Great resort, warm pools, great staff

Stayed here for a four night getaway. We thought the resort was stunning! Upon arrival we got a welcome drink and offered a warm towel. We stayed in adult section, which was fantastic! Photo of swim out room is room 2103! Great location! Yadi was our concierge when we arrived, and she messaged me thru out the entire vacation daily asking if we needed anything! She was awesome. We also met Febe when getting towels, who also works in concierge. We asked her if she could get us a room upgrade to a swim out room, and she made it happen with a negotiated price! She even went to the front desk, got our new room keys, and just went above and beyond! We've never listened to a time share presentation, however, she just about had us convinced to do it because she was so awesome at her job! Food: EXCELLENT!! We went to the Italian restaurant Sienna twice, both amazing experiences! Wilberth was awesome, the food was nice, the cream soup was also really good! We also ate at Tapaz, and Baltazar was another amazing waiter, and the food was great, and I loved the atmosphere. We ate at spoon for breakfast every day, the food was hot and omelet gal was very kind(I wish I could remember her name)! Javier was our waiter for breakfast at spoon and lunch at Zavaz, and he would ask us daily how our trip was and if everything was going ok. We appreciated that he cared. Room service cheese cake also was really good!! Recommend getting that! We called maintenance to come fix our air-conditioning in our room, as our room we switched to was too COLD!! The maintenance worker arrived literally within 3 minutes and fixed it right away. We have never had that fast of service before at any other resort! We also have never had that great of air-conditioning at a hotel before in Mexico, so if you like a cold room, you will get that here!! The grounds were stunning! There are bearded dragons all around the pools! Fun to watch, they apparently are faster then you think, so if you decide to feed them do not hold the food in your hand for long, rather throw the food out to them. Saw a guy get bit by one. Pools: These are the warmest pools I have ever been in. The pool guy every morning was cleaning and scrubbing for hours. What a hard worker!!! We mostly stayed in the adult pool and swim out area. There are multiple pool towel stands near the pools, and they always had plenty of towels for us. The Cabanas are free to use at the adult pool and never had an issue getting one. Plenty of chairs to use. No chair games at this resort, or having to claim a chair at 7 am. POOL BAR: AMAZING! Blanca, Alma, and Roberto are top notch bar staff! They have a GREAT personality, and you can tell they like their jobs! They would walk around the pool and bring us drinks, even brought drinks to the swim out rooms!!! Housekeeping: Very nice staff. We had very clean rooms, and rooms were cleaned daily. Mini fridge also restocked daily, or call and they will come fill it with whatever you like. Miguel was our luggage guy upon arrival and departure. Very nice man! Entertainment was a bit quiet and lacking, and I don't think teens would have fun here, however, this is a great place for couples or people who are wanting a more laid back trip. Everyone we encountered at this resort was very friendly, very willing to try to help you, or to say Hola to us. Great job to all who work at hotel. TIPPING: PLEASE PEOPLE TIP! I was so disheartened seeing people sit all day at bars and order drinks and never tip, as well as I saw a lack of tipping in the restaurants!! These staff work really hard, in the heat, dealing with demanding jerks at times, please please tip them well! Suggestions: If resort is only at 20% occupancy, upgrade your customers or don't make them wait to check in to their room. Also, get rid of your Starbucks and put a taco stand and ice cream shop there!
Honeymoon from hell ! Avoid hotel !!!
jessicaannwillia2018 (Suffolk, United Kingdom) on Sep 12, 2023
Me and my husband went to Azul for a dreamy 2 week honeymoon. I cried the first 4 days due to the shamble of a hotel. Described as a 5* hotel is an absolute joke! The first night we sat in the Mexican and had a leaking roof drip onto me and my food ! As restaurant was full was unable to move to another table. Turned away from restaurants multiple times and laughed at on one occasion and told to ‘book room service’ whilst stood at a half full restaurant even though we turned up over 2 hours before closing. Second night turned away again and luckily a lovely (random) family who had waited over 2 hours to be seated offered us to sit with them so we can actually have food. Buffet wasn’t even open for half the mornings we were there nor lunch times (we moved hotels after 4 days luckily!) The ceilings around most buildings were leaking and had scummy brown stains from where they had also leaked previously. The pools were filthy and the grout in between tiles look like they had black mould growing in them. Around the pools had this brown mesh stuff as you can see in the photos attached. Due to rain fall which is normal for this region this stuff bubbled and came away from the ground making is impossible to get into pools without getting this stuff stuck on your feet. Some staff were very polite and helpful, but a lot of the time we felt we were being a pain and a nuisance for the simplest of asks. We’ve been to Mexico before and know the level of experience you receive for a lot less money then what we paid for his wreck of a hotel. Like stated before luckily we moved after 4 days. The best thing people can do is avoid this hotel at all costs. We paid over £5k for 2 weeks as upgraded to swim up pool and not even the premium service and was totally miss sold. We were absolutely devastated with our experience and during our time multiple other families and couples were requesting to leave the hotel!
