Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

We stayed at JPL in before Christmas 2020. The property is beautiful. The cabin is very clean and it is what we expected. What stands out from any other hotels are the staffs and their services. Their Staffs are just amazingly friendly and helpful. It is truly a five star resort.

Used to stay here frequently but not over the last year due to the pandemic and other issues Had a 5 day visit in the pandemic and the Lodge did lots to make me feel safe and we had a great stay. The problem is eating. No restaurant open and you can walk to the lodge to order your food and then wait a half hour or you can order the same menu by room service and payn18 percent more plus delivery charge. That is silly. I do not mind picking up my food but should be able to phone instead of waiting around. This caused us to order out and have delivery to the Lodge which was usually free.

I was driving all day on my way to Edmonton and decided since I do not get to Jasper often I would treat myself to really nice place. I called JPL and reservations recommended a private cabin overlooking the lake for 306.00 plus tax. Sounds good so far. I thought..... I arrived at 4pm and my cabin was not ready for a hour. There is no parking near the cabins so the valets have to drive you there. Well it was not a cabin but a log sided rowhouse. Inside the room was plain and dated. Nothing special and not as nice as most regular hotels. The walls were paper thin so I could hear the people in the next room talking as well as their tv buzzing trough the wall. For three times the price of a BW or Holiday Inn I was very disappointed. Prices are nuts. $ 8.00 plus tax for a diet coke and a coffee crisp? $24.99 for On Demand Kostner movie? Maybe that is normal but I am not an idiot. My JPL Burger w waffle fries was just average pub like food. Cost $30.00 If you are only staying for one night save yourself $200.00 and stay at a regular hotel. The staff brag that Bill Gated stayed there. I wonder if he ever came back. We first stayed at JPL in November 2020, this was our first stay in Jasper ever. After that amazing experience from the Crosby Cabin, the lounge area where they make the BEST drinks, (especially the Once Upon a Time-a must try) restaurants area all wonderful, as well as room service, the entire staff is very gracious and extremely attentive. We loved our first stay so much that we booked again in January 2021 and the experience was outstanding. There is a great rental shop where you can rent ice skates to skate on the amazing lake, snow shoes, cross country skies as well as fat bikes, we utilized the skates and bikes and wow, what a great time. There is always something fantastic to do at JPL, and Jasper is only a 5 minuet drive to the heart of town. I recommend JPL to everyone and anyone who wants an incredible stay and play get away. We just love JPL by far one of the most enjoyable experiences, my wife and I have had while vacationing in the Rockies. Notable the history of the lodge is remarkable, there is placards and photos displayed throughout, educating you about the beginnings, the people, about Jasper, it makes you feel as though you are in a little piece of that history every time you walk the grounds. Stephanie and the whole team were so amazing. We stayed in the lake view king suite with fireplace wow! Even better we had huge snow fall during our stay which made our stay even more memorable! Absolutely love it here and we can’t wait to come back.
