We love Breezes, keep it serene!

Cathy M on May 04, 2024

We love the laid back ambiance of the Breezes Resort. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. A shout out to Destiny at Banana Boat, bartender, Dale and waiter Cameron in Garden or Eden for their smiles and connections to guests. Yes Breezes is dated but our 2nd visit and we see upgrades- new patio furniture, new paint. (New chair pads needed for outdoor dining area!) Yes please keep burying the seaweed to keep the beach pristine. The staff was a bit demoralized after a particularly poorly behaved grad group; and not a fun experience for other guests. Please reconsider having teens take over the resort by partnering with Gradcity company. Breezes is advertised as an adult only property; let Grads party in Las Vegas or somewhere else. The mess left and the behavior of unruly teens is not welcome and not conducive to the Breezes Superclub image.

Teens outnumbered adults! What has Breezes become?

Heather C (Kingston, Canada) on Apr 30, 2024

Was so excited to finally be returning to this resort with my best friend after 7 long years.  Our last stay was so amazing. However, we, unfortunately, were left somewhat disappointed in how things have changed since then. The beach is still amazing, and we went every day, but sad to see that Breezes doesn’t seem concerned at all with cleaning up the seagrass that littered the beach. I was told that there is a tractor that does other sections daily, but the Breezes section never gets done because the management refuses to pay for the service.  Breezes has the best part of the beach, and they left it a mess all week. What a shame. The food is still very decent, and we never went hungry. However, the options at the buffet were very limited in comparison to our last stay. Our favourite food was still available which made us both very happy. The Beach Grill still makes the best Greek Crab Salad and Jerk Chicken. Had to have it every single day for lunch. The rooms in the East Tower are very dated and tired. The bedding consisted of one flat sheet and an old bedspread from the 80’s. There was no top sheet, and we got attitude when we requested one from the night receptionist on the desk. We were actually told they don’t provide top sheets because “that is how Bahamians sleep”. It was totally unsanitary to expect people to sleep under only a prickly, itchy old bedspread with harsh seams that does not get cleaned/replaced daily and likely had someone else’s naked a$$ under it before we arrived. This method may be acceptable for the bedding in the West tower, where the beds have duvets with removable duvet covers that get changed, but not for these beds in the East tower! Not impressed with a few rude and dismissive staff who worked reception on the night shift that first weekend we were there who also refused to do anything about the constant issues we had with unruly and unsupervised teenagers from the "Blue" track team that Breezes had booked in and moved into rooms surrounding ours.  These nasty, poorly behaved teens ran up and down the halls screaming, laughing, slamming doors, and knocking on doors constantly for hours on end, even until 5 and 6 in the morning! We did not get any sleep because of the disturbances those first 2 nights, and neither the front desk staff nor the security staff gave a sh!t. We were not offered a move either. The poor ladies in housekeeping were left with trashed rooms and damage. We felt so bad for the housekeeping staff. They did not deserve the disrespectful condition those kids left those rooms in! Thankfully, these unsupervised kids (where the heck was their coach???) were gone by Monday night. We thought we had weathered the storm until we found out the next day that apparently 600 or so more teens were coming later in the week, hosted by something called Grad City. When the hell did Breezes turn into a friggin frat house?? It was at this point that we decided there was no way we were going to risk staying in that East Tower and have it filled again with kids.  We went down to the lobby and asked for a room change to avoid further problems before they arrived. Thankfully, the reception staff were much more understanding and found us a much better room in the West Tower. The day we checked out, we saw the onslot of teens arriving. It looked like you would imagine spring breakers descending on Fort Lauderdale or a scene out of the movies Animal House and Neighbors!  We were never so glad to be heading home from a resort! One saving grace for Breezes is that there were still many amazing staff here who were very welcoming, helpful, and friendly. They make all the difference. I would really like to give a shout out to some of the star staff here. They deserve to know they are valued and appreciated very much. SHERILYN-  Server -ala carte Restaurants, MARILIA- Main Buffet Server, SHANTIA- Pool Bar Bartender - Great vibe & mixologist! KEISA- Pool Bar Bartender INEZ BROWN!!- Omlette chef who cooks with love & has the best smile! The Housekeeping crew & the head housekeeper (forget her name) who was so gracious and a pleasure to talk to. Honestly, you all deserve so much love and a better work environment than what we saw at times this week! If not for you, I would have only given this resort a 1 star, but even still, I can not justify giving it anything above a 2 star right now.  If I were to break it down separately, the exceptional staff alone (with the exception of the rude night reception that first weekend) would get 5 stars. We wish nothing but the best for you in the future. If somehow the management realizes the decision to turn this resort into a frat house was a mistake that is driving away decent repeat customers & returns it to its former glory, then maybe we will return and see you again one day. If not, we will probably never be back & and can not recommend this resort.
