Extremely disappointing stay

????? – Extremely Disappointing Stay This was supposed to be a relaxing family vacation, but unfortunately it became one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we’ve had. From the beginning, there were maintenance and cleanliness issues throughout the resort. The shower’s rain shower head in our room was clogged, and none of the light switches were labeled, so we had to guess which switch controlled which lights. The biggest issue was the air conditioning. Our room was extremely hot for the first three days of our stay, making it difficult to sleep—especially with a toddler. The floor became dangerously slippery from condensation, and I personally slipped twice in the room and bathroom. The AC was eventually repaired on the third day, but by then a large part of our vacation had already been affected. The elevators repeatedly stopped working, forcing guests—including families with young children and strollers—to use the stairs. At one point, there was also a resort-wide power outage that lasted about 30 minutes. The water park was closed, which was a major disappointment since it was one of the reasons we chose this resort. Dining was also uncomfortable because the restaurants were extremely hot. Housekeeping was inconsistent. Our room was not cleaned every day, and despite requesting a standard pillow on the second day of our stay, it never arrived. Another issue that was impossible to ignore was the horrible sewage smell near the first-floor lobby. The odor was so strong that it almost made me sick every time we walked through that area. What disappointed me the most was the lack of urgency in resolving these problems. While some issues were eventually addressed, many others were never resolved during our stay. This resort has a beautiful design and a lot of potential, but the guest experience was overshadowed by poor maintenance, inconsistent housekeeping, broken amenities, and inadequate communication. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and invests in improving maintenance, cleanliness, and guest service so future families don’t have the same experience we did.

It was a poor experience but you are able to make it fun

I recently stayed at Lopesan Costa Bávaro for six days, and while there were a few highlights, I unfortunately would not return. The biggest issue by far was the food. It was genuinely some of the worst resort food I’ve ever had. Almost everything was bland, overcooked, or just poor quality, and it completely destroyed my stomach during the trip. I understand that all-inclusive resort food isn’t usually five-star, but this was on another level. By the end of the vacation, my family and friends were actively looking for anywhere else to eat. We ended up walking a short distance down the beach to The Jellyfish restaurant, and after eating there I honestly could have cried because it was such a huge difference in quality. If good food is important to your vacation, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. The second major issue was the resort-wide power outage. The electricity was out for over 24 hours, which meant there was no air conditioning in the rooms. With the Caribbean humidity, the rooms became unbearably hot, and condensation built up so badly that the tile floors were literally covered in water, making them slippery and uncomfortable. This happened for an entire day of our vacation, which was extremely disappointing. That being said, there were some positives. I upgraded to the Unique Club, and it was absolutely worth it because of our butler, Jose. He was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. He made restaurant reservations, answered questions, and genuinely provided excellent service throughout our stay. He was easily one of the best parts of the resort experience. The beach is beautiful, and although there was quite a bit of seaweed (which is common in Punta Cana), the staff worked hard every day to clean it up. The pools were also enjoyable, and the evening entertainment was fun. The nightclub was a good time, especially with a lively crowd. The rooms themselves were spacious and comfortable enough. The showers looked nice, but the overhead rain shower had almost no water pressure because many of the spray holes were clogged with mineral buildup. Thankfully, there was a handheld showerhead that worked much better. Service throughout the resort was inconsistent. Some employees were incredibly friendly and welcoming, while others came across as rude or uninterested. It really depended on who you interacted with. Housekeeping also seemed inconsistent—my minibar was regularly restocked with bottled water, but several friends in our group constantly had to request more. Overall, if your main goal is to relax by the pool or beach and enjoy unlimited drinks, you may still have a good time. However, between the terrible food and a resort-wide power outage that lasted more than 24 hours, I can’t recommend Lopesan Costa Bávaro. Those two issues alone had a huge impact on what should have been a relaxing vacation.

Awesome Resort

Our stay at Lopesan was AMAZING. We enjoyed phase 1 and 2, but phase 2 was our favorite. Our Butler, Oliver was on point and provided excellent service. We will definitely book this resort again.

Beautiful Grounds, Disappointing Stay

The resort itself is beautiful, but unfortunately the service did not match what you would expect from a five-star property. I would rate the service, food, and drinks very poorly. Our room also had several issues — the AC never worked properly, and only certain outlets/circuits worked. When we brought concerns up, the response felt more like “it is what it is” rather than anyone truly trying to fix the problems. The location and resort grounds are gorgeous, but the overall experience was disappointing. For the price we paid, we expected much better service, food, drinks, and attention to detail. Beautiful resort, but unfortunately not worth the money.
