I just got back from Samba and LOVED it. Rooms are a little dated for sure, but clean. I don't go on vacations to stay inside. Towels are really nice, shower more than adequate, hairdryer a bit on the useless side..There was no need for fancy hair, so it was fine. Bar and food options plentiful. Buffet with many choices and theme nights, restaurants easy to book and food delicious. Beach is just splendid! Lots of lounge chairs, in shade if desired. Humpback whales swim in the distance and sometime breach, if you're a keen observer, you get to see them. The pool is lovely as well, never seemed too crowded. Most people I met in the resort were Canadian. And the staff!! All phenomenal. Very attentive, kind and helpful. Speaking a few words in Spanish will get you a long way and makes a good impression. Salvador is one of the many wonderful people working hard to make your vacation even more enjoyable. Look for him :) Bottom line, I'd go back for sure.

The Samba is comfortable, very friendly, has a great beach, food is decent (the buffet) to very good (the reservation restaurants -- which are easy to get into, by the way), you can walk for miles in safety. Downside: the entertainment staff by the pool get noisy, the rooms are dated (but clean, spacious, fully adequate, just not exciting). Good for families with kids. We're retired, been here twice, would come again.

We have attended this resort for over 20 yrs. The changes made have given us a soul search to return. Staff is fantastic, food great, el la cart very organized. Nice you don't have to get up early to make reservations. Just book 24 hrs. Ahead. Lots of chairs around The pool and beach. You can walk the beach for miles. This yr. They have offered the locals a day pass and weekend pass, Thurs. To Sunday. It is from quiet, to bus loads, that make this resort over populated. Good luck reading a book, either on the beach or by the pool. They turn the microphone on high for pool games, around 3 p.m. good luck sitting on your balcony. Security problems !!! On the beach. My sandles, 2 pool towels, my book, and my chair taken while I was swimming, and all our stuff was thrown on the ground. I went to security, they fluffed it off. Other guests had things taken as well. We had to take turns with the couple next to us to watch our chairs ect. While we went for lunch, or a swim.My next visit was to "David" (front desk manager) twice. His response was: "Samba is not responsible for what goes missing on the beach, as it is a "public beach ". F.y.i. Pool towels are $30 u.s. each if they go missing. The buffet restaurant: some guests are coming in with no shirt and wet suits. The cushions are cloth, so good luck if you have dry clothes on. We watched the staff serve these people. Nothing said. I did bring it to their attention, they just shrugged, saying "PEOPLE " don't read the signs. The Rio next to Samba (red wrist bands) come and use our beach volleyball court. Good luck getting on it. I did talk to the activity staff, they shrugged it off too. Guess I forgot, the beach is public. When we first arrived, we asked to see the new manager, to welcome him to Samba. Tried 3 times, always busy. So I would appreciate no response from my review. Your already too late.

Rooms are dated but very clean. Maintenance around the pool is rough. The pool is warm and large . The food is always getting made and served all hours of the day . Knowing some Spanish will be an asset and help.

This was a great resort with friendly staff. The food was good and there was a great variety. We were impressed with the beach, there was always lounge chairs available. Overall a good resort would definately go back.
