Brush up on your Spanish and be prepared to tip for attention

Maureen F (Red Bank, New Jersey) on Jul 31, 2026

This hotel is new and they are attempting the luxury brand experience, but falling short, not due to aesthetics, but due to the quality of the service, the food, and frankly the overall execution of the operation. Everything that you need / want to do while you are here will feel like it's difficult to accomplish. Even figuring out how to turn off the light next to your bed will be frustrating. The service staff seems under appreciated and as frustrated by the place and to get their attention you must be ready to tip generously and know a few words in Spanish. Be very careful not to drink any of the water from the tap. They tell you this in the welcome brochure and they mean it. My family was very careful and even brushed our teeth with bottled water but we ended up ill from contamination anyway. Be sure to tip your housekeeper well the first few days and catch her in the hallway to request a supply of water. We tipped $20 a day and that took care of it. There is no snack bar available for the kids during the day, or I didn't see one, so be sure to fill up on meals. Also review the menus for overlap; many of the restaurants offer the same items. Make reservations as soon as you are able to (2 days in advance once on property). Be prepared to wait to be seated. Last but not least and possibly most importantly, the resort is behind schedule with construction and development and is overbooked. If you made a request about a room type etc it may not be honored. And you may wait a few hours for a room upon arrival. We were kicked from the lagoon to the other hotel. It is also not conducive to needing more than one bed in a single room. Overall, I would not recommend and I would not go back.

Amazing Experience

Luis was an amazing bartender! He was friendly, attentive, and made great drinks. The Sports Bar had a fun atmosphere, and his excellent service made it one of my favorite spots at the resort. Highly recommend!

Amazing

Alison E on Jul 30, 2026

Where can I start.. we have just returned home after 7 nights staying at this resort, the hotel itself is just beautiful, so clean all around, beautiful greenery and overall was very impressive for my 1st ever trip to the Caribbean. Our room was amazing, very big and had everything we needed from USB charging ports, a lovely seating area out on the balcony with a nice enough view with greenery to see some of the local birds. Room was exceptionally clean with hair conditioner, shower gel and a few other little bits, had a safe and large wardrobe, shower you had the choice of 2, fridge was stocked with soft drinks, water and a few beers. Entertainment was great, the guy playing the saxophone was simply outstanding and was so nice pre-dinner, after dinner you can go to the boulevard area where there was more entertainment and then you could head into the theatre, we did find prior to shows the entertainment was repetitive with tourists on stage competing in dance moves, the Michael Jackson show-you would swear it was the man himself and was outstanding. Around the pool there was activities but not in your face which was great, the music everyday around the pool was great, really put you in the mood to chill and enjoy or dance if that's your thing. Beach party with the fire display again outstanding. So overall we really enjoyed all the entertainment and would give it a solid 9/10. We did a few trips from the company at the hotel and i'd give them 10/10 we went to Monkeyland although it says 5 hrs i think it was it was more like 7 so just bear that in mind but we loved it, you are on holiday after all so just go with the flow, the mini bus was fine abit of a tight aisle to get up but again nothing to moan about, the monkeys were so cute and made my day. We did a seawalk which included a boat trip, the team on the boat were great, made the atmosphere fab, the seawalk was a memory i'll hold forever but considering i don't like the sea unless i can touch the bottom i wouldn't do it again but it was so well organised and i felt very safe, amazing seeing all the fish, then snorkelling which was great.. wasnt so keen seeing the Dolphins in such small enclosures so didn't book the dolphin trip :( our next trip was to Seona Island and all i can say is wow that was the real caribbean .. amazing waters and sand, the beach at the hotel doesn't have the real caribbean feel there was quite some seaweed but the hotel had staff down everyday trying to clear it.. hats off to them as it felt like a never ending job. Now the downside and the ONLY thing that let this hotel down... Buffet-great selection but everything was luke warm if that, it was extremely disappointing, we did always find something to eat - a cold croissant with ham and cheese (pre made) were lovely, fruit but it's such a shame as the eggs etc all looked amazing but we just couldn't eat as they were not warm. We did go to the steak restaurant and that was a 10/10 and there are other restaurants but we just didn't want to be tied to times. If this hotel could get their food hotter in the buffet area it would be a solid 10/10 overall from me. Lastly (as a cat lover) i was delighted to see the hotel staff not chase the cats/kittens away, they are very friendly (cats and staff lol) and lots of people including myself were trying to feed them and give them water which they very happily scoffed, it's not over run with cats we just saw a few but just good that the hotel accept people who love animals will feed them but you don't get a row for doing so :) so another plus from me on that, if you are from the UK and going and love cats someone we met had actually brought cat treats as she had read previous reviews lol (great idea) Anyway enough about the cats (i would have sneaked them home if i could have) The hotel, resort, staff were all amazing we had a great time and i would happily go back to this hotel (just maybe use the restaurant booking options more) Punta Cana is a holiday i will remember and cherish forever x

