I'd Expect A Little More For the Price

The resort is nice and all but they could improve by updating their key cards so they are scan-able instead of needing to insert it. This is minor, however, it just would be nice when your hands are full. I will say the tray that held the lotion, shampoo & conditioner, clearly wasn't cleaned. It may have been wiped down slightly but that's it. Not cool. It was kind of gross in my opinion. On another topic, the lines were always long at the front desk so it was hard to ask a quick question. I tried to call down to the front desk but our phone didn't have a front desk button to push so I had to call Concierge and get them to give me the extension...4 digits no less. Also, the hotel should have known we had 4 people in the room. They only gave us 3 sets of towels so now I'm left calling to get them to bring me another set, which then prompts me to want to tip them for coming to my room. I really shouldn't have bothered to tip, but the obligation was strong. To add to this, there was a wasp nest outside our balcony. After calling down about that, a nice lady came with a broom & some toxic bug spray to knock nest off the 4th story and shoo away the wasps. One wasp returned and hung out there for at least another day. Nonetheless, no one in our family was going back out there. So we feel we lost the use of the balcony. In addition, our fridge was not cold. Basically warm. When I called about that, they promptly had some one fix it while we were out. It was cold after that alright. It basically froze all of our drinks. So that was way too cold. We didn't bother calling about that as we just didn't care any more. We decided to buy tickets for the luau. It was advertised as having family cultural activities but instead all they had were local vendors selling their products. It claims on their website before the dinner, "Live Music, Local Artisan Market, Hawaiian Cultural Education and Interactive Family Stations". What caught my eye about this luau was the Interactive Family Stations & the Hawaiian Cultural Education. No other luau on the island claimed that. So we paid a reasonably higher price for this luau. I was disappointed because there was no cultural education nor any interactive family stations that I could find. Plus, the photo op we did didn't even include any one in traditional costumes to take the photo with. We used our own camera after the show to take a picture with some of the dancers. That picture seemed more worth it than the professional shot. Food was decent and there was a lot of it. Interestingly, the lady sitting next to us just went on up to get food while the people who paid the for the more expensive seats were getting theirs. Obviously, there is no way to police this. That is annoying for the people who paid for the privilege. I wish they could have paid more attention or found a way to make sure those who should be up their first are suppose to be there. A hand stamp? Wristband? Any thing really. Lastly, the tram broke down on our last day there. It wasn't the end of the world as they provided shuttles but the vans were not always there when we needed them. All in all the hotel was ok, but if it is going to get as high a ratings as it claims, I think it should be better.

This is the third time at this location (over 20 years). The room was horrible dated and smelled of mildew and mold. The staff was great to keep it sprayed with Clorox but it had to be done every day. Would have requested a change but needed to stay close to family. The location is lovely. The food was outstanding in all the restaurants and convention center. The grounds are looking a bit seedy in some areas. The staff are outstanding.

Fantastic hotels and the complimentary resort boats and trains between buildings is great. few onsite shops and stores but if you want more and cheaper supplies then there is a shuttle to the Kings & Queens shopping centres, $2 per person, one way If you sign up for the time share type experience then you get a experience discount card for various shops and trips. No pressure selling and 2 hour presentation

I am sitting in our room as I write this so everything is fresh in my mind. First this hotel is huge with so many different towers that they have a monorail and a boat bc there is SO MUCH walking involved even after taking the transportation, so this resort is not for the out of shape or disabled bc you will easily put 12000+ steps in a day. Why?? Because even though there is transportation and you just plan on sitting at the pool 1) the monorail breaks(it’s been out all week) and it’s slow, it sits at each stop and the boat is even slower so it’s more effective to just walk and 2) there are hardly any food options here! So you have to walk all over the high heavens to find any food!! That is the biggest disappointment, we wanted to sit by the pool and have drinks and food served to us yet this is not even an option. One of the pools there is a beer truck that will drive by with cans of beer of rose or sparkly and chips, that’s it. At the other pool which is 1/2mile walk from ocean tower past the lagoon and all the way out to the ocean where there are waterfalls and a slide, there is a pool bar that you have to get up and go to yourself unless you want to pay extra money for the cushioned pool chairs in which you will get a server. However there is no pool grill it’s a little café with premade wraps and nasty nachos. SO since the locals can buy day passes to the property/pools you see them come in with coolers full of beer and food, so now we started to understand that this is very expensive resort in a beautiful location with few food choices so the cost of the food is insane!! Only 1, that’s right 1 breakfast place for 1000’s of people and it’s a big buffet $40pp and $20 per child. I paid $20 for a self made waffle and water for each kid????? ... the lagoon grill is the most basic of menus burgers and junk .. I don’t understand why they have burgers everywhere bc in the heat the last thing I want while sitting in my bathing suit is a heavy big burger. So the only option is to go into the little sundry stores and buy cans of Pringles or macadamia nuts and some of your own white claw or bottles of wine to take to the pool because there is no poolside service basically at any of the pools and the one restaurant near the pool has basic food. There are 3 other restaurants, the cantina which is good and next to our room in the ocean tower, Nui which has pasta for the kids and the super fancy place that coasts $350 for 2 kids meals a bottle of wine and two adult dishes... yeah so plan on using your car to find other food options s in the Kong’s and Queens shops down the road. Lastly our room just smelled of mildew the carpet is old and matted down, the AC barely works, the bathroom is just old and wallpaper coming off etc. So my advice is go to an all inclusive in Mexico if you have kids, so you don’t get charged for every wasted meal, it’s overall less expensive and chances are you’ll have just as good a time.

    Perfect....Even For Adults Only

My wife and I stayed here in June 2019 on our first visit to Hawaii. What a perfect stay. The lagoon was full of turtles, the dolphins were playful, the golf course was perfect, and the walkways offered a quick and easy getaway even along the golf course. Not to mention great restaurants on site and nearby. Breakfast on location was great and we made sure to find the same awesome waitress every day. Easy drives to Hilo, Kona, and north side. We actually transitioned to Maui for a 5 day stay, but the environment was not at all what we wanted and we came right back for our last 4 days.
