We arrived this evening and oh my goodness, this hotel is disgusting. We were met at the door by two very unwelcoming women who checked us off a list and told us to follow stickers on the floor to the "unique" reception. Goodness, when we paid to upgrade to the "unique" experience, we didn't expect to be shoved down a corridor to follow floor stickers to the most disgusting, damp smelling and dark room with tarnished, old furniture, that we have ever seen. The main reception is far nicer than the dingy, stinking, unique reception. I couldn't believe that we weren't even offered a drink! We upgraded to Unique rooms but gosh, if this is the Unique experience, save your money. The smell of the unique reception and rooms is utterly nauseating. I cannot unpack my suitcase because my clothes will be damp and smell disgusting like the room. There is a huge issue here with damp rooms. The first room we left within minutes as the damp smell was terrible. We then waited over an hour, not even offered a drink of water. Not at all the "unique" welcome they advertise! The second room is exactly the same. Even the bed sheets are damp and it smells awful. The staff are rude and cannot be bothered. The bit of food we have had was dreadful. We ordered a glass of wine, cheap, tasteless and undrinkable. We had a quick look at the beach which is full of seaweed (not the hotel's fault) however the brown plastic sunloungers are worn, cheap and look incredibly uncomfortable . I cannot fathom why they would have a beautiful beach and then fill it with cheap, tacky, plastic sun loungers. Ironically, there is a sign at the "unique" beach section to alert you to the fact that the area is reserved to the unique guests who have paid significantly more for an upgraded experience, however the two beach areas are exactly the same, cheap, plastic, dirty sunloungers, what on earth have we paid for! The "unique beach" sign is ironically the nicest thing on the beach! We've only been here a few hours, I cannot wait to leave. I asked where our butler was so that we could at least discuss our issues and benefit from the "personalised unique" experience of that we have paid for. Apparently, he finished work for the day and won't be available until tomorrow. Perfect, we'll just sit in our stinking damp room and wait until our butler is available to speak to us. It's not like this is supposed to be our holiday, and meant to be a seamless, personalised experience! Thousands of pounds, hours and hours of travel and this is our holiday! I think not! Stay away from this awful stink hole.

A Wonderful Family Holiday at Lopesan Costa Bávaro We visited Lopesan Costa Bávaro in May this year, travelling from the UK, and overall we had a wonderful time. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with no mildew smell at all. The air conditioning worked brilliantly, and the room was cleaned to a very high standard every day. We had a small issue with the safe and TV remote on our first evening, but both were resolved within an hour of calling reception to report the problems, which was really impressive. The food was good, with lots of choice available at the buffets, and the evening restaurant reservations were a lovely treat to look forward to each night. We particularly enjoyed our meals at Inari, the Japanese restaurant. The BBQ-style beach buffet at lunchtime was also brilliant. The food was delicious, and being able to sit right on the beachfront while enjoying lunch was a real treat. The pool was actually what sold us on this hotel when we were looking through the options available with TUI, and it absolutely did not disappoint! The pool is stunning — like nothing we had ever seen before. The kids absolutely loved it, and we thought it was great that inflatables are allowed. Our children also loved the splash park, which was perfect for our 7-year-old. My husband and I have always said that we would never visit the same place twice, but Lopesan Costa Bávaro really gave us everything we could want from a holiday now that we have children. We had such a brilliant stay that we have already booked to return next year, this time staying Unique so that we can enjoy access to both the older resort and the new hotels and facilities being finished. We honestly can’t wait to return, see all the new facilities completed and enjoy more time in the Caribbean sunshine together as a family. Lopesan Costa Bávaro has definitely won us over — we’re already counting down to our next visit!

Excellent hotel. Food exceptional. Enjoyed El Charto Mexican Restaurant. Outstanding service from Yugkenis, Elian, Rick, Caroline at the restaurant.
