Fantastic grounds, beach and staff
Meteome on Feb 04, 2023
We were a family of 21 and had a great time at Iberostar Tucan. The grounds are breathtaking with all the animals, the waterfalls and the lush. The beach is perfect. Really amazing. But there's always the problem of rude people saving chairs with a banana or a flip flop and not using the chairs all day. The hotel staff should pick up the stuff on the chairs that are NOT reserved with a hotel towel. That way, there would be enough chairs on the beach for everyone. But there isn't enough because of that. Same problem for the pool. The rooms are nice. Not a lot of place to put away our stuff but it was not a huge problem for us. We LOVE that the hotel is now plastic free. What a great idea the water bottles in the room with the water distributor in each bloc. WOW! The food at the buffet Cozumel and the breakfast one is good. Nothing to complain there. The buffet next to the beach has little to offer. There isn't that many choices so we went to the Cozumel buffet each day. The a la carte restaurants were OK. 4 star hotel food. Nothing more. The staff is AMAZING! Everybody is super nice. The cocktails at the lobby bar are really awesome. There's one key employee who has been our rock during our stay: a nice young lady named Nayeli. She was so nice. Helped us so many times in so many ways. If you reserve the garden view rooms, your room will be located close to the lobby. If you reserve the near pool rooms, your room will be located near the pool and beach. It's different than other hotels. It can be confusing. (and frustating for others...) Watch out for the inhouse upgrades that they have, they are a rip off. They charge 3 times the amount of money that they charge on the website when you do a reservation. So if you plan to upgrade your room, do it in advance and not at the front desk when you check in. We had 9 rooms reserved at the hotel and our bedding and location requests were all met. The front desk did a really good job on these request. We had a overall lovely stay:)
Resort credit is a scam / power goes off in room. Hotel is nicer than the pictures though with lots of flora and fauna.

The $100 “Resort Credit” / night is a scam bait & switch. They are coupon credits and the original prices are so inflated it is not worth it to use. Also there are so many restrictions it is basically unusable. If you book through Iberostar and sign up for their free membership with their rewards program you will get free access to the sauna and steam room in the spa. The sauna was hot and the steam room had a strong eucalyptus aroma which was fantastic and refreshing but the steam was really lackluster. The jets didn’t work in the jacuzzi and it was not even warm. They had a cold bucket shower which was nice. The main buffet was surprisingly decent. Not amazing but almost Vegas quality with a lot of options and good fresh juices. One of the biggest disappointments was the power to the room being cut automatically after we had been absent for a certain period so none of our devices would charge. This might not seem like a big deal but it really ended up being a problem. I think the minibar power was cut as well because it was never really that cold. My wife even experienced the power going out when I left one night to go fill up the water bottles. Every time we would arrive back at the room all of the devices would refresh, so it was clear what was happening (despite the front desk claiming the power should not be being cut when the room was vacant.)
