    Great Boutique Hotel

    The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The location was great! Great restaurants, art galleries and transportation. I will becoming back to this hotel again. It was a smallish hotel and family owned.

    Started our USA trip of a lifetime in San Francisco. Not sure I would return to the Handlery in future... Hotel is very very dated, room was very average and bathroom was terrible. Staff were not very friendly or welcoming. Ok 3 night stay but was certainly happy to check out.

    Made up for rocky start ...

    We arrived after a very long transatlantic flight for a special family meeting and event - the reception did not meet expectations... until Lynn the HR director came across us rather grumpy and trying sort ourselves out - from there on in her care for us was second to none and she ensured our stay was super - I trust she will be considered for employee of the month for her effort to make our time great. The hotel offers great location, comfort and the king rooms have all you would need for a great stay and the balconies an absolute bonus for views and enjoying the ambience. We ate in the daily grill twice good service good food and for us a lovely family get together - well done and thank you lynn and glad we got to see the hotel deliver it’s best

    I never write reviews but I will make an exception for this hotel, we stayed 4 nights with family (3 rooms,5 people), let's start from the good things: location, that's it. Bad things: small room with a view on a wall literally nothing but a wall at 20in from your window. Never have I found so unfriendly staff in an hotel before (and we had our share of bad experiences around the world, but this one beats them all). From the servers at the restaurant (fake smile for paying customers at breakfast, but if you have a voucher from the hotel don't bother, they will not take care of you) to the bellboys and the receptionists, not a smile nor helpfulness, it seems that their job is a burden and they let you know it. Worst employee is the Valet at the parking, if he doesn't like to work in the service business I recommend he find another job. By the way the parking is 77.52$ a day if you have a SUV 66$ for a regular car. Go to the O'Farrel Mason Parking 100ft from the hotel round the corner, it's 35$ tax included per day (39$ with in$out privileges). For Breakfast you usually have to wait 45 minutes to get seated, and one day we waited to be served another 45 minutes after they took our order, apparently there was a mistake from the kitchen but even that was not warranted an apologie from the staff, we ended missing a cruise. Antiquated hotel even if they renovated the rooms. Stay away, plenty other ones around.

    The location of the hotel is great. We stayed in a king room in the historic section. The room is so small. The toilet paper rolls keep falling out of the holder. The shower has very little water pressure. The air conditioner didn't work either
