A lovely two week anniversary holiday.

Ray-Edwards1972 (South Wales, United Kingdom) on May 18, 2024

My wife and I have just returned following a two week holiday here, we had a really nice time. The Island is lovely and the people incredibly welcoming and friendly. The hotel staff were simply wonderful, they couldn’t do enough for you. We really appreciated that. The hotel/resort is not a five star rating as described by most holiday companies (including Virgin who we travelled with), but a pleasant enough four stars. It’s the little things that make the difference, as always, like some drinks in the mini-fridge would have been nice, and not necessarily alcoholic. Our room was a bit tired, we paid quite a lot for the beachfront access accommodation that was on the ground floor building in the pictures. It could really do with some TLC on the fixtures and fittings. It was however spotlessly clean. Tips: it goes against my principles, but we were told from during our welcome meeting / tour to get up early and reserve your loungers for the day, it’s encouraged. We decided not to do this, but making our way to the pool at 9am after breakfast we noticed that every one of the sun beds had been set up, with very few people around. Rather annoying. Off to the beach, where luckily we managed to find somewhere under a tree. Book early for the Thyme and Malabar restaurants, there’s quite a lead time. The hotel kindly pre-booked us into the Malabar, but following a wonderful meal there it was 6 days to get the next available table. Book before you travel. The Malabar was definitely our favourite place to eat, especially lunchtime (no reservations for lunch, but arrive on/before 12.30). It might sound strange, but the tree frogs outside our room were really loud at night. Maybe pack some ear plugs.. In summary then, a lovely relaxing two week holiday, generally lovely food (some of the stews, curries, hotpots were rather odd and chewy in my view) and with superb staff looking after you. The beach was absolutely gorgeous, lovely sand and warm sea. Personally though we thought it was a bit over priced compared to how it was described and sold to us. For the money we’d been promised and expected five star hotel accommodation, which it’s not quite..

Beautiful place, beautiful people..

We have just returned from 15 nights at this lovely relaxing hotel our first time in St Lucia and we loved it, very relaxed with great friendly staff. First let me start with the champagne bar what a lovely way start the evening, nice to try different wines, learn a little about them and enjoy chatting and meeting new friends. Also it's air conditioned which was great on the very hot humid evenings we had. The main bar has a great atmosphere with really good entertainment, on many of the nights especially Andrea's Day who is an amazing singer and entertainer getting everyone dancing, loved the nights he proformed. Really good buffet restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner and some nights waiter service which mixes it up from the usual buffet. The two other restaurants : Malabar beach restaurant on the beach is a lovely lunch spot serving great food with super friendly attentive staff, also open in the evening when you pre - book. Put your feet in the sand and look out over the blue ocean. The Thyme restaurant is available evenings only when pre booked. great food and staff also and air con which is great. We had a beautiful huge room, with a rain shower and a huge free standing bath in the middle of the room. It was on the second floor of the two story block number 221 looking out over the garden and had a partial sea view which was very nice and unexpected. Very large terrace with a double size sunbed and a table and chairs to sit on and enjoy your morning coffee, made from the pod machine in your room. Very comfortable huge bed, Bath robes and slippers all in your room, plus a fridge with bottled water, and a good hairdryer. The staff at The Rendezvous made extra sure you were kept hydrated coming to you often throughout the day with ice cold tumblers of water, whether you were by the pool, on the beach or in one of the restaurants your water glass was always full, which was much appreciated. Also would come to you on the beach with cold fresh fruit sticks and cold towels a very touch, also take drink orders from you in the mornings. The beautiful beach was never crowded even on weekends when locals would come with their families to enjoy it as it is a public beach. There were a couple of dogs roaming on the beach but I'm a dog lover so that didn't bother me at all, they were lovely gentle dogs and usually only came up to you if encouraged to do so. Two great pools but we only really used the main one with a swim up bar serving lots of tasty cocktails. Would I recommend this hotel 100 per cent we had a great great holiday enjoyed it all and will return.
