No water, can't shower, can't flush, horrible. Poor excuses from all the staff, ots like they are afraid to tell truth.3 days of

This place is deplorable, for anyone who traveled and been other places, will never come back here, the government should put inspectors here a d deal with the owners. This is the poorest representation of the Jamaican brand, I'm ashamed to be associated with this place. Where is our tourism ministry, please look at this place, and correct it. This is what gives Jamaica a bad name

A lengthy honest review

Joseph S on May 01, 2024

We debated changing hotels a month before we were due to leave, after reading quite a few recent negative reviews and seeing the rating had dropped to a 3 star since we’d originally booked it. Eventually we decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and stick with it. Well, we wish we’d changed hotels now! To start, the beach and sea views are beautiful. The beach isn’t huge but it’s private to guests, so it was never overcrowded. However early risers did tend to reserve sun loungers with towels, go about their mornings and sometimes not return to their prime spots until a few hours later (despite the signs saying unattended reservations would be removed after 30 minutes.) We did see a few people struggle to find unreserved sun loungers on the beach occasionally, but there are plenty around the pool which unfortunately aren’t shaded. There are some free to use kayaks on the beach which is a nice touch and glass bottom/snorkelling tours available from the beach also. Overall if it wasn’t for the beach I’d give this hotel a 2 star review. The staff were what really let it down and frustrated me. Apart from three or four genuinely lovely staff the other 20 or so we came into contact with were rude, inhospitable and unhelpful, including our TUI rep. Most of them looked like they didn’t want to be there and a lot of them looked like they didn’t need to be there. There always seemed to be one or two doing all the work and about five doing nothing at all. Once I tried to get a drink from the beach bar, there were 20 or so guests, five staff behind the bar and only one of them could make drinks. The other four were genuinely stood there doing absolutely nothing. After 10 minutes I got annoyed and left. The food was average at best and very repetitive. At least most of it was self service so you didn’t have to rely on staff to get a meal. Good luck if you wanted ice cream as there was never anyone manning the area and when asked the staff huffed at the inconvenience. The room itself was ok except our toilet didn’t flush a lot, sometimes hours at a time, and I honestly think i can dribble faster than the shower. I resorted to washing my sandy feet in the sink most days. House keeping was very hit and miss. Some days you got clean towels, sometimes one and sometimes none. Same for restocking the fridge. You did get two small bottles of coca-cola, two small tins of red stripe and a big bottle of water everyday… if they had it, mostly not. The only thing you could guarantee was the sunset, which was stunning. Also be warmed, at night especially the main road is quite noisy until the early hours of the morning. All in all our best times were spent on excursions and day trips. If you’re looking for somewhere to chill on the beach or by the pool all day, go somewhere else.

Quiet Relaxing Resort.

Nicholas B on Apr 29, 2024

This was my second time at Royal Decameron and it was just as good as the first time. This is more of a quiet family resort, which I prefer. This resort is about relaxing, enjoying the sunset, the food and the beach. You get a perfect view. I’ll be visiting again some time next year

Dissapointing

233jilld (Perth, Australia) on Apr 27, 2024

Pros: the location is fabulous! The beach is really lovely and clean. Snorkelling off the beach is fabulous over the rocks! Cons: it’s hard to know where to start? At first the rooms appear roomy and light with fab views across the ocean…until you look a bit further, they are not so clean and need maintenance attention. Although the beach is wonderful, you will be lucky to get a sunbed on the beach as they are reserved by early risers from 5am onwards ??. There are not enough sunbeds to go around on the beach. The sunbeds by the pool are readily available but have no shade or parasols ?? The restaurant: very mediocre, food never hot and very repetitive. Never had a teaspoon the whole time, so you get used to stirring your coffee with the end of your fork! Breakfast tea was never available throughout our stay even after asking for it at day 1. Restaurant staff are very rude and simply don’t care…I’m not sure why this attitude is but believe me, it’s quite severe and Carry’s through to the bar staff too ?? The wait staff are very hit & miss… you may get served- you might not. Never been to an all inclusive before where there is a tip jar at the breakfast omelette station and if you don’t tip - you don’t get! We tried the coffee bar which was open but no staff there to serve? We went to the snack bar as we missed the breakfast, was supposed to be open 11am…still no staff there at 11.30am so just left ????? Went to the sister hotel next door for the evening entertainment…the bar staff are very rude, customer service is NOT within their job description obviously…I’ve never come across such rude staff at a hotel… EVER! So…this hotel has a fabulous location but is severely lacking in EVERYTHING ELSE!

A Birthday Ruined at Royal Decameron Cornwall, Jamaica!!!

April B (Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania) on Apr 24, 2024

My recent stay at the Royal Decameron Cornwall in Jamaica was, without a doubt, the worst hotel experience I have ever endured. What was meant to be a joyous celebration of a milestone birthday turned into a series of frustrating and unpleasant encounters that marred the entire trip. From the get-go, the service was abysmal. The staff at meal times displayed unprofessional attitudes; they seemed utterly disinterested in their duties, often letting us know they were off shift in the most disrespectful ways imaginable—eye-rolling, huffing, and puffing included. Their lack of hospitality made each dining experience more dreadful than the last. The condition of the rooms was shockingly poor. Initially, my room had no running water, a stopped-up toilet, and a broken safe—essentials you’d expect any decent hotel to manage flawlessly. After repacking and moving to another room, hoping for improvement, I was met with more of the same: no hot water and continual plumbing issues. To add insult to injury, obtaining clean towels felt like a Herculean task, with the staff often informing us none were available, without any attempt to resolve the situation. Even basic housekeeping services failed miserably. Rooms were left as dirty post-cleaning as they were before, which suggests a severe negligence in maintaining hygiene standards. As for the food, it was consistently unappetizing and poorly prepared, far below the expectations for a hotel of this supposed caliber. I am utterly disappointed with my experience at the Royal Decameron Cornwall and will be taking this matter up with corporate. For a hotel that markets itself as a premium destination, my experience was anything but. I strongly advise against staying here—there are far better options in Jamaica that truly understand the meaning of hospitality and guest satisfaction.
