Service at the Emerald Bay pool provided by Felipe Orendain and Daniel Rosales was friendly, prompt, very attentive, and overall excellent! Artoro Diosdano was very informative about activities available and helpful with booking spa service. I’m really glad we took the city tour conducted by Edward. I hate it that I can’t remember his last name because the tour was educational and Edward made it fun and entertaining.

We stepped into the jr. suite with the kingsize bed and my nose picked up the smell of mold permeating the space. Because it was centrally located with an ocean view and the only one left, we stayed there. We kept the fans on constantly, to take out the smell and succeeded in reducing it such that the smell was gone at the end of our week there. Then we discovered the place hadn't been cleaned (or likely used) in some time and asked housekeeping to send someone in the next day to clean the place thoroughly, which they did. We'd been before to this lovely spot, when it was newer, but this time we learned with their expansions in other Mexican locations, this place was being left to fall behind in the upgrade department. And it was visible in the crumbling buildings, stairs and infrastructure. Their other location in the gold zone is undergoing major renovations and expansion. It has a lovey beach where one can swim and the shuttle will take guest from Emerald Beach to the Gold Zone and back at no charge. In the spa, which has many services, one can use the steam and showers, if you're wearing the right wrist band. Each time I went in, I had to ask staff to turn up the heat. The last time it was sitting empty and barely working. Staff seemed unwilling to turn up the heat and were more focussed on keeping the floors dry and clean. Couldn't get a sweat to work up and no one seemed to want to help get it working. Still and all, we enjoyed the water aerobics at noon, walking the beach, and the generally very good service in the restaurants. Staff we spoke to had worked there for years and said it was the best place to work. Cilantro restaurant in town is highly rated among others in the city. We found Pescado, another of the in town Pueblo Bonito's offerings missed the mark entirely. Insufficient staff in the kitchen preparing Japanese style food and waiters with only a smattering of English who couldn't understand questions around the ingredients in dishes - very necessary if you have food allergies. I've not ever had to complain about things going missing, but this time a bottle of sunscreen with zinc and a package of bandaids just disappeared. It left me feeling less than happy about the resort, even though these are small things.

Stayed here back in February with family. What a great resort! All staff were very friendly especially Alejandro in the bar, He sure made us all feel very welcome. The pools and beach were perfect too! Will definitely return.
