Things to Know Before you Book at Kore!!!

We booked this property because it came up as a 5-star hotel in Tulum - but was definitely not a 5-star hotel. First, it looks like the hotel is on the beach, but you can't swim at the hotel in the ocean. It's surrounded by rocks, so the closest you can get to the water is in a cabana on the sand -- we didn't come to Mexico to not swim in the ocean! Second thing is the wifi is NOT included and is an additional $18/day for two devices - so if you're planning on doing any work while you're there, plan to spend a lot on wifi which really should be free. Third - if you are planning on having more than two people in the room, they will charge you an additional $120/day per person since it's all inclusive. We had three people with us, and it didn't seem like it was worth $120/day unless the resort was amazing. The rooms aren't that bad but they're definitely on the older side and was immediately bitten by mosquitos upon entering the room. As we quickly realized we were not going to enjoy our stay at Kore during the week, we went to get some dinner while we looked for other hotels to move to in Tulum. The food was honestly a disgrace - when I come to Mexico I would hope they could at least have Mexican food options on the menu. The best they had was chips and guacamole, which was literally from a bag - definitely not even fresh avocado. They were serving Italian food for some reason, and we got a salad with wilted lettuce, weird grey chicken, and some stale garlic bread. This solidified the choice we made to leave the resort and stay somewhere else in Tulum - would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a true Tulum experience. If you're staying in Tulum you shouldn't be doing an all-inclusive resort - you can go to Rivera Maya or Cancun for that. Stay at a local place and enjoy the food and beach of Tulum instead of staying at this sad resort.

We usually book at Iberostar but this time I convinced my fiance to try a new resort because we needed a new experience. I wanted more culture less touristy. I am Guatemalan myself and speak fluent spanish so I was ready to go somewhere that offered more of Mexico. We were between Occidental Xcaret or Kore Tulum. Kore Tulum offered a better deal so we chose that one and booked for 5 days 4 nights. Let me say that when we neared the time of travel we heard about a hurricane hitting the week before our trip. My thoughts were hopefully everyone is ok and I hope its out of the way and we get nice weather. Well the forecast said we were getting rain the whole time we were there with one nice day. Then it said there was a hurricane passing not close to us. When we land and are taken to the resort is when it got real and they told us the hurricane changed its path and was coming our way. A cop told our driver we were getting sent home, the hotel is closing down, and evacuating the area. We had to turn around, go back to the airport, and book a trip back home. The whole area around the resort was closing down and they were evacuating. Luckily our driver asked the cop if he could go to the resort and findout what to do with us. As he did the person at the gate said the resort was staying open and still checking who already booked in. Lord was I happy, weirdly excited to experience my first actual hurricane, and glad that the resort was fortified for something like this. We were checked in had to stay in our rooms all night. They brought food to our rooms. I honestly felt like they did everything right and made us all feel safe in such a scary situation. I got to watch from my back patio the storm before it got really bad. Mother nature is a beautiful thing! Our power went out, water was out, and the restaurants were closed the following day at the resort up until lunch and dinner. We got power back on later that morning and water was back on too but it wasnt till the next day we got warm water. My fiance and I are easily pleased. We don't complain when things don't work due to certain situations and we figure a solutin. The staff is extremely welcoming and cater to your needs especially during and after the hurricane. They are hard working and extremely brave! One worker in perticular we grew fond of and that was Bersain Hernandez. He was extremely attentive. Any questions we had on what was around our resort he had answers for, our drinks would run low he was already out with the next round, extremely knowledgeable of his surroundings and area. Very kind and welcoming and made us feel comfortable instantly! Every worker was amazing and I wish I could give them all a shoutout. Our room was amazing. The food is really good I was definitely impressed with the selection they had. Only one restaurant was fully operational due to covid. Temperature checks were performed at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. When you checked in aswell. What made my experience much more exciting was the storm we got to catch on the 3rd night with the ocean waves thrashing in, the bicycles you can checkout to ride into the city, getting to try the local restaurants and ice cream. Grocery store wasn't so far from you, its biking distance. My experience here was one of my favorites and we have traveled outside of the country twice a year for the last 2 years thats 3 trips to mexico and one to Jamaica. I have to say this resort is one of my favorites and I can not wait to come back around this same time again next year! Thank you Kore Tulum for an amazing vacation with my Fiance ?.

The hotel is awesome. Since the minute we got here our service has been wonderful. The views and the vibes are just perfect. The food/service is very good. Specifically around dinner time, our server named Balam, literally took care of us since the second we got here. We were never out of drinks or food and he was always very helpful! My girlfriend and I have a special place in our heart for him for making our trip just that much better. Also there is so many activities so close by.

    Love it!

This all inclusive resort is beautiful! The room is huge and has a jacuzzi inside. There is one restaurant but they change the menu every night which is so cool. The staff is the most welcoming but Balam has made our stay amazing! He is so attentive and we have such a great interaction every time he takes care of us. He’s made our stay so much better.

