Warning to all US travelers to Isla Mujeres Palace in early April

Today is 4/4/2021, and I am currently staying at the Sun Palace over on the Cancun side after three sleepless nights at Isla Mujeres Palace. I along with 3 other couples have transferred over to their Cancun hotels after dealing with horrible noise pollution from a local rave which plays their booming bass and club music from the hours of 2300 to 0600. This is in addition to the private boats that would dock near the hotel beach and play their individual music late into the night. What was upsetting was that clearly the hotel knew of this rave and did not warn travellers about this. This is evident by the fact that they put out a letter on the day the Rave started warning us that there will be music playing through the night which is apparently out of their control. There is no amount of alcohol, white noise, or ear plugs that can drown out the multiple bass speakers that are emanating from multiple sources on the beachfront property. Some of the dishes at the Azul Blue were fantastic such as the Hibachi and the more authentic Mexican dishes. The poolside pizza does come from a brick oven which made the crust taste fantastic, but the pizza sauce was unfortunately nothing like i have ever tasted to put it politely. As this was a workcation, I did use the room service quite frequently. The room service delivery system via the app is convenient but the food is poor in taste. The only palatable room service foods that didn't taste like frozen foods were the Mexican chicken soup and the guac/ chips. The internet is surprisingly quick for being on such a remote island. On a positive note, I will say the individual workers were fantastic. Aside from one of the managers, Ismael, they were all willing to work with us given the titanic inconvenience of not being able to sleep for 2 nights while on vacation. You can tell that they were embarrassed and apologetic about the awful music that starts from 2300 and ends at 0600. If it were not for the awful club music that literally went from 2300 to 0600, I would not have left the resort. While the gym, food, and ambience was certainly lacking during our truncated stay, we absolutely enjoyed renting a golfcart for the day and driving around--trying out local foods, exploring unmarked beaches, and looking for lactaid. Side note: if you are lactose intolerant, you should certainly bring a bomb shelter supply of it from the US because you WILL NOT find it in any of the local pharmacies. Regarding the beach, the beach is quite small with a beautiful dock that extends about 40 meters into the water. While the water is clear, it is filled with seaweed with a rocky bottom, making it difficult to wade and swim. All in all, most Americans will likely find this location quite inconvenient in early April given the lack of sleep, mediocre food, and the mediocre beach. I can only speak for April since I am currently sitting here in Cancun at Sun Palace (would recommend this over Isla palace any day of the week). This is also an earnest warning to those who are looking at this hotel for a quiet stay. There is nothing quiet at the beach even during the day time as countless boats bringing in hundreds of guests per day arrive at the dock that is maybe 50 meters away. There is absolutely nothing wrong with these guests and their daytime music as they too are thoroughly enjoying their own dream vacation. My fiance and I will just look elsewhere in the future since we prize tranquility, sleep, and food over anything else when we are on vacation. Good luck and mask up!

Isla Mujeres Palace is a little gem located on the small Island of Isla Mujeres. This smaller boutique style all-inclusive hotel is wonderful for many reasons, but most importantly it is wonderful because of the amazing service the staff provides. Upon arrival we are greeted with a welcome committee, Luis, Boris, Alejandra Luna and more. We felt valued as guests throughout our stay. Bartenders, Edy, Alejandro, and Dario were exceptionally wonderful. Fermin (concierge), Boris (entertainment) and Antonio (Beach entertainment/lifeguard) made sure we were enjoying ourselves while keeping the resort clean and secure. Waiters, Juanito, Mitzi, Francisco, Julian, Arturo, Christian, Wilma, Pedro and Macedonio made sure we were well taken care of. The food selection is quite extensive and very good for a smaller resort and we were quite impressed.

The resort is beautiful, the ocean is pretty. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS OUTSTANDING! I am a travel agent and had two separate customers booked at this resort. Lucia was outstanding in helping with transportation issues. The customer didn't arrange for the boat transportation back to the mainland. When ready to leave the island, the customer was told there was no boat running that day. Most resorts would blame the customer for not booking the transportation. While he tried to decide what to do, Palace called the boat captain and arranged for him to come and pick up the customer. That's outstanding service.

We just finished a trip to Isla and stayed at the Palace. Loved the hotel and loved Isla. The staff at the hotel were phenomenal, very helpful and attentive and very friendly. If you have the pleasure of meeting Alejandra Luna, she will may your day brighter. We tried out their 2 for 1 offer and while the resort is all-inclusive, we still chose to go out much of the time. The resort breakfast were okay, the pool snacks were good but never had a dinner onsite. The pool area was good, not crowded and had plenty of seating. The beach was meh, but I’m not such a big beach person. The hotel is a fair distance from much of anything if you want to walk so be prepared to get a taxi for pretty much any trip. They are easy to get as the hotel calls them up for you. Places we went to and you should try...Soggy Peso, Mango Cafe, Madeira, The Garden for breakfast and dinner, DeNuccios...all awesome. We will be going back!

We thoroughly enjoyed ever aspect of our stay at Isla Mujeres Palace from the minute we stepped onto the pier until the minute we headed back to the airport. The outstanding customer service, cleanliness and sanitizing , luxurious room and bed, beautiful/fun beach and pool area, amazing cuisine and many delicious options at beach, room service and restaurants, nightly entertainment, convenient airport transportation/boat, help with tours, local attractions and taxis, and a special beach-side anniversary dinner and personalized desert made this 30th anniversary trip more than we ever dreamed! THANK YOU Julian, Juan, Deiby, Luis, Gabriel, Francesco, Mitzi, Alvaro, Lourdes, and Christian for seeing to our every need and desire! You are truly the BEST at your jobs and going above and beyond to make our stay so very special! Your hospitality was greatly appreciated! It was also very reasonably priced for what we received and worth every penny for the pampering, memories and photos. We can't wait to return! Would also highly recommend swimming with the dolphins, Playa Norte beach, shopping on Hidalgo street and renting a golf cart and touring the island.
