we arrived to a lovely welcome, rum punch and I thought its going to be ok! We was taken to our room which we thought was lovely, over looked the beach and pool, very spacious, a good size bathroom with lovely towels, hairdryer and good soaps and body butter. The bed was very comfy and the air conditioning worked. Sadly on having a shower we found the water was either very hot or cold, never had a warm shower! We loved the swimming pool even though it could have been maintained a little better, there was tiles broken or missing. The sun beds were a little disappointing due to not having a back rest so you had to be lying down all the time. there was lovely wicker beds but you had to get up early to get those. and not enough parasols and the ones there were was broken. The food was cold, and not much choice. Breakfast was good, you had to be very patient when waiting for toast as it took forever. the coffee was lovely and it was good to have a mug and teapot for tea.Sadly we happened to be there on the first case of corona virus which meant we couldn't collect our food, I know why it was put in place, for our safety , but certainly put a dampener on our holiday. We celebrated our anniversary while we was there and what a lovely surprise to have a bottle of champagne put in our room. This hotel could be so much better by just keeping the food hot.

Have just came back from this hotel,it was a ok holiday,as we walked in after being 2 hours delay late all you could smell was moth balls,no welcome drink, was not impressed, was tired after flight so thought wait till morning to see if any better.was a little better in morning, room was clean but spoke to other guests that wasn’t impressed with their rooms.had a couple of small beaches which was quite nice, some of the staff were lovely, not much verity of food ,pasta lunch and dinner with only a tomato sauce lots of salads ,plain ,crab ,salmon , had chicken as well most nights, soups were good but very salty, deserts was choice fruit salad or small piece of cake,as people were leaving the hotel and nobody coming in because of the virus the food got less and even less choice, some nights didn’t bother going to dinner, didn’t know how to make cocktails, every drink was just slopped into glass ,ok if you like really strong drinks, coffee was the same ,most of the time was cold, then when you told them they got hump ,its such a shame as could be a nice hotel ,needs good paint as very tired and change of menu with more variety.

Better than expected, particularly the food and drinks

We stayed at this hotel with a group of friends and booked through Virgin Holidays. It is classed as a 3 star hotel but I thought it was much better than that. They have 2 beaches but being on the north coast they are not beautiful aquamarine blue or wonderful for swimming. However the swimming pool is huge and very nice. We had some superior sea view rooms. They are exactly the same size as the standard rooms but on the upper floors and do have a good sea view. However there is no lift and one of our group found the stairs impossible. This should be mentioned when booking. The standard rooms we had were called garden rooms but overlooked the pool and were perfect. Air conditioning was good and the maids did a great job The all inclusive was a buffet and the food was excellent. It as nice to see the owners, an Italian family dining with the guests. The girls working in the dining room were all very pleasant and helpful. The inclusive included alcoholic drinks and again they were excellent. The gin was Gordon’s and the rum which was given generously was very good. Highly recommend

