Family stresses because transportation

ilka g on Feb 28, 2026

Everything fantastic, just the transportation from hotel to airport was hectic, they had trouble locating our baggage and we lost the bus, we had to wait for 30min more, and almost lost the flight back.

A great family vacay with 4 little ones!

Marjie M on Feb 28, 2026

Pros: Our family of 6 adult and 4 small children ( 5 yrs, 3yrs, 3 yrs, 3 yrs)had an amazing time and look forward to returning. Contrary to other reviews we found the staff very friendly and the resort very clean. We knew we had to make our reservations for dinner in advance and were able to do so. Accommodating 10 at 1 table is not easy but they were able to do so, albeit at early times. We reminded ourself that eating in Mexico isn’t and shouldn’t be like eating at home. We were able to enjoy the flavours of Mexico but also satisfy our Canadian tastes. We rarely had a problem securing beach chairs and towels and if we did have to wait it wasn’t too long. There is SO much to do at this resort and kids and adults had so much fun exploring. Our kids were a bit young for Xel-ha but they loved the kids play area and lazy river. We opted to purchase our own return transportation to leave a bit earlier. Xcaret park was awesome! Cons: it is very big. I wouldn’t visit if I had mobility issues. Cleaning of rooms were late in the day and one day 9 pm. We could not get our mini bar filled after numerous requests. Signage is tricky but we considered it to be a part of our adventure. All in all, we will be back for sure and recommend that others do their research to make their own informed decision.

We upgraded to Fuego for the second year in a row. It’s a truly amazing resort and the food and service are excellent. Alejandro & Julieta in the Fuego section have top notch service for guests. We will be back for sure!

New phase offers pros and cons | Still NOT good for Coeliac and allergies

Superbenj (Natick, Massachusetts) on Feb 28, 2026

This was our sixth visit to Hotel Xcaret Mexico, and the first since the new phase opened. I need to begin by addressing the ongoing issue of allergy provision—specifically for guests with coeliac disease. This was our second visit since our daughter was diagnosed with coeliac disease, and unfortunately the resort still appears completely unprepared to cater adequately for those who cannot consume gluten. In 2026, for a resort of this standing—charging over $1,000 per night—not to offer basic items such as gluten-free burger buns, pizza crusts, or even slices of gluten-free bread at breakfast is unacceptable. A few days into our stay, none of the three breakfast restaurants we tried could provide simple gluten-free bread. Although staff consistently ask at reception whether anyone has allergies, servers often seemed surprised when we mentioned it again while ordering. More often than not, they struggled to suggest suitable options, initially pointing us toward dishes that clearly contained gluten despite our prior explanation. Only after further discussion would they attempt to arrange an alternative, which was typically limited and uninspired. At a resort operating on this scale, this should not be a difficult problem to solve. Whether through a centrally prepared allergy menu, guaranteed availability of gluten-free bread and burger buns, or clearly safe marinades and taco options, these are straightforward measures that many other hotels manage successfully. Aside from this issue, the stay was enjoyable. The setting remains exceptional. The new phase has improved the resort in several ways, with four or five excellent new restaurants, a very good ice cream shop, and impressive new water slides. However, the additional capacity has noticeably increased crowding. During our visit—a busy period—the resort felt consistently full in most main areas, and the new phase in particular feels densely developed, with limited open space. For the first time, we are uncertain whether we will return, at least in the near future, unless we see meaningful improvement in gluten-free provision. Meals should be an enjoyable part of a family holiday. Instead, they became a source of stress and anxiety, with our daughter left in tears on multiple occasions because she was unsure what she would be able to eat.
