Hotel Tuxpan

Visited the hotel resort Tuxpan in Varadero, Cuba last May 2022 with friends from Europe. The service was exceptional and my room was cleaned daily. Shout out to Yelena Gomez, the hotel manager who made every effort to ensure our comfort, satisfaction, and vacation experience. Will definitely be regrouping with friends back at the Tuxpan this December 2022.
NOT AS GOOD AS WE EXPECT

It was OK for the price we paid. However, too many mosquitoes. you have to bring a lot of mosquitoes spray with you, otherwise you will end up being good meal for insects and mosquitoes in Varadero. T - The beach is very beautiful with big waves, lots of sun, and extremely hot. - We did not like the guy who worked at the bar near the beach. He always asked us to do the money exchange when we went to the beach which made us feel a little bit annoyed. When we asked the exchange rate, he offered us much more lower than the rate we normally exchange. so a BIG NO, DO NOT EXCHANGE MONEY WITH THE BAR GUY NEAR THE BEACH. He also asked for very high tips, and when we tipped not as much as he asked, then he tole us with that money, we go tip somewhere else. - THE HOUSEKEEPING LADY STOLE my husband cigars. We left 2 cigars on top of the fridge in our room in the morning, and by the time we get back to our room in the afternoon after the lady cleaned the room, the cigars were completely gone. The lady also did not changed the linen as we asked her to. - We left our luggage in the luggage room after checking out to go to downtown varadero to have lunch. When we get our luggage back in Toronto, we ended up being stolen 4 out of 9 rum bottles in the luggage that we bought to gift friends. - The staffs who worked at the pool bar and the buffet was extremely friendly nice. - The food was not really good. They told you that you will have 2 a la carte, but you will never have chance to have dinner a la carte because they only have lunch by the beach, and no desert or wine or anything for the lunch a la carte. We honestly prefer having buffet in the room than having lunch by the beach with the rudeness of the server. - More thing about the food is that you will have to bring our dipping sauce with you when you stay here. The food was extremely bland, tasteless and undercooked so it was raw. Me, my husband and my baby ended up having diarrhea after having raw grilled chicken. By saying, raw, I mean there was blood inside, and the meat was not cooked at all which was disgusting. - However, shout out to the guy who do entertaining events at the hotel. His name was Pablo. He was very kind, and introduced us a tour guide lady who was also very nice and very knowledgeable about Cuba history. - One more thing is that if you want to exchange the money, remember to exchange only 50$ at the hotel at first. You litterally can get a much better exchange rate when you walk around and talk to Cuban people. Most of them do offer better rate. We got 18 at the hotel ( 1CAD = 18 peso), but the second day we got the rate 70 ( 1CAD = 70 peso) which was really good deal. - If you get tired from eating bland food at the hotel, but you get a good exchange rate, I highly redcommend you to visit the El Rancho restaurant which is located in the Varadero centre area. You can pay Peso there. The food was really good, and extremely cheap in Peso. Overall, so far this was the first and also the last trip that I have to this hotel. If I have chance to visit Cuba again, I will deffinitely stay at another hotel, or I will stay in Havana to discover new things.
