Sandals says they are Luxury All Inclusive. They got the All Inclusive part right. To be fair this is the only Sandals we have stayed at. Other Luxury All Inclusive's we have stayed at for similar money do it way better. The rooms are outdated. The food is just okay including the much lauded French place. The staff is mostly friendly. The only bad attitude was from Tomika at the Water Sports Desk. Raven, one of the Managers was terrific at trying to overcome some issues we had. The Beach is nice although there are tons of cigarette butts. Plenty of beach chairs. The excursion desk also did a great job with the trip we booked. With Some room updates and better food this place could be great.

Wonderful trip. Everything was perfect. The most helpful staff. Cleanliness of the place impeccable. Excellent food and wine at every of the 9 restaurants. Beautiful beach. Really idyllic place. I would go back there in a heartbeat.

    Mediocre Honeymoon at best..

I think it’s important to note my husband and I are well traveled to many resorts all over the Caribbean, so we had a lot to compare this to. Sandals resorts have done an incredible job with their marketing. There is nothing that makes this resort any more special than other resorts that you will pay half the price for. Here are some of the issues we encountered: -Firstly, the resort gave me food poisoning on our second day. FOOD POISONING ON OUR HONEYMOON. I know it was from the resort because I consumed an undercooked hamburger from room service that I didn’t realize was undercooked until half way through. I understand food poisoning is just something you have to get through but when we called the nurse, she said she couldn’t do anything but document the event and wasn’t even “allowed” to give me anti nausea or anti diarrheal because it was against resort policy. So my husband had to go to the gift shop and buy Pepto for $15!! Unbelievable. However, to be fair she did send coconut water to our room the next day and check on us later. -Secondly, we are big divers. We went on 7 dives with the Sandals La Toc crew. Because we didn’t bring our log books (why would we? We had our PADI cards) we had to do an introductory dive. While understandable for safety, this was a complete waste of a day and a dive. We were told to be there at 9am so we got up early and hustled there. When we showed up, they told us another couple had joined so we wouldn’t leave for a couple more hours. They couldn’t call our room or let our butler know?? Then, we weren’t instructed until we were at the dive shop (20 minute bus ride away) that we couldn’t dive bare back (which we have done multiple times at other resorts), so we had to spend $100 on overpriced rash guards at the dive shop so we could dive that day! Additionally, the instructor that day was incredibly rude and treated us like children. We even had another couple who had a security issue with this particular dive instructor which put us in a very awkward position. It was a terrible experience on the first day. However, we did have a wonderful experience for the dives after that. We experienced two wrecks and ended up getting our Advanced Open Water while there. Martin and Marie were our instructors and they were amazing! I can’t say enough about how wonderful and laid back they were. Martin was a true joy to be around and we loved having him as our dive master. But if you do plan to dive, it’s important to know that you have to take a 20 minute bus ride to the docks everyday there and back. If you are looking for convenience, this isn’t it. It will cost you most of your day (we usually got back around 1pm-2). And bring your log book! A little communication would have gone a long, long way. The visibility was pretty good most days. About 80-100 feet. We did the ‘superman’ drift dive at the base of the Pitons and that was definitely a bucket list item. Sea turtles, squid, lion fish. It was a great experience as far as what we saw. -Thirdly, we were located on sunset bluff in the honeymoon suites. WE HAD NO HOT WATER!! Ever! We called to have maintenance look at it and nothing.. I literally didn’t wash my hair for three days because the water was frigid and unable to use. That’s a pretty small thing to ask for from a “5 star” resort, a hot shower... As far as what we were pleased with- we do believe it was beneficial to have butlers, and they were incredible. Kamel, Ficus and Shanna were top notch. In fact, on the day I was sick, Kamel actually had the kitchen make me chicken soup to order. That was a big deal since I hadn’t eaten in 24 hours. What’s wonderful about the butlers is that they make all of your reservations, drive you around the resort (very spread out and a lot of walking) and would reserve beach chairs for us while we were diving and bring us drinks while we were out there. Also, we requested coffee and pastries every morning at 7am (because we had to leave so early for the dives) and it was there on time every single day. We were very very pleased. No complaints there. If you are debating getting a butler, do it. It’s worth the money. If you’re looking for tranquil waters, this resort doesn’t have it. We saw many people floundering in the surf because the rough ocean knocked them down while entering or exiting the water. The beach is beautiful but the water can be rough and choppy. We did the Joe Knows tour one day. It was worth it to be able to see the active volcano and the mud bath was pretty interesting. If you do book it, make sure to do it on a day where there are no cruise ships in town. It will be much smaller crowds. The grounds were very beautiful. The staff is constantly cleaning and tending to the gardens. We were on the bottom level and had hummingbirds that came up to feed on the flowers. That was a treat. It is an extremely aesthetically pleasing resort. Bottom line, we were not super impressed with this resort. For what we payed, we expected much, much more than what we got. We have actually visited Couples Resorts in Jamaica many times and no kidding they are HALF the price and you get double the inclusions. Still included diving, snorkeling, wonderful food, more water sports (like water skiing) and a catamaran cruise is included too. If you’re reading this and you’re looking for a good honeymoon spot, just check out Couples Resorts as well. You’ll be glad you did.

This was our first stay at a Sandals resort and it was selected due to our travel agent informing us of their care for guests with the severe gluten allergy-celiac disease. There are no words that could adequately describe how absolutely wonderful the staff we interacted with were during our stay. In our opinion, they each went above and beyond to attend to our needs/requests as well as being the most friendliest of any island we have visited. It all began with our arrival and meeting our butler, "Super Roger." Roger's personality and concern for my gluten allergy was outstanding. This continued when we met our other butler, Barkus. These two gentleman were the epitome of professionalism! Saying goodbye at the end of our stay brought tears to my eyes-if that isn't an indication of their interactions with us, I am not sure what is! As for dealing with the food, again-tears saying thank you and goodbye to Executive Chef Prateek Basu and his staff, Abijit Deshmukh, Puspender Sen and Gimbert. Prateek alerted staff to inform him whenever I arrived, no matter what location. He and his staff prepared the most outstanding meals. I think I could have requested almost anything and they would have made it happen. Unbeknown to us, Prateek even alerted Paul when we chose to spend a day at the Grande! This was the first vacation since being diagnosed 2 years ago that I did not have to be concerned with what was I able to safely eat. I would be remiss if I did not mention a few others that we interacted with either daily or on numerous occasions: Moise (what a classy guy!), Agnes (who started our mornings with such a welcoming and inspirational smile and conversation), Ariana and Alicia who could not have been sweeter. All of these kindnesses were genuine, they weren't doing it in hopes of a larger tip as we have experienced elsewhere. It was just their personalities. I truly hope that Mr. G and the Chairman of Sandals recognize and acknowledge those mentioned above for their value in some manner. We thank each one of them, from the bottom of our hearts, for making us feel like we were home away from home!

Positives: food was good pools was nice and people plesent Negatives: AC Was not working in room. Had a few discrimination due to colour of skin at a particular restaurant. Not everything is complimentary. For the price you are paying at least one item on the spa or a couple of photos should be free
