Great Value and well worth checking out

H1272RTdavidh (Calgary, Canada) on May 04, 2024

Have no issues recommending this place as a great value for couple, friends, and families. Although admittedly a bit go an older place ~ 25years, it’s clean and well maintained, with friendly and helpful staff. A bit a Spanish knowledge goes a long way but ok English pretty prevalent Friendly and helpful concierge service Pros: 1. Close to Airport ~ 30min 2. Easy Uber or walk to town ~ 5min (go to Umbrella street) 3. No reso restaurants (expect Asian place but that’s TOTALLY worth it for the yummy food) 4. Overall good food and drinks 5. Resort not crazy big so easy to get around 6. TONs of seating everywhere so no issues finding a place to sit including pool area 7. Nice lobby bar, good coffee and friendly 8. Great gym and ok sized with a decent array of equipment with super friendly staff, very clean good hours. 9. Yummy whip cream and sugar donuts 10. Awesome breakfast with 2 amazing and friendly Omelette makers Room for improvement: 1. Could probably use some more mirrors in gym 2. Coffee, we and other guests believe is not super great anywhere outside the lobby bar 3. If you a sweet tooth you may be a bit disappointed in selection and ice cream 4. Hotel cabs expensive, best just grab an Uber 5. The pool bars are often lined up, there is a definite need for a second person to support to help here, strongly recommend this!!! Lastly, there will be some encouragement to attend a “presentation”, HOWEVER, definitely no pressure from the staff which is great and it isn’t a typical timeshare thing, and admittedly my wife and I are absolutely considering it. Recommend they finish presentation with a business card to ask follow up questions as we don’t want to decide on the spot, but genuinely seems like a good deal. I would say this is somewhere we would consider coming to again as it is good overall value

Not going back

689olgaa on May 02, 2024

I’d been in this hotel many years ago. The hotel needs to be updated. Everything is old. We couldn’t use the beach because of the weather The rooms were clean. The tv doesn’t have any channels No bottle water in the room To be fair the hotel was ok. But the food and drinks were not good at all Flies on top of the food in the buffet The Mexican restaurant is the only place that the food was not so bad I won’t be going back

Nice choice

IslandManRides (Isla de Vieques, Puerto Rico) on May 02, 2024

This property was a nice, clean, comfortable place to relax. The staff was friendly, food good, and bars prompt with drinks. The pool bar could have used a little more shade from the afternoon sun, but it worked. The entertainment staff did a good job. Unfortunately, I had left behind a jacket that I wanted back. The staff worked with me to get it shipped back to me... much appreciated. I'd stay here again.

Atmosphere is good for a week in the sun,

MarieAnneWinchester (Ottawa, Canada) on Apr 27, 2024

As far as all inclusives go, this is a smaller property, well laid out, with a few choices for meals, and the all important pool or beach options. Our room was standard - clean, a comfortable bed and pillows, and a bathroom on the small side. We had one problem with the room, the walk in shower stall - no bath tubs- does not have a deep enough floor resulting in an overflow of water into the bathroom the first time I used the shower. I had the maintenance people come in who told me that I had to take the drain screen and plug out in order to keep the water flowing down into the drain. I call this a construction failure. It was more annoying than anything else. We had an ocean view room which was perfect for leaving the balcony door open to hear the sound of the surf. We were also the last block of rooms on the property, and were the furthest away from restaurants and the pool. This meant a nearly 1 kilometre walk to and from the main buffet restaurant for every meal. And we were just fine with this, it meant that by the time we left after our week’s stay we had walked an average of 9-10 kilometres daily! Restaurants - the buffet was - typical - lots of choices. Breakfast had a huge variety of egg choices, cereals, cold meats, fruits, yogurts cheeses. Coffee, as all over most of the Island, was espresso based and not commercial US coffee out of huge vats. I drink decaf and that was not readily available in the buffet restaurant. I didn’t mind, I grabbed coffee from the lobby bar daily, and the lovely bar tender/barista knew my order by the end of the second day! Lunch and dinner were ample, with theme night meals in the buffet. The theme restaurants were a tad elevated. There were a Mexican, Italian and Japanese style restaurants. We chose to eat in the Italian twice and enjoyed veal, and chicken. The lasagna was more of a riff on traditional lasagna and was not a favourite though there was nothing wrong with it. The Japanese food was very good though a zen atmosphere found in most of these kinds of restaurants was missing. The Latina influence with a sing song patter that sounded like « shave and hair cut - two bits! » was almost annoying. It was a good thing the food made up for it. Beach barbecues were great fun. Watching the preparation of seafood paella with huge lobsters was great fun and the results were mouth watering. Beach - was kept clean of the overwhelming amount of seaweed that drifted in from the water. Early every morning staff were shoveling the massive amounts of seaweed into a truck to ensure guests enjoyed a clean beach front, bravo. Services across the property was excellent. The hotel staff everywhere were courteous, helpful and put up with my Duolingo attempts of Spanish. We were disappointed however that there wasn’t resort staff on the beach bringing drinks or food. A minor quibble - the bar was not far and beach side lunches were made a couple of times during our week, I was told by several guests who have been coming to this hotel for years, that quality has declined. There used to be 5 or 6 restaurants besides the buffet, now there are 3. The live entertainment has gone from Hollywood big time acts to local high school talent, though we did not attend any of the post supper shows. A highlight of this particular property is the beautiful orchid garden tucked away at the back along a walk way. The array and variety of orchids being grown was astonishing to me. The small zen like garden was peaceful and I made a point to spend a bit of time there at least once a day. It is next to a mangrove tree restoration project. I would contrast the orchid garden zenness with the annoying stench of cigarette and cigar smoke in all the public areas. It detracted from the open air bars and seating areas chasing us away more than once. As much as we enjoyed sitting in the large airy lobby bar for coffee or drinks, the cigar and cigarettes kept defeating us. A real shame as staff are friendly, food is good, and the atmosphere is what you want when looking for a week I. The sun,
