I stayed here for a week and since the start of the vacation we had problems... We booked via Virtuoso and we were expecting to be the services as good as most of the hotels we have stayed in! I have to say that the property is a dream come true! But the lack of good services makes you feel like you are staying in heaven and being treated as if you paid for a 3 star hotel. The receptionist didnt have or rooms ready and told us that we couldnt have an upgrade because there were no rooms available, eventhough we paid for it and the hotel was at 30% of occupancy. When we arrived to the room we had problems with the shower water and with the door handle... after begging three times, they came to fix it. At the pool, you had to pay for sun shades!!!! Its the first time I stay at a five star hotel, which I payed more than 850 usd per night, where you have to pay for sun shades!! My father has skin cancer and we didnt have any other option than to pay 60USD a day for a sun shade to keep him safe from the sun. I am extremely dissapointed with the service. One night, the fire alarm started ringing and we had to be evacuated from the property NONE OF THE STAFF KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING! No one told us what to do o or where to go... Last time I went to Hawaii I stayed at the four seasons, and I can tell that what you pay is reflected in the service! I hope Fairmont takes this review to change this and gets better.

We were nervous about traveling to the big island and staying at a hotel during a pandemic. But fairmont orchid really made sure we were all safe while enjoying our stay. Lounge stairs by the pool were spaced out, hotel is running at 30 percent occupancy so guests can enjoy a peaceful and calm stay without large crowds. It was a beautiful time and we hope and wish all the staff at Fairmont Orchid a safe new year and hope they can continue to welcome guests.

    A special place...

Those visiting Hawaii The Fairmont Orchid hotel is a must on the Kohala coast. Family friendly and relaxing to see the least. Hawaii has so much to offer and these guys do it right from culture to Aloha. Please visit aunty Kaiulani and take her culture tour and lei making class. She is awesome!! You cant visit Hawaii and not get educated on the culture, so just do it. All covid guidelines are in place their and we felt very safe and comfortable. Now is a good time to visit as tourism is just starting to ramp up! Mahalo to the great bartender’s by the pool and the valet guys welcoming at the front and the whole staff for the Aloha. Mahalo

After postponing twice my son and his now wife decided to go with a destination wedding so they can move on with their lives. The Fairmont Orchid is a beautiful property just 19 miles North of Kona airport. Beautiful facility with beautiful grounds. A little on the small side but spacious enough. Some facilities were very limited due to COVID and the property was nowhere near full. Pool area was very nice although if they were at near full capacity finding a spot that was somewhat shaded might be difficult. The beach are is nice but very rocky. I highly recommend water s,hoes if you don’t want your feet cut up. The cove is real,y nice as there are some breakers to calm the surf down. You can snorkel in the cove it’s not great but we did see a ray and I swam just above a big green sea turtle. Although COVID limited food and beverage services what was available was very good. Overall a very good stay.

There are some good rates if your book through amex as you can get breakfast included and a resort credit. We stayed here for a few nights as a less expensive option before checking into the four seasons for a wedding. The rooms are clean and the le labo toiletries are a great addition to the rooms. The breakfast buffet was very good with lots of fruit and good coffee. We also enjoyed the bar by the pool which had several Kona beers on tap. This is a great mid priced option on the big island.
