My wife and I traveled to Barbados in November of 2020, during strict guidelines due to coronavirus. This was our fourth stay at the Sandals resort on Barbados. We felt VERY safe the moment we landed at the airport. There were many stations to get through that checked our covid tests and got us through the check in process. We received a private ride to the resort, and once on site there were hand sanitizing locations everywhere and everyone was on top of their game. The vacation, as always, was amazing. We ate at our favorite restraunts, found our favorite staff members who we have become fond of over the years and enjoyed every second of our luxury stay. Sandals is the top tier of the 5 star market and we are always thrilled to return. Looking forward to our fifth trip back to Barbados!

Middle of the “Virus” scare? I booked in January, Barbados was open and we were going! We needed a “Virus” test within 72 hours of leaving. The horror, was we had to wait 3 hours in 40-degree weather to get the test done. Needless to say, our bones were aching. Kitty got her results back 48 hours before the flight. In utter stress my results arrived 1 hour before the flight. On the plane we went, American Airlines with nobody in the middle seat, Paradise. We arrived in Barbados and 5 at a time left the plane. All carry on bags had to go through a disinfected spray. We collected the carry on bag. Next, our hands were sprayed then we had to show our Negative Virus test before entering the airport. Next our hands were sprayed and two bands were placed on our wrist. Hotel and red wrist band, we would remove them after we arrived at the resort. Next, we had to fill out a form about health. Next our hands were sprayed and we moved to immigration. We had to show our on-line immigration form and passport through a window, no contact. Our passports were not stamped. Next, we were sprayed and went to health/ nurse line. We were again Sprayed and were given paper work by the Dept of Health. Finally, we made it to luggage claim. Finally, out the door. Where our hands were sprayed and we were told where to go. We were off to the sandals taxi; were we were sprayed. Off to the resort. I don’t think there are any germs at all in Barbados. RESORT TIME We arrived and were sprayed. A wet towel was given and we moved to the Sandals Club room. Sprayed and we had to fill out a I-pad form that I already did with my Sandals App, buy they said they never got it. We checked in and we were escorted to our Club Level Swim out room. Talking to the staff and management about 1/3 of the workforce is back to work. Barbados side of the Resort was semi mothballed and most of the action was on Royal Barbados side. That means about 1/3 of the resort was booked and under “virus” precautions. What did that mean? It was like having a resort to yourself. You always see the advertisements with empty beaches, solitary dining in restaurants and nobody in the pool and hot tubs, all to you yourself. Just a romantic dream, all alone. Wow! Well that was exactly what it was like, that dream vacation you always wanted. The staff was over helpful if that can happen, sometimes at night the resort can be a maze looking for restaurants, the staff almost grabs your hands and drags you to the restaurant door to make sure you arrive. Unlike a store you shop in, where you can’t find help, there was no lack of friendly, smiling courtesy and fun service at Sandals. Beach: an empty white sand beach with beautiful turquoise water. No fighting to get a beach chair or umbrella. Constant drink service. Paradise. Remember these are public beaches so once you leave the property you may be approached to see if you want to buy some “sugarcane” Security is always very close by to keep you safe and discourage “Sugarcane” on the property. Pools; Beautiful and just a few couples at the swim up bar. There was daily entertainment, music, sports and organized games at the pool. Upper pool by the front desk was almost always empty, so getting a drink and enjoying the hot tub was Paradise. Roof top pool and hot tub, also empty, which was once again paradise drinking a blue Island Vibe. Restaurants: Due to the “virus” the restaurants were on a shifting schedule, so you did have to make reservation to make sure the one you wanted was open that day. All the restaurants were open one time or another. Sandals has the standard restaurants which you have come to expect good quality. Everything was sit down dinner, no buffet. We usually love the all-day buffets and selections. So that was a minus because of the situation. You could not pile on the plate with a delicious array of food, I missed the cheese and fresh bread and pastry station and the plethora of desserts. All now limited to sit down. We did the Parisian, Butch’s, Schooners and Soy. Soy was a bit disappointing. Using frozen fish sometimes the fish get mushy and wet and the rice was also very watery. (Remember what my name is, I do know sushi) They need to toast the seaweed more to get it crunchy. The cooked food was good. For lunch it was Neptune every day, that was always fun, good view of the ocean and excellent service and food. We never made it to Dino’s or Jerk, which other people loved. Breakfast was served at the American Tavern and the Parisian on the roof, we rotated between the two. Breakfast is always good, but a limited sit-down menu, no buffet. I miss my buffet. Merry Monkey. An English pub was empty so of course you can’t do anything but have fun with Frank, Corrie, Jack, Kyle and Dwayne and all the staff. A Great selection of world beers, and if they dint have one in stock they ran to the other bar and would bring them back, Fantastic service, food and drink Merry Monkey = Paradise. Sweet and Salty Donut shop = Paradise. Cappuccino and donuts = Paradise Entertainment. The entertainment was good. You have to feel bad for performers who work their tails off for just a hand full in the audience, a sign of true professionals who love their job and want to entertain. Lover Lane Sports Bar, the Bowling ally was always busy, but social distancing limited it to two open lanes. There were lots of table games, air hock, foosball to keep you busy and plenty of TVs to watch games. During the day the area we liked was the shuffle board, Chess, Croquet area. If you want to leave the resort you need to get a “Virus” test again. That is another jump through hoops event to get out of the resort. We got ours with results coming with just one day left at the resort. We made it to Bridgetown, which was not worth the trip. Since no cruise ships were coming, none of the tourist spots and shops were open, except the typical duty-free Jewelry shops. We ended up shopping at the resort and airport. The grounds as in all Sandals are pristine, even with monkeys running around. If you’re not scared or a worry wart, this is the time to book to enjoy a non-crowded resort. We are happy we jumped all the hoops to get there. You really don’t know how stressed you become because of this “virus hoopla” The service was beyond expectations. We were happy that we could keep the staff working. Once this “virus” stuff is over they will be booked and the buffets open, hurry and get there before the crowds come back. Bring your face mask for now, but you only needed it entering indoor facilities. Big thanks to all the staff at Royal Barbados for helping us melt our stress away.