Family holiday

gemma_kirkham (Bedford, United Kingdom) on Jul 30, 2026

We stayed for 14 nights in July as a family of 5 (with teenagers aged 18, 16, and 13). After reading so many mixed reviews before travelling, I was honestly quite nervous! Overall, we had a fantastic family holiday, but there are definitely areas where the resort could improve. Because the property is fairly new, it appears more premium than it actually is. THE POSITIVES: * The Resort & Beach: The property itself is modern, clean, and set on a stunning stretch of white sand. While seaweed prevented us from swimming some days, the staff worked tirelessly to clear it. My son even got to snorkel with a sea turtle! * A La Carte Dining: The restaurant reservation app worked smoothly for us. As a family of 5 split across two rooms, we had to make dual bookings which was occasionally clunky, but we always got our preferred times. The Mexican, Italian, and Asian restaurants were lovely with great food and service. * Lunch & Evening Spots: The Goldfish Beach Club was our absolute favourite lunch spot—great outdoor seating, solid food options, and fast service. The Sports Bar was another huge hit for us, offering pool tables, shuffleboard, and well-made drinks. * Teen Entertainment: My teenage sons had the best time thanks to the hard-working entertainment team. They joined in on daytime activities and headed out to the Boulevard most evenings. * Management: Whenever we needed assistance, hotel management and Guest Services were genuinely helpful and responsive. ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: * Inconsistent Service & Language Barrier: Service was a mixed bag. Many staff members were warm and welcoming, but others seemed disinterested. We put a lot of this down to a language barrier (our Spanish is limited), but unlike other resorts where staff go above and beyond, that wasn't consistently the case here. * Main Pool Noise & Vibe: The main infinity pool is visually stunning, but it is not relaxing. Loud music blasts from 10 am to 4 pm daily. During the foam party, the atmosphere felt more like a wild party island than a family resort—twerking, drinking contests, and even a physical fight between guests one afternoon. Fun for older teens, but a bit uncomfortable for a family setting! * Towel Shortages: On two separate days, there were zero pool towels available until 11:00 am. No explanation, apologies, or alternatives—just a shrug. That is a basic standard for any hotel. * The "Hard Sell": From a high-pressure 20-minute pitch for the "Unique" upgrade at check-in (asking us "Why didn't you book Unique?") to pushy vendors surrounding sun loungers, it made relaxing difficult at times. At £4,700 extra, the Unique upgrade simply isn't worth it and cheapens the experience for standard guests. * Gym Age Restriction: A major warning for families with active teens: the gym strictly enforces an 18+ policy. My 16-year-old trains regularly for sport, so this was a huge disappointment. * Security & Maintenance Issue: Sadly, a drunk guest accidentally walked straight into our teenagers' room one night. It turned out the door latch was faulty and didn't close properly. While Guest Services dealt with the initial report well, the door was never actually fixed despite multiple requests—a major safety concern. * Steakhouse (Adults Only): The worst meal of our trip. Starters arrived before our drinks, and our medium steaks were completely overcooked and dry. * Buffet & Drinks: Breakfast coffee/water service was patchy (sometimes arriving after we finished eating). The buffet food was good, but the layout is cramped around stations like pancakes/bacon, leading to long queues. Also, the draught beer often tasted off (the lines need cleaning!), though cocktails were decent once you avoided the syrup/concentrate mixes. SUMMARY: We had a lovely family holiday and found ways to dodge the noise when we wanted peace. If management pays attention to the little details; towel availability, room maintenance, and consistent staff training, it could easily live up to its full potential.

A Last-Minute Change Turned Into a Fantastic Anniversary Getaway!

smartinezpr (Puerto Rico) on Jul 29, 2026

My wife and I just got back from an anniversary trip with another couple, and it ended up being an amazing stay—even though it started with a last-minute schedule change. We were originally supposed to stay at Serenity Bay, but due to availability, we got moved over to Lopesan Costa Bávaro and upgraded to a unique section with its own private pool. Having full access to both properties, including all the pools, bars, and restaurants, really made the trip. ?The absolute highlight of our stay was our butler, Jose Luis Santana. He took incredible care of the four of us from day one. He shared his WhatsApp right away and was on top of everything from early morning until late at night. Every question or request got an immediate response and a solid fix. His local recommendations were spot on, and he kept checking in throughout the day to make sure we had what we needed. He truly made our anniversary trip unforgettable and is a massive asset to the resort. ?Overall, service, cleanliness, and professionalism across the board were top-notch. ?Food-wise, dining was solid overall. El Charro was fantastic, and the main buffets had a huge variety every day. If I had to give a couple honest nitpicks: ?Desserts: Tons of options at the buffet, but consistency was hit or miss. About 30% were great, but the rest were pretty unremarkable. ?Fountain Drinks: The soda machines (Coke/Coke Zero) were super inconsistent, great some days, but flat or watered down on others. ?Honestly though, those are minor things in what was otherwise a phenomenal vacation. Fantastic pools, great vibe, and amazing overall experience. Highly recommend this property and we’d definitely go back!
