We went to Bar Canada and sitting and playing for hours. The bartender reminded us we had to play a $1 minimum to get free drinks. Funny thing was we were there for hours playing and others would walk up, put in twenty bucks, hit play and order a drink. Then they walked away. We were there for hours, how about a little bit of common sense. Bar Canada is stupid now, don't let me play for hours and remind me I have to play a $1 minimum each time.

At noon we returned to check in and were quickly given keys to room 1109 on the 11th floor. At the elevator bank an attendant asked to see our room key and selected the floor for us and we quickly arrived at our room. The room was pristine! Every nook & cranny of our room was fresh, updated, and most of all clean. The room was simple, yet very comfortable. The beds slept great! I would say the pillows were a bit past due for replacement, but only a minor personal preference in my opinion. The D has a great party atmosphere and we received nothing but amazing customer service during our stay. We visited the gift shop and bought a great D branded ashtray and coffee mug. Also, we had a light snack - The Great Coney Island Hot Dog (Detroit hot dog with chili, mustard, and onions. $3.95) at American Coney Island. Also, we spent most of our time at the Long Bar located on the main level of the property, as well as the Vue Bar and Bar Canada located on the second floor. We had visited the D many times prior to this visit, however, we spent most of our time on the second floor that was expanded a year or two ago. The D offers a great and classic throwback with their Keno Lounge. The bartenders were very attentive and often did tricks (called "Flaring" with the liquor bottles). If you are seeking a casino with a "party atmosphere the D is up your alley! Looking for something more low key? Then head up to the 2nd floor casino.

Heard this place was all about Detroit, maybe I was misinformed but I was unable to find even an old English D, a pic of any red wing legend, the number 20, a car (except the one out front being given away like other casinos). I asked where the Detroit things were and the server said there’s a Coney Island in the building, my bad for getting my hopes up I suppose. That being said, pretty cool looking place, the long bar was impressive and the facility was well kept. Nice place just not what I was expecting

I spent New Years Eve at The D hotel this year. I wanted to experience Fremont St and Old Vegas on New Years. The hotel is nice. Not too big it is right in the heart of Fremont St. The rooms are clean and nice. Just don't have microwaves or Refrigerators. Usually the price is great for this hotel and it was the best deal for New Years eve and Day!!

We stayed 2 night and used the $100 for two night Sunday -Thursday promo. The promo is a good deal as the hotel is located right on Fremont Street and you could walk out of the D onto the street. Hotel/Bar/Gambling areas were clean and COVID-19 protocols were in force and we felt safe. Staff was nice and check-in was fast. Rooms are nice, with very speedy and efficient elevators. There are no fridges, coffee makers and microwaves and the AC/Heater unit was very hard to use as one night the weather was cold but the heater would not stop after setting it to a certain degree which in the end we just shut it off. Finally, they used the little plastic bottles which pollute the environment as the D should use refill type of soaps in their showers. All in all, good value for the promo we got.
