Dreadful and just not worth it. Canadians will be disappointed.

Terrible. We are from Canada and aware of the situation there. However, this was not a bargain-priced holiday, it turned out to be very expensive roughing it. Take all 5 star reviews with a pinch of salt. This review does not blame the Cuban staff who are very nice. The hotel management needs to do a better job! Be honest about your hotel because the website photos are inaccurate. Hotel is not elegant or sophisticated despite reading those kind of comments on various sites. I felt they were not fully open at the end of June and appeared to be getting ready for more visitors in the coming weeks by opening an extra buffet (but how? there is limited food). A terrace photo showed tables and chairs - nothing like that in reality. Sadly the local infrastucture is problematic meaning supplies are very limited and food is modest and unsatisfying. No tea or coffee service at breakfast. When we asked they brought over something resembling drano. Undrinkable. There is some powdered juice drink. I was aware of food limitations and took my own or we would have starved. We looked at various review sites and were somewhat guided by them - big mistake. The hotel website beach photos need to be updated by the hotel because the beach is NOT like that. We were led to believe the beaches are what you go for. Not at this hotel. The hurricanes destroyed much of the beach and it is half the size. Beach chairs are crowded up too close because the rest of the beach is rocks. Little attention given to upkeep and beach shades regularly fell over and remained there for days. On some days the music at the beach was so loud it was distorted. On a positive note the sea itself is nice and no seaweed. I witnessed a man cut his foot at the beach and the lifeguard was unable to help because he had no supplies. I had a band-aid and gave it to him. Take your own hygiene supplies ladies as there is no shop with that kind of thing. Pool was basic and little shade. No umbrellas. Hotel common areas are in need of repair. Room was clean and serviced. Main cafe in reception is very good and a saving grace. Basically keeping the guests going. 24hr cafe is ok. No wine at the beach bar. Cocktail mixers vary. Juice may be powdered on occasion. Hotel fell far short of our expectations and I would not return to this hotel, nor Cuba. See photos

Had a great time here at Bella vista, hotel was super clean and the staff was very helpful especially Javier and Alexis. Would recommend to anyone! Definitely coming back next year!
