We had a great stay at the Buganvilias. The property is extremely clean and the staff is very attentive. We stayed in a Suite and it was perfect. A few small things that might help travelers. There is no coffee in the room for the first morning when you wake up. So be sure to grab some coffee for the coffee pot. If you are looking to be on the beach this is not the spot for you. There’s beachfront seats near the property but the beach is rocky. The pools is great and the swim but bar is fantastic - the bartenders are great. We ate at Gaviotos and it was wonderful. You will be asked to spend about an hour and half to learn about the timeshares and get a free meal and other incentives. The presentation was good we are just not looking to do a timeshare.

Lots of activities at the resort. Jimena and entertainment team are very energetic and engaging! Servers and attendants at restaurants are very good. Pamela , Juan, Miguel, Liliana and Fernando just to name a few. Food is excellent at this resort, lots of variety. Similar items every day at buffet but lots of choices. Thursday is Mexican fiesta night with a mariachi band. A la carte meals are very good as well. We had no issues booking a spot. Found it very easy to communicate with all of the staff here, English is very good and they help you learn Spanish words too. Overall great stay.

The staff and the service is great!! Gabriel by the pool helped us out a lot. And I had a really good experience with the fitness center. Bryan Sarher (sp?), the fitness instructor, was very helpful. I was impressed how he went over and unobtrusively helped the gentleman figure out how to use the fitness machine properly. It's that " knowing when to get involved and know when to keep your distance" service that I like and appreciate. The beach on the water is not great. Nearly everyone uses the pools. They're huge and so there's plenty of room for everybody. We really enjoyed it.

We arrived today at 4pm and hung around the pool for a few drinks with our friends Gama, Mariano and Marco. Always fantastic service by the pool. Then a quick shower and a visit to the lobby bar. I missed our server’s name but simply awesomely attentive. Then time to eat. Off to the buffet we go. We were served by Jennifer. We’ve been coming here for 10+ years and never have had such a friendly and personable person be our food guide. Jennifer was awesome, the other buffet staff were very helpful and this is the type of experience, on our first day, that sets a high bar for our week.

We really enjoyed many aspects of this resort! The ocean view from our room was incredible, the food was excellent and the location close to the Malecon was perfect. The resort was very clean and the staff were friendly and attentive, which made our stay even better. However, we did experience an unfortunate incident that future guests should be aware of. The beach chairs are set up in a roped-off area reserved for guests, though off-site vendors do pass by regularly. The ocean isn't ideal for swimming, so we decided to spend a bit of time relaxing under the thatched palapas enjoying the view. When we went for a quick swim in the pool, we felt comfortable leaving our bag under our chair since there was a lifeguard, security, and waitstaff in the area. When we returned, our phones and other electronics were gone, and noticeably, no staff were nearby anymore. Hotel management (Jose) was very helpful and provided us with complimentary access to a phone and computer as well as extended services on our day of departure, which we appreciated. Still, the situation definately put a damper on an otherwise great vacation. Overall, we liked the resort and would consider returning - but we want to remind other travellers not to let their guard down with personal belongings, even in areas that feel secure.
