Third time staying at this property over the last 10 years. The two previous times we stayed on the garden side of the property and it was okay...but we continue to return as it is the location and the beach that is the main attraction here, and the beach is excellent! The option to rent beach cabanas is another nice option that they have continued (albeit for 75.00 a day) Many resorts in the islands have discontinued this amenity. Through the years, many of the reviews have stated that the splurge for the ocean side rooms was worth it. This time we decided to go for it and we have to agree that it was the best decision. We had stayed a week in Kapaa as a central location to explore the north side of the island and chose the last 6 nights to relax and enjoy the beach and our room at the Sheraton. We ended up with room 1216 and the view was AMAZING. Every night the sunsets were enjoyed on our lanai and every morning we would enjoy waking up with the sounds of the ocean on the lanai as well. The ocean front lawn in front of the room was where everyone wanted to be for the views of the sunset and all we had to do was relax and enjoy it from our room. It was perfect. If you get an Oceanside room, request a room on the same side as the fitness room and Link cafe. The other Oceanside rooms can be by the pool, the pool bar/restaurant (Lava's), or by the lawn where the laua takes place. These may be noisy!?!

After reading some recent negative reviews, I was slightly nervous, but don’t believe everything you read! My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and we had the BEST experience! Be aware that when you check in, the hotel portion is ocean front, the villas are “garden view”. We were in the villas, but we were able to see both the ocean and had a great view of the villa pool! The staff was very welcoming on check in, and the concierge Jane was very helpful with booking excursions and gave great restaurant recommendations. The ocean side pool and beach were beautiful (we’re sad to leave the fabulous views)! Both Lava’s and RumFire were delicious. The luau on site was really fun and the food was great! If we ever make our way back to Kauai, which we hope we do, we will definitely be sure to stay here!

We had a lovely room! Maybe your experience at this hotel depends on what room you book and where it’s located. Our room had a perfect view of waves, local surfers, and the sunset. We were ground level which we loved, but with a large balcony. Two small chairs on the balcony so I don’t know why it was so large! The room was also huge with a sofa, chair, lots of storage, and a heavenly bed!! We slept like babies! The bathroom was also big! I’m super picky about where we stay, and what room we stay in. We were very happy with our 4 night stay here! We also loved the pool, so refreshing, and the short walk to good restaurants for lunch and dinner. Poipu Beach Park is close enough to walk and if you go early the turtles are still sleeping on the sand. You can also swim and snorkel with the turtles and lots of fish in the calm waters there. We had breakfast at Lavas (included in our AAA room rate) and it was always delicious, with lots of choices and very friendly servers. The part of the hotel, I guess the timeshare part, under construction isn’t pretty, and I wouldn’t want to stay on that side of the road. If you’re not on the ocean side, with a good view, this hotel might not be that great of a choice. Also, the luau was moved inside the night we went. It wasn’t raining or even windy so this was not a good move and the ballroom is not where you want to attend a luau! We only used valet the first nite because it was included. We self parked the rest of the time and the lot was closer to our room than where we walked to get the car from valet. I’d read it’s really far away, but it’s so close and always had spots available. It’s interesting how people can have such different experiences at the same hotel. One small complaint is that they play the music really loud by the pool, and I had to locate myself away from the speaker or I couldn’t read my book. And we thought it was funny how people would put their towels on chairs about 7 AM to save them for the day. It wasn’t very crowded, I always found a spot no matter what time I went. We would stay here again anytime! Poipu is a beautiful and fun area with lots to do. The snorkel trip to Na Pali coast is also super!

A great restaurant set in a magnificent location. Great food and very friendly staff. Special mention for Kristy who is an excellent host. Sample a 'Big Swell' whilst watching the sun set over the big swells. A great place!

READ this before booking! I travel a lot and I usually enjoy the Sheraton line so when I received a promotional offer to stay for 5 days and 6 nights at the Sheraton Kauai Resort I thought it was a great opportunity. In exchange for you touring the timeshare Villas, they offered a "standard hotel room with a beautiful garden view". I knew that it wouldn't be an upgraded room or ocean view but I certainly didn't expect to be stuck in a tiny timeshare villa across the street from the resort with annoying construction all around. The view from our room included dumpsters, caution tape, and dirt. During the day you could not hear yourself think with all the LOUD construction noise. Drilling, jack hammering, tile cutting etc. Not what you would call a peaceful or serene Hawaiian vacation. What was worse was the condescending attitude of the staff. When I complained, I was told that the best rooms went to the current owners first and that they had limited rooms for the "promotional offer". One person actually said "After-all, you got a deal and didn't pay that much" As if to say "What do you expect?" - Well, I expect to be treated with the respect and consideration of any other guest!
