    The WORST staff

This was the worst hotel stay I have had. Every person that we came across as far as staff was absolutely rude, unfriendly, and not helpful besides the person that brought us our bags when we left. Multiple requests for additional/ clean glasses for our room were never met- the first night we requested one additional for having wine in our room, and the second day they never replaced the dirty glasses. Our "request" for two beds was "not a guarantee" which was a hassle and rudely responded to by the staff- do not be fooled by your "request" for a specific room! The only good thing about this hotel was the room. While it was small (normal for SF), it was nicely decorated and comfortable. I would NOT recommend staying here.

    An OK time

We’d pre-paid for our stay, our arrival was early and a room was ready for us, much appreciated after a long flight. The room was OK, a little compact, but clean. There is a Jazz Club on the top floor and we had an enjoyable time there. All staff we had contact with were polite, efficient and helpful.

Watch your bill. We prepaid the room, and were then charged for it twice!

We had an ok stay at the hotel. Location was great but hotel is quite dated. We booked with British Airways, this included all taxes and fees. When we returned to London we discovered that we had been charged not once, but twice for the room, even though we prepaid! They were very apologetic and said we would receive a refund. However as they were refunding dollars to pounds ( reminder- their mistake not ours) we were charged foreign currency fees etc.... and are now at a loss of over £60! Despite sending several emails they have not sorted out the problem and a further charge of over a thousand pounds is still pending. Very, very disappointed. We also contacted British Airways about the issue, still no response a week later.??

Got a great deal to stay in the Union Square area at this amazing hotel...Beautiful detail though out. Great bar in the lobby BUT THE AMAZING THING WAS...The bar overlooking Union Square on the top floor...Beautiful. Resturant on the side, for lunch...Everything within walking distance, from resturants, bars, clubs to the trolly and the mall...Highly recommended.

It's been a few years since my last stay at the Sir Francis Drake and not much has changed - which is a good thing as I love this place. The location at Union Square is perfect, and all the employees are very friendly. I had room 307 which is one of the larger Grand Double Queen rooms. I liked the extra space, and the large bathroom. There was no view as the windows of the room are up high. I found not being able to see out was a little odd - not my favorite- but still a very nice room. Scala's Bistro, the restaurant at the hotel, remains my favorite! The only improvements I'd like to see would be a tea kettle in the rooms, and get rid of the "resort fee"! There is no resort, no pool, no extra amenities that are not already being accounted for in the normal room rate. I'd feel less annoyed if Kimpton just raised the price of the room instead of adding this ridiculous fee.