We stayed at Ocean Point in February for 10 days. This hotel is definitely three star which we knew and our expectations were not high. So I hope this helps you when choosing a resort. The lobby feels very dated and not bright and cheery. Very much like a Howard Johnsons feel. The pool although very large and great for swimming, was seriously missing tiles and again was just not maintained. My concern with so many tiles not being replaced is that dirt and mold can start to appear and then you don't feel like you are in a clean pool. . The umbrellas are very few around the pool. I counted ten and asked for additional as there were far more chairs and you need shade. The staff said they were broken. One staffer tried to help us put a broken one together with screws, and it worked for a couple of days. This is unacceptable, when people need protection form the sun. There are sun beds that have kind of like. a folding cover you can put over our face, however not the best source to help beat the sun, umbrellas are much nicer. I recommend taking your own towel, as they often run out and they are super thin. Again purchasing nicer towels and perhaps one colour would give the pool area a bit of an update. Be prepared to put your towel out by 5:00AM , because it is like little ants running to their chairs and wrapping towels around. I asked if there was any restrictions on this , and the front desk said no . I was so disappointed as we maybe sat at the pool 4 times during our stay, as I refuse to get up at 5 to run with towels. The beach was fine, very small, so if you are walkers this isn't a beach for you. It is sheltered, however there is some seaweed that you need to walk through before swimming and the water is murky. So a little disappointed. There are however lots of umbrellas. There is a volleyball net that some of the locals use, but no bother at all, and there is a bocci ball kind of area, however not maintained and when we asked for the bocci balls the front desk had no idea where they were. We finally found them at the bar. lol. The restaurant was open air which is lovely and the food was very good. The staff worked very hard in the dining room and were very friendly. The wine is super average a three star Italian wine. There is no other choice unless you want to buy wine. Perhaps another choice would be nice. They have a BBQ once a week, so we were quite excited, until we found out it was hot dogs and hamburgers. We don't eat beef, and certainly not hot dogs. Sausages /fish would have been nice or chicken on the BBQ, so no selection, however the buffet was still available. The entertainment was good, some karaoke that everyone enjoyed, however we signed up fo the Latin dancing and it was cancelled and no one told us. Rooms are ok, some are very dated looking. We had first floor and ours was dated. Yes clean, but paint chipping on the ceiling. The bathrooms are super small and no storage, so as long as you are aware, you are fine. Third floor rooms are much nicer looking with high ceilings, so I would recommend these when bookings, or request them. Overall we would not return, or recommend. We enjoyed the people and the worm weather, however the hotel needs to be maintained better to continue to advertise as a three star.

We have just returned from a very relaxing and enjoyable 10 nights at Ocean Point Resort & Spa. If you want a holiday in fabulous surroundings that is not pretentious then this could be the place for you. We booked through Virgin who rated it 3 star, which I think is fair. If you want posh then this place probably isn’t for you. The hotel room was simply furnished and the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. It’s a small hotel and therefore you see the same guests and for this reason it was very friendly with guests just simply saying hello, or sometimes having a chat with each other. There is only one restaurant and one bar, although the restaurant is slightly partitioned between buffet dining and a small area for booking a la carte (not part of the all-inclusive). The buffet dining could be a bit repetitive but there was plenty of choice and there was always something that I liked. There is a decent size pool with sun-loungers and two beaches, one was very small with only about 12 sun-loungers, and the other was bigger. At no time did we get bothered on the beach by sellers and the hotel have a security guard wandering around anyway. I did have to get up early to secure a sun-lounger for the day, which was a bit annoying. I would rather have not done this but if you didn’t then you couldn’t be sure of a lounger with shade offered. We did two trips, the Xtreme Circumnavigation and a 3 hour trip to Prickly Pear island. The Xtreme one was booked through Virgin (US$170 each), although I think that it could probably have been booked through the hotel. It was very hair raising on the speed boat and we both loved it, but not to be recommended for the faint hearted or people that get travel sick! The welcome meeting with Virgin was a bit of a waste of time, she was late and whilst she apologised she offered no explanation, and the only information she really gave (as we were given full details of the trips and costs for the available trips during our transfer from the airport) was that a taxi rise to Saint Johns was US$ 15 each way and to take photo ID for any duty free purchases there. We had already been advised by friends before going that it’s best to check on-line as to how many cruise ships are arriving there on any one day before visiting as it can get very busy there. The Prickly Pear island trip was booked through the hotel (US$30 each) for snorkelling and they have plenty of trips on offer, so if you don’t want to go to the welcome meeting offered by your tour rep then you don’t need to. Some of the guests had booked through Mercury and flown with BA, and their welcome meeting didn’t happen at all. Apart from our brief welcome meeting I didn’t see any tour reps at the hotel at all, the Virgin one was supposed to be there for about half an hour four days a week, so I guess they aren’t needed anymore than this as the hotel look after the guests so well. The hotel guests were mainly, British, American and Canadian so it was all English speaking. The staff were all very polite and for those guests missing their pets at home it was lovely to pet the hotels owners two dogs and the four cats that live at the hotel. For what we paid for this holiday we found it good value for money, and we had a very relaxing and enjoyable time.
