Beautiful property, lots to do, great staff, rooms need updating

La Quinta is a beautiful property with so much to do. We enjoyed the spa, pools and restaurants. Even just walking around the property was awesome - the landscaping is wonderful. Service was terrific - everyone from the front desk to the restaurants to housekeeping were pleasant and helpful. I especially appreciated the front desk staff, as they helped us upgrade our room. We had booked a Poolside Casita, which we felt was too small for the 3 of us, but luckily there was an available Spa Villa we could book. The Spa Villa was large with 2 nice patios, and in a great location in the middle of the resort. Only negative was that the furnishings were old and worn, and the villa could have been cleaner. But we enjoyed our stay overall and had a great time in the desert!
Bad customer service

The staff at the checkin desk were very rude and professional. After requesting to speak to the supervisor on the checkin day, we were contacted by no one during our six day stay. The service is very disappointing.
May Not Be for Everyone

This hotel is a bit like time traveling. You get a sense of a glamorous past that's nearly all but gone. At present, it has a cozy, camp-like, family feel. It reminded me of the resort from Dirty Dancing, transplanted to the desert. Most of the guests were families, and there were children everywhere, mostly on scooters, skateboards, and bikes. (Tip: Stay vigilant as I saw one poor woman knocked off her feet. There aren't any signs anywhere and no attempt from the resort to maintain safety.) ? Another reason it feels like you've traveled in time is because this is probably the whitest and least diverse place I've ever visited, and I include Scandinavia on that list. It was hard to believe at times that I was in SoCal, but then the almost entirely Hispanic staff would bring a dose of reality about the intersection of race and class. As I observed men in polo shirts tucked into belted shorts and impossibly blonde women call for their children--who were invariably named after a Biblical character if male or named after a 19th-century British or American writer if female--I found myself thinking of Margaret Mead.
Beautiful location but understaffed

hotel needs to double staff. very slow service, no towels at pools, hours to receive response to texts, etc. bartenders are overwhelmed. also rooms are hot and beds are old and lumpy. not the level of service we’d expect from a waldorf hotel.

Protected by a mountain range the hotel is surrounding by spiting palm trees. The night lights the trees to create a fantasy of dan I got palms swaying in the wind. There is nothing else like this resort in the desert. A rare gem !!
