First and foremost positive things: location,Beach, comfortable beds, great shower , staff phenomenal, Carlos,Claudia,Roberto,Cesar,Leonardo to name a few! Downside: When we got there room was dirty sticky on chair and table. Drawers were full of sand Tiny tiny closet.. hard time locking the patio door that had a latch put on it No fridge had to ask for one.AC only goes to 21. Room and clothes felt very damp. We were lucky to get a nice big balcony and we did like our garden view room . Some rooms don’t have a balcony or a very tiny balcony. We had friends that had ants crawling up the wall and some rooms smelled very musty. Way too many people! There seem to be a lot of Mexican people that vacation there and it seems they get catered too a lot more . For the most part the National tourists were lovely people and we made friends with a lovely family but different rules seem to apply to them and when some of them chose to blast their music by the pool or in the lounge or on the beach nobody said anything. The Mexican kids were allowed to swim in the adult pool . The kids pool was right by the swim up bar and the pool was dirty I wouldn’t set foot in that pool! No fans at all in the lounge or beach restaurant it was stifling hot in there as there was no air movement . The band in front of the garden view rooms very loud and plays from 10.30 to mid nite almost every nite . Yes we could’ve gotten an ocean front room quieter for double the price however , Hotel is old needs upgrading . Food was ok. Not over the top tho and not a lot of variety!! The Buffet was very limited not much selection and sometimes seemed like leftovers from the nite before ,improvements could definitely be made on that ! They serve wine in plastic cups except at the a la carte, some waiters when I asked were very good and would bring a glass ( not wineglass) , But in the lounge they said after awhile they weren’t allowed to serve it ina glass . Nothing worse than drinking wine in a plastic cup . Yes there are great restaurants across the street but we paid for an all inclusive not To go out every nite to eat . We loved Ixtapa and will go back but unless major improvements are made NOT at the Holiday Inn again. I would call this resort more a 3 star not a 4! In summary: Beautiful location beautiful beach super friendly staff great beds great shower is what it does have going for it, so if you are ok with that and a lot of Mexican families and a LOT of kids vacationing there, a very busy resort with only two buffets and 1 a la carte yes this would be the place! Sad cause it looked that at one time it was a nice Mexican style resort that used to be a lot better and needs a lot of upgrades ,but who now seem to gear more to a National clientele. Would recommend you ask for an ocean view room if you want quiet, Go out to eat if you want good food and bring earplugs!

This was the third time that we stayed at this hotel. We loved it for the Mexican ambiance, the always friendly staff and the great beach. This year it was very different, it has turned into a party hotel. The extremely loud music can be heard all over the resort including our room, it also seems to encourage the party people in the pool to shout and scream too. We moved to the far end of the beach but the booming music persisted forcing us to leave. I asked the person on the music if could turn it down a bit, he said "no". I asked the duty manager at the desk but he said he would talk to his manager. Some people seem to enjoy the music but it should no be at the expence of the other guests. Judging from the other responses from the marketing manager he seems to only talk about the wonderful beach and the fireworks, not addressing problems so we will just vote with our feet and not come back. Too bad because we really enjoyed the hotel on previous trips.

The entertainment was by far the best part of this hotel. I learned how to play volleyball and they were very good. They are very talkative and nice. Never got bored with the entertainment. Highly recommended hotel.

Entertainment es muy Bueno. Carlos y uriel are the best people ever and they are so funny. They are so muscular. Great view. Carlos saved us from a crocodile with a small rope. If it weren’t for his bravery I don’t think we would have survived.

We arrived by coach to a lobby FILLED with suitcases, and many, MANY locals checking in. We went to grab lunch to wait for our rooms. Main buffet was good, but when locals got checked in, it was ridiculously crowded and not organized. We were then assigned to our garden view rooms, 4 in total. 3 of the rooms temperatures never got below 22-23C, even after many complaints and maintenance visits. All rooms felt damp. Rooms were adequate, and clean, with nice large balconies. During our first 2 nights, you couldn't even move around the pool, no chairs, and lines to even get into the restaurants for lunch. They literally let the locals take over the place. Not enough restaurants for that many people. We had to eat across the street! Then 200 of the 300 occupied rooms checked out, and things improved. Food is good. Both buffet and a la carte. Breakfast was great. No place to get a soda or anything to drink before 11am, unless you are at a restaurant. Beach is fantastic! Wide and clean and water is clear, once you get past the break. Waves were fun! Carlos on the beach was the man, and took great care of us every day. He made our day! Had awful issues with the towels. They keep track of the serial #'s on the towels and somehow they never seemed to match up. Had to use dirty wet towels for 5 days! Pros: Authentic Mexican style, perfect location, good quality food, amazing beach, staff was great. Cons: Overcrowded with locals, not enough dining options, towel system, room temps, no mini bar, limited bottled water
