I recently stayed at the resort for a conference. The hotel itself is furnished from top to bottom in craftsman's design. The staff is friendly and very attentive. And in true Disney fashion everyone tries to strive to be helpful. My only reservation is the cost. The room is well over $500 per night. And while the linens and bedding are quite nice--the room is small , the bathroom has a bath/shower combo and is also small. This is not a 5 star hotel by conventional standards. But the hotel is perfect for going to California Adventure or Downtown Disney.

We were at Disneyland for 4 days over the kids' spring break. It was our first trip so we don't have another nearby hotel to compare it to, but we really appreciated the convenience. If you are going to Disneyland, you walk through Downtown Disney. You can place an order for pick up at the Starbucks and save time. If you are going to California Adventure, there is direct access directly into the park. It saves so much time especially when it's early in the morning and you want to get onto the rides before the crowds arrive and in the afternoon/evening when everyone is exhausted. Inside the room, there are several conveniences. We loved the shower stall; no grimy bathtub. The shower has a handheld sprayer and a rain shower head. The bath amenities are great, with nice touches like body wash. They have a stool for little kids which was very much appreciated. Turn down service included a chocolate which was a nice touch. One negative is that the restaurants are horrible. The menus are for senior citizens with meatloaf and very old-fashioned meals. Better to eat in the parks or Downtown Disney.

Three Stays In Five Months ??

I stayed at the Grand end of last October with my assistant/employee, my December stay was with sister, niece & my 80 year old mother. And the third stay in February was with large group of 24 family and friends. It is important to take note that although I stay 3-4 times a year I do not always give five stars. These stays were so consistent with service and the Disney smile. I am a DVC member, but about half of my stays are not as DVC due to availability and I feel either stay is the same in comparison with the exception of housekeeping & missing my turn down service “chocolate surprise “ I am going to list a few of my experiences and opinions that may be helpful for you to know for your next time you vacation at the Grand. So many people complain about the price and compare it to other 5 star hotels. You are comparing apples and oranges. This hotel stands on its own with its location and that is what you are paying for. I feel the rooms are adequate in size I enjoy the decor with touches of Disney. The renovation was well over due and I now leave me extension cord at home. Outlets everywhere and storage to. So even if the room is not on the large side you can store luggage under beds, hang jackets etc. on wall racks and plenty of drawer space. The amenities are high spa quality and I hoard them. We rented a scooter for my mother and when we arrived it was at the hotel they brought it right to us. So easy to get, just call hotel they have the # and it was very responsibly priced. CM was most helpful in explaining to my mother on how to run it for her first time. I hear a lot of complaints on registration wait times and legitimate complaints for-sure during the new system learning period, but I managed to miss all of that inconvenience. Since 2014 I have been coming consistently and have never waited over 15 minutes. Baggage, valet and bell serve always friendly and timely. Any problems that ever arose were handled promptly or compensated with fast passes etc. So in closing if you can’t tell I just love this hotel it’s becoming my second home. But I do hold it to a standard for sure. Disney is my therapy and my highest expectation is CM smiles everywhere!! Below are a couple of must do’s. Mandara spa 10 every time and shout out to Wendy my fav. Cabana rentals, one way to get spoiled and shout out to Julie. Napa Rose chefs counter spoiled again Remember to always go online and research what is happening on property during your stay so you don’t end up surprised and disappointed. Also remember to approach CM with a smile yourself and you might get better results with your circumstances. Have a magical day!!!

This is the most beautiful hotel I’ve ever visited and I know I’ll be coming back here one day, hopefully soon enough! I cannot wait, it’s been way too long since 2009, a whole decade already from now Through June. It can be expensive tho I negotiated a deal back in the day so it was a winner winner! Thank you grand!!!

A clip joint for gullible tourists

We stayed here for two nights to visit Disney with our two young girls. We booked it from London some months ago. On the plus side... You get the magic hour in the morning (which they clearly trade off) and that makes a huge difference to your trip. The general manager, Dan, genuinely tried to fix the many problems we encountered (see below) and seemed a decent guy. The lobby is imposing and attractive (if entirely fake, but this is Disney), they have a decent wine list. On the down side... It is so, so, so expensive. I’ve just got our bill and it was ROOM ONLY for the most basic room in the hotel (and it was really basic) $850 a night. For a room that wouldn’t be out of place in a motel. That we could barely fit in, that overlooked a parking lot, that didn’t include any breakfast, that didn’t even include a bottle of water left by your bed. It’s sold at $710 a night, but that’s before ‘transient’ tax, ‘gullible tourist’ tax etc. The room was tired, generic and cheap. Slapping a picture of chip n dale in the tiny lavatory doesn’t make it a Disney experience. There were so many problems with service I can’t be bothered to mention them, but the bed for our youngest wasn’t made up despite three calls to front desk, there was no coffee in the room, nor milk, nor water, the service desk was rude and ineffectual, the alarm went off at 6am because staff hadn’t checked it from a previous guest, the keys didn’t work etc. Avoid the Napa Rose restaurant, which serves indifferent food at $50 a plate in a brightly lit pastiche of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and dodgy oysters (for which profuse apologies from the lovely waiter, but it still appeared on the bill). It’s a real shame, it could and should have been so much more.
