Con gran agradecimiento

Elena77717 (Moscow, Russia) on Aug 03, 2023

We thank the hotel staff for our wonderful holiday from July 21 to 31, 2023. We are staying at this hotel for the second time, the first time we were here three years ago. The hotel is pleasant, everything is well organized. Some of the troubles of the stay were compensated. I would like to express my special gratitude to the reception managers who worked on July 31 - Liannet, Liam, Aymata, and the hotel's animation team. If we come to Cuba again, we will choose this hotel.

Good animation

Amenda R (Toronto, Canada) on Jun 26, 2023

Great animation team! They put a lot of effort into making the guests feel welcome, especially the kids. There were different activities throughout the day and we were never bored. Lots of things to do.

Avoid if you have a choice!

Jonatan S (Toronto, Canada) on Jun 24, 2023

Horrible place! You'll be lucky to get a bath towel and beach towels. Usually the bathroom gets only small size hand towels and usually not enough of them. Towels are NOT exchanged for fresh ones for your entire stay. Water pressure in the shower is not sufficient to take a proper shower. Barely dripping water from usually damaged shower head is not enough to wash your hair. Food at the buffet is just simply unbeatable and hard to get! Shortage of meat is affecting the entire dining experience. Seems like meat dishes are rationed and controlled by preparing the meat only at the grill station and in small quantities. Very long line ups to the grill station. They make you wait to get your meals 50 minutes at lunch and dinner and it looks like they make that on purpose. Unfortunately Cuban guest are clearing all meat dishes as soon as they appear and they usually all there is available. Other guests not used to this custom are often left with nothing if they do not act fast or they need to wait long time for the replacement to be replenished. Cold cuts and cheese are served in very limited quantities too. Eggs stations at breakfast are very slow making you to wait too. Tables in the buffet restaurant are usually not set and served correctly. Cockroaches running around everywhere you look. Saving grace is an ala 'carte restaurant. Food is still not great either, but at least they do not make you wait to eat something and the great staff makes and experience much more different than the one from the buffet. Personnel evidently has no motivation to work. For the first time in my life I was forced to raise my voice at the staff to get something to eat for lunch. The pool area has NO shred of shadow through the entire day. All poolside umbrellas are either disassembled or damaged not to provide any shadow. The pool bar occupied heavily in search of the shadow. Water in the pool is far from clear. Hard and difficult to say how many hectoliters of beer were poured into the pool by the guests. Enough to make the pool water smell like a beer. Jacuzzi are in the pool, not working and often full of floating plastic cups. Access to a pool difficult. X shape has an easy and gradual access only from one wing. Each wing has different depth. No access from other remaining 3 sides which includes the deeper side of the X. Only nice thing about the pool is the water acrobatics show on one of the nights. But being at the subject - Bravo to entertainment team. Good effort to deliver night shows. Beach loungers are dirty, often broken, and made with hard plastic. Very uncomfortable. Lobby with a bar, coffee bar and some evening entertainment is shielded from any air movement and not airconditioned. Hot, muggy and very hard to breathe. Only one place to get a coffee throughout the day is a coffee bar in the uncomfortable lobby area. Coffee is not served anywhere else. The entire experience was not very good. Far below any acceptable standards. Waste of vacation and waste of money! My advice to management - Shot down! If you are not able to provide what your guests paid for, just do not pretend that you can still run this place! Shut down! I do not recommend. Stay away if you have choices.

Beautiful beach ruined by loud music.

sebastianlP4703HX on Jun 04, 2023

I have vacationed at this hotel since it’s opening in 1999. 5 or 6 times since. It’s amazing to see a few of the remaining staff from that time. Most of the people at Muthu are absolutely wonderful. The situation has become more difficult in Cuba lately due to inflation and fuel shortages, sanctions, etc. so knowing that, I don’t complain about much. Frankly I really admire the resilience of the Cuban people. Some tourists don’t like the food, because it is very basic and repetitive, with no junk food. In my opinion it’s healthy and I liked it for its simplicity: veggies, fresh fruit, fish, meat, eggs…that kind of thing. Bring extra towels for the beach, unless you don’t mind using the same towels - they have issues with the towels right now. Room was clean and well kept. Also, bring bug spray. Mosquitoes are numerous. The one thing that bothered us was the loud volume of the music everywhere. It looks like the new animation team is obsessed with their own loud music. Immaturity. There’s a big speaker on the beach and they blast it for volleyball or activities in the morning, and then they leave it on all afternoon unless you complain. Sadly, you can no longer enjoy the beach quitely. So if you are looking for a quiet beach, this ain’t it. If it’s too late and you’ve already booked, and you want tranquility, walk over to either hotel beach next door and just tip the guard to let you stay. We found a few people were doing this. Some bands at the lobby were also way too loud. Others were great. And the pool and snack bar area (at times) could be mental loud. Even the band at dinner could sometimes be too loud. Speaking of music, the main DJ at the disco was actually great and loved by all because he read the crowd so well. The other one (shorter) guy, not so much. For us though the beach is everything. That’s why we go to Cuba. So we will look for a quieter beach next vacation. If anyone could recommend a quite beach that is as nice, please send me a message with your recommendation - thanks.
