and huge infinity pool -Coffee shop -Huge resort so even in peak season, it never felt crowded -Easy to find lounge chairs on the beach -Italian restaurant was amazing! -The Boulevard area had shops and more restaurants beyond the main resort area for almost anything you need (though $$$) CONS: -We had to pay an extra $1200 for our 15YO at check-in. Though rooms had two queen beds, you cannot put 4 adults (kids over 12 = adult) in 1 room. Not stated anywhere on website or vacation company we booked with. -Food is so-so at the buffets, disappointment for the price you pay -Restaurants requiring reservations have better food but you can’t book until you check in meaning the first 2 days you will be able to eat at the buffets. You can also only book out up to 2 days in advance, Mexico all inclusives have better food if that’s important to you. -The most popular restaurants were often booked by the AM because upgraded guests ‘Unique’ have butlers who book them further in advance -Poor service, some staff are super friendly and willing to help but most seemed disgruntled and ignore you / don’t want to help you -Slow response to housekeeping requests: took half a day to get 4 shower towels for the 4 people in our room -Broken hairdryer, outlets, TV remote, difficult to get maintenance to respond -Promoted as a family resort but many adult only areas and strict enforcement -beautiful beach and blue water but because next to a public beach area for excursion cruises, tons of random boats hanging out all day

This was a beautiful resort that wasn’t crazy big and even though we know from booking that the resort was full it never felt too busy or crowded. We did the Unique upgrade and the oceanfront buffet was great for breakfast. We enjoyed the Mexican and Teppanyaki as well. The pastry chef must be super talented based on the beautiful desserts at every place. The only thing I would have liked was food available poolside - however I understand it keeps the resort a lot cleaner to not have this! The resort itself is gorgeous and walkable - compared to some behemoths that practically require a golf cart to get around this was so doable. Additionally, the customer service line is not open on Sunday but our flight was cancelled that day due to weather- I sent an email via their website form thinking we wouldn’t hear anything but Monday Ms. Falcon replied and helped us rebook. I was very impressed! I would (and hope to!) stay here again in a heartbeat!

Our family had the best spring break at the Lopesan Resort. Our 10 year old boys said it was the best vacation yet, and I agree! We had the Unique package and it was so worth it. The unique only buffet was wonderful. The best perk was getting a personal butler who helps answer questions and makes your stay extra special. That was Jimmy Sosa for us. He is the best!
Beautiful resort, great service, and our butler Ronald made the trip exceptional.

Just got back from an awesome stay at Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort, Spa & Casino. The place is beautiful and really well kept. Rooms were great and super comfortable. Service was excellent all around, but shoutout to Ronald—he went above and beyond helping with dinner reservations and making sure we were taken care of the whole time. We were a group of six on a family trip and everything went smoothly from start to finish. Would definitely come back!

Staying at Lopesan. Have been to DR and various resorts many times. Pros: Will say that this resort has impressive grounds. Very beautiful. Many water features and infinity ponds, greenery, outdoor sitting areas. It feels upscale in this regard. There is a whole shopping area where some resort restaurants and activities (bowling - paid not included, water park) are based which is also very nice. The ice cream shop has been good to visit. Rooms are very nice, modern and shower is large. Water pressure is not great if that’s important to you. Resort overall has been clean and is well kept. There is a hotel app where you are able to book restaurants which has been great. Other resorts we have been to make you use a concierge for this, which was always more complicated and then you have to tip to book restaurants that you have already actually paid for. Cons: The food at this resort has been okay. The buffet is very mediocre. It’s also not open all the time. There are other places to eat that you do not need to book (The Valley - 24 hours, but breakfast only until 11 am and very limited; Yolo - only 12-5pm and the beachfront Goldfish Beachclub which is 12-4pm with snacks between 4pm-6pm). There is room service but also very limited options. You will not be able to book a restaurant the first day you get here (fully booked). Fairly easy to get bookings for the next day but may be later (8 or 8:30pm). You can only book 2 restaurants each time, so it is a bit of luck in this regard if you are able to get every night (we could not get for one of the nights in our stay). The beachfront is beautiful, but as others have noted, for some reason all the party boats and other boats are gathered in front of the resort, so it is noisy and ugly to look at and there is a tiny swim area. You can walk further along the beach to other resorts that have much bigger swim areas demarcated and less boats, but cannot sit on the lounge chairs obviously. The service has not been great. Most of the staff are not very friendly or even apathetic. For example, one morning we ordered 2 oatmeals and the server got the order wrong and then it was too late to reorder and they just shrugged and walked off. Overall, it’s been an okay experience. Nice amenities, mediocre food, mediocre service, pools nice, ocean in front of hotel not nice. Would I recommend this resort? Not really. Would I stay here again? No. Not for me. People have different preferences and tastes of course, but if you are looking for friendly service and better quality food options plus a quiet, relaxing ocean holiday, this is not the place.
