Okay resort, have stayed at better
MelanieRobert24E on Feb 04, 2023
Been to Cuba plenty of times. We know going into it that the food in Cuba isn’t the greatest. Under new management, was previously Playa De Oro Varadero, recently changed to Muthu Playa Varadero. Don’t convert your money!! Waste of time and effort. No where wants or does not take CUP. Every where wants USD CAD or credit, you can only use it for tips pretty much, even then they want USD or CAD bills no coin. Bring a credit card, the store onsite only takes credit. On another note, this resort lacked a lot of things. Wouldn’t go back to this resort. Hotel staff wasn’t the friendliest. Didn’t seem to want to help, or work. When asking for drinks or food they seemed bothered and didn’t want to do their job. When asking for help they didn’t seem to know the answers or couldn’t point you in the direction of help. All the bars lacked cups and wouldn’t restock the bars with cups themselves. You had to go and get empty cups from other bars and bring them to the bar you wanted yourself. No pinà colada’s on site. Have never had that in all the 10 times going to Cuba. Food was very selective but was to be expected because it’s Cuba. Renting cars and scooter was extremely difficult. Everything is now done online. No book in lobby from the airlines like before for return flight information or excursions. On a positive note, the beach was exceptional. Water was calm and clear as can be. You can walk out forever. Lots of umbrellas, with shade available. Not over crowded. Weather was perfect Couldn’t ask for better weather.
New Years
bramr2022 on Feb 02, 2023
Family of four (mom, dad and two kids ages 12 and 9) decided to book last minute for a week. We stayed over New Years and had a great time, the evening entertainment was awesome. This is our 6th time to Cuba and we're booked to go back in mid March. I always enjoy reading the awful comments and wonder what people expected when you pay so little. If you thought you were going to a Sandals in Antigua, then I guess the jokes on you. I happen to love rice and beans and vegetables. The staff were awesome, always friendly and accommodating. The Varadero beach is probably the nicest in the Caribbean and the pool is always an option. Here is my advice to anyone going to Cuba: If you are a picky eater and you are unable to "roll with it", then don't go. You'll just end up writing an awful review and have a terrible time. Spend a bit more and go to Mexico or spend even more and go to Aruba. If you're a seasoned traveler, you're not a fussy eater and you love beaches then book.