We stayed at Sandals in November. We were so lucky with the weather and minimal rain. Couples the week before us had solid rain the whole time. The staff make this resort, its as simple as that. This was our first time at Sandals and definitely wont be the last. It was quiet which didnt bother me as no stress about sunbeds or booking restaurants (we had club level not a butler) The food is outstanding and the drinks. Our favourite restaurant was chi for the variety of dishes but we didnt have a bad meal once. The merry monkey was our favourite place and we adored Jack, Joy, Jami, Kyle, Graham and Latoya. The food was great even a sunday dinner which as brits we loved. The pool bar Dwayne was the happiest guy ever. Special shout out to Terrica who moved around the resort but never left you with an empty glass. Darren and Dylan in Butch's giving the best service. The rooms are huge, we started off in a ground floor room with a terrace and moved into a pool view balcony room. In future we would definitely pay the extra for this as the daylight was much nicer. I cant fault one this about this resort. The PCR testing was easy a $60 taxi there and back in less than an hour. You have to sanitise in every restaurant and the staff constantly wear masks to keep you safe. We are considering coming for christmas this year as the UK is proving too cold for us now :) cant wait to come back

Prefacing this to say that there were some issues in getting there due to Covid-19, but none were Sandals fault and it was 100000% worth the hassle of getting there! We did get tested twice which allowed us to not have to wear masks outside (the staff still did) and all of us felt very safe and that the property was incredibly clean. My husband and I decided (pre-Covid) to have a small destination wedding so that the wedding could be more of a vacation for us and our guests. We're very happy we did that since we were still able to get married on the same day (with a smaller group and a lot of precautions!). We were required to get a PCR test 72 hours before landing (and get the results back which was stressful) and another one 2 days after arriving. We got unlucky with all of the planes landing at once and some lost luggage so from landing to getting to sandals it was almost four hours. Everyone was super grumpy but as soon as we were on property the moods all changed and everyone felt instantly better. We were greeted by a group including our butler (Makeba) and taken to the room. She was so friendly and helpful right off the bat and she was a great addition to our trip along with Sade and Achkil! All of our butler requests were met and exceeded throughout the stay, plus some fun little surprises. All three of them were fabulous and we hope to request them again one day. For the night before the wedding, we decided to have a group rum & game night. I think this was the most fun we've ever had as a group. The staff was tons of fun and added to the atmosphere. We had lots of food and drink which were all delicious. A lot of the staff happily joined in when we asked them to dance with us and they even taught us some dance moves! Our two hosts were very lively (and were actually our DJs from the night before at the silent disco) and they kept the night going strong. For the wedding itself, Mariah was so helpful and informative and really bent over backwards to ensure we had everything we wanted and needed for our big day. She was very flexible and gave great advice on some topics we needed help with. She was even able to help arrange a lunch for all of the men while the women were getting ready. The staff at the reception was attentive and the food was great! The best part of our wedding day was our photographers! We had Brian, Byron and Marc and they were INCREDIBLE. The girls had so much fun getting ready with Brian and Byron - they quickly became part of our group. They made us feel comfortable and suggested some amazing places for photos throughout the day. We wanted to take them home with us. We loved them so much. More than just on the day of the wedding though, they made sure to always greet us and tell us suggestions throughout the entire trip as well. Plus, the photos are beautiful and I can't wait to see the video! For the resort itself, Sandals Royal Barbados and Sandals Barbados are so beautiful. Incredibly well kept, our Rondoval was so beautiful (and all of our guests had fabulous rooms as well), beautiful landscaping and the beach was perfect. I don't think we'll ever have such an easy time getting a spot at the pool or a table at lunch because you weren't at capacity, and we absolutely loved it. The staff everywhere you went was so so friendly (especially the Jerk Shack) and we had people popping up left and right after the wedding who remembered us and were congratulating us. I felt very safe and comfortable and felt that everything was very clean and immaculate. Very very happy with our time at Sandals Royal Barbados!

My partner (James) and I stayed for a seven day holiday. Originally we were a bit concerned about travel but the process was fairly seamless and everyone took precautions seriously. Make sure you get your COVID test within 72 hours of your flight - a few people in the hotel didn’t do this and were room bound until their test came back! We really needed this getaway and sandals as always delivered. We were incredibly lucky to have a dream group of butlers including our UK pal Stephen, Romero and Dwayne. Each were incredible and made our stay very special. In addition the entertainment team were amazing - the singers in particular. Thank you all very much
