Great Place an Amazing Stay!
TLC198890 (Ottawa, Canada) on Feb 01, 2023
The Melia Marina Varadero is a fantastic resort with a privileged view of the marina and the Ocean. No other resort in Varadero has the ability to walk along the marina promenade and visit the shops along the way. The food at the buffet was plentiful and varied including salads, vegetables and a variety of different fish and meats. Something for everyone's palate! We enjoyed eating at the outdoor terrace in the buffet area. The view was SUPERB! The room was very clean and functional we had a view of the marina which I would highly recommend. The balcony is large and is a perfect place to watch the large catamarans and boats (yachts) coming back after a day on the ocean. The entertainment in the lobby area was excellent from solo artists (trumpet player, singers), a live band, a magician and slow walkers. Yohan the pianist was so very talented (beyond words). The beach is stunning, you can walk forever in either direction. There are catamarans and kayaks available for guests of the resort. THE STAFF works exceptionally hard to please everyone and always with a smile. The Cuban people are so very kind and friendly. Mateusz, the new General Director, is always present and is interacting with the guests making sure that everything is running well. The following staff went out of their way to make our stay memorable, Alfredo in the baggage reception was the first person who greeted us. Yadrian, Wendy, Andres, Arletis, Diana were staff at the Level restaurant who always went beyond expectations to prepare an enjoyable meal experience. Yeny our maid who made sure our room was cleaned daily. Lastly Joanna, Ronald, Annie who took care of us daily and ensured that everything was running smoothly. Muchísimas gracias!

We spent 5 fantastic days at "The Level" of Melia Marina Resort. The food was amazing from the buffet to the Private restaurant at the top!! All the staff was so helpful. All the hotel was very clean. Thank you all for making our holidays unforgettable!
The worst beautiful resort ever

Beautiful location, stunning beach and ocean but the worst food and service ever, even though we were the Level guest (paid extra in the hope of better food and service) , the quality of food were out of imagination, I can call it disgusting, staff are very rude, everyone is asking for tips and if you don’t give, you will receive the poorest service. There is one restaurant dedicated for level guests, foods are terrible there, we are not picky at all, but this was something extraordinary. The quality of everything have significantly gone done since 7 years ago when we visited this resort
Great Resort, Excellent experience

We were at the Melia Marina January 13-20, 2023, our experience there was Excellent, very satisfied with the Resort and all that it had to offer. All the staff from reception, restaurant, room service to ground keepers were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. I would recommend the Melia Marina Varadero, maybe booking again sometime in the future. Thanks to Eduardo Corvantes ( Director ), Joly in the restaurant, plus to all the staff making the experience excellent. Food was good, a combination of European to Caribbean meals, keeping in mind this is Cuba and not New York City plus the very good value of the overall Resort cost. Very good Housekeeping for the rooms and complete complex. Was concerned about other comments about no Hot water, during our time there were no problems with this. As a bonus this location has many small stores and shops within walking distance, prices are reasonable for some items compared to going into Varadero, however you still need to compare if you have the time. Would suggest converting some money to Cuban pesos, some local sellers give better deals otherwise. Many sellers will now take either USD, Euros or Canadian $ or credit cards, keep in mind when using credit cards any additional charges by the card issuer so for the most part cash is probably better. For getting around can be done by taxi into Varadero, expect to pay around $ 20 US each way, or the tour bus is a very good deal at $ 5 US for the entire day allowing multi-use for many stops along the way between Melia Marina to Varadero and back. On leaving Cuba the airport does take time to get through, so if it's not busy it will take probably an hour or more of time to get to your final gate. Cheers and enjoy Liuba & Pete