We booked our trip through Vacation Express and got a great deal. We were looking for a quite place to relax. My husband and I both have stressful jobs and with everything going on in 2020 we were looking to just enjoy the beautiful Caribbean water and sunshine. We arrived in Cancun and had prearranged our transport to the resort as a part of our vacation package. It's a two hour ride from Cancun to Tulum so when we arrived at the resort, we just wanted a shower and to get dinner. Unfortunately we quickly found out there is NO HOT WATER AT ALL at the resort. We asked the front desk and they said it was because the power had gone out and they would "reset" it. While we were waiting on that we discovered that the battery in the smoke detector was "chirping" and called the front desk again to have it replaced. The maintenance man came and did not have a battery with him so he would have to come back again. While waiting on him we noticed that there were a lot of mosquitos flying around in then room and, upon investigation, we noticed that the door to the outdoor jacuzzi had a gap at the bottom of about an inch that was allowing mosquitos and other bugs in the room. We once again called the front desk and they stated they would have the room fumigated while we were out and would make sure the hot water was taken care of. We spent a couple of hours at dinner sitting outside and enjoying the wonderful breeze. When we got back to our room you could smell that they had sprayed for bugs, the smoke detector wasn't making noise but there still was not hot water. We ended up never having any hot water at any point during our stay. Every time I asked about it I got a different excuse, so if you, like most people, want a shower that is hot or even warm don't stay here. We had gotten a room with a jacuzzi specifically to be able to enjoy relaxing in it but it was of no value because it relies on hot water (it's not one that heats the water on it's own) so it was a waste of money to get the junior suite so that we had a private one of our own, plus it's outside of the room so anyone walking by could see into it so you would have to have a bathing suit on to get in it. Besides the water we continued to have mosquitos in our room every day and suffered multiple bites. So take bug spray just to have it for your room. The room itself was very nice and spacious, although the lighting is not good and the bed is VERY firm. There is a mini fridge and nice little sitting area with a table and 2 chairs if you want to eat in your room. The AC in the room works great also. Our room was in Villa 6 which is right at the pool. We thought that would be awesome because we wouldn't have far to walk to get the restaurant or pool. It turned out to be a mistake because you can clearly here the music at the restaurant which played until around 1:00 am. There were a couple of groups of younger adults (this is an adults only resort) that were there to party so we could hear them well into the early morning hours. We ended up calling the desk to ask them to come quite them down a couple of times. There isn't any security at the resort so no one monitors what is going on and none of the staff will ask anyone to quite down or follow any of the rules. The other thing about the Villa's is that the way they are set up everything echo's so you can hear everything. One of these groups was staying in the same Villa as we were so when they came back after their partying you could clearly hear everything they were saying as they yelled to each other from their rooms. Needless to say we got very little uninterrupted sleep which we really needed. I think if you are in a Villa further away from that area you might be ok as long no rowdy people are staying in the same one you are. Now, I know all of this just sounds negative, but the resort was not all bad. The resort itself is beautiful and the view of the ocean can't be beat! There isn't a beach there at the resort but one is easy to access within about 10 minutes. They have bikes you can use (of course with the way our trip was already going, my husband got one that the chain came off several miles away from the resort, he was able to fix it but ruined a pair of shorts due to rust and oil being on the seat of the bike) to get to the beach or you can walk. They have wonderful Cabana's you can lay in and relax or plenty of chairs around the pool. We traveled in October so the resort was not full so we had our choice of chairs at the pool. They only have one but it is large with a bar that is open from 10am to 6pm. The bartender, Daniel or Danny as he told us to call him, was awesome. He recommended different local beers (what he drinks on his off days) as well as introduced us to different Tequila's that are local as well. We enjoyed talking to him and appreciated his advice on getting around in Tulum. The food at the restaurant (there is only one) was good. We thought their breakfast was the best meal they serve. They have 2 menus to chose from most nights and there were a decent amount of options. Nothing is exceptional but it is pretty good. Room service is also available so you have that as an option as well. Thursday through Sunday they have a second bar that is open off of the lobby. There really isn't anything to do there but you can watch sports if you want to. On Saturday they had a band at the pool but it was never advertised so we had no idea what time they were playing. We could hear them from our room also. There were no other activities but they do have a spa where you can get a seaside massage. They do have a gym but it is hot because they only turn the AC on if it is being used. After an hour of use it finally started to cool down. Also there are no wash clothes. I had taken our own, we had had this happen to us in Jamaica, so I was prepared this time. Not sure why they don't supply any. Also they do not automatically replenish the toiletry items so you have to ask for them The resort in not close to anything else so if you're going to do any of the excursion type things if will take a minimum of 45 minutes to get there. They are plenty of taxi's outside of the resort gate. The staff member that mans the gate can give you the rate of the taxi in peso's but we were overcharged. For example we were quoted $400 in peso's for a 10 kilometer trip but the taxi driver charged us $500 so the rates are not accurate or the driver's are choosing not to follow the agreed upon rates that their employers agreed to with the resorts. With all this being said, we will probably, still visit Kore Tulum again. We will just know to ask for a room further away from the pool, take bug spray for our room, and know that we will have cool showers for the duration of our stay. It is mostly quite, especially if you travel in the off season, it has absolutely beautiful views of the Caribbean sea and the breeze can't be beat! The staff were nice but not overly helpful. There was only one person in the lobby that spoke English well. Some of the rest of the staff does ok but the ones that clean the room don't speak it at all so that makes it hard if you need something. I resorted to using an translation app on my phone and letting them read it..
